  1. Hi Roger13,

If we live in peace? Why don't you spend sometime in Malaysia and find out the truth yourself instead of assuming what you think is the case? One shall not judge unless involved in the situation. And fear of secret police? Hahaha... honestly this is the first time I heard about this term being used describing anything related to Malaysia and I think its really funny

    :o

  2. Hi Jem Jem,

No problem, I don't feel that you have offended anyone at all. You were just looking for more info about the country, thats all.

Yeah as long as we don't insult anyone or do personal attack on the forum thats fine.

  3. Also, I have to add, it doesn't matter how other foreigners think about Malaysia, as long as we the Malaysians are happy about it.

Malaysia welcome all foreigners who enjoy the stay and the country, those that don't really like it that much, they can go home.

  4. No, that is not what arrogant people said when they think they cannot win the argument. Thats what smart people do when they don't want to waste time explaining what others don't seem to understand and refuse to understand or see things from different angle.

Again, there is no right or wrong in which ever thing discussed. Right or wrong, its just a matter of perception. Up to you to decide what is right or wrong FOR YOU YOURSELF but at least respect other people's view point.

Besides, why would we see it as a Intolerant Country? We have enough food, enough peace, enough education, enough job, enough of everything.... no fighting, no religious war.

  5. Well guys, I don't think one can ever understand Malaysia, good or bad unless you really live there and experience it yourself.  :o

Just like in Thailand, how many can actually say that they knew Thailand so well before they even came here?

JemJem, could you explain more on what you meant by a country cannot be of any religion? When we say Malaysia is a Muslim country, we would mean more on the majority and the goverment are practising the Muslim religion of certain ruling.

And I am sorry to say this, BUT I think its right that the goverment imposed certain rules on the foreigners too. Cos this is also one of the many reasons why Malaysia is a peaceful country, with different races and religions. And as the saying goes, when you are in Rome, do like the Romans do. Don't mean it in a bad way or critisising anyone here, but I personally feel that this is also a way of showing respect to country that we visit.

Like what Charlie always says.. keep the smile going.... :D

  6. What TizMe said is very true. Malaysia is probably one of the most tolerent muslim countries. Besides with so many religions in the country, everyone still lives happily ever after, no fights / war ... this is also due to the strict control the goverment has on 'free speaking' etc. And mind you, there are alot of mix marriages too....

Anyway, I am sure everyone that visit malaysia will have a great time in Malaysia, just be careful with the girls, make sure you are not caught with a muslim girl in a hotel room or even a quiet park! :o

  7. Hi Jem Jem,

    To answer your question,

    1) Then the child will have to be a Muslim. If you married a Malaysian muslim, then you will have to be converted to Muslim, your kids will be muslim too.. Unless otherwise if you don't decide to settle down in Malaysia.

    2) Nope. Not eveyone needs to have a religion, but if both your parents are muslims, then you are a muslim.

  8. Gee... sorry to hear that but honestly, I think she is asking for too much... a little bit too greedy don't u think so ?  ??? Sounds like she loves your money more than you.

Your friend is right, perhaps you should seek some legal advice.

  9. Hahahaa.... my boss was there yesterday and guess what... he was complaining big time about it this morning.... em... guess must be really bad.... wonder if there is any board or authority that we can highlite this too..

Yeah... Penang is cool... nice friendly people too.. :o  anyone need any info on Penang.. i can help ... miss home too.... . :D

  10. Hahaha... read stopper's post on 'do not go to singapore' for visa.

Not too sure about the Cambodian border cause one of my friends was there, before he stamped out, the immigration guy actually told him that he is not allowed to enter immediately (since the exit and entrance is just on opposite lane) so he had to fly to indonesia instead.. u might not want to try your luck in this.

You might want to try out Mlaaysia. They have two Thai embassys there, one in KL and another one in Penang.

  11. Had a bad experience with the Singapore Thai Embassy too. Though its just a small matter, it annoyed the #### out of me. Those ppl should go for some manner-improvement class! The lady on the phone with me surely got her B*tch title after that.

Anyway.... try the Thai embassy in Penang, Malaysia. They are really friendly and the last time I was there, though they told me my company letter might not be so detailed in terms of figure, they approved my 3-month anyway with a 'M' entry for a year.

    Good luck.
