Howdy,
Can anyone kindly let me know if the tattoo artist/bar directly opp the Waterfront hotel in the FV is still there?
He did an amazing job last trip but I've lost his details. He lives with his sister and brother in law and there was a young mischievous child living there.
Are they still around?
Thanks

Howdy,
I tend to stay in Bophut when I visit Samui on vacation. Haven't been back since Feb 2011 and it's probably likely that things have changed in that time in the FV.
eg: one restaurant closes, another opens. We are looking forward to returning to Samui in June.
On previous visits, we have eaten at The Shack, Krua, Happy Elephant, Red Moon, H-Bistro (this was the standout meal on our last trip but quite pricey)I am keen to know what everyone's favourite Fisherman's Village restaurant is and would be grateful for any other Bophut area recommendations, to add to the list.
BTW, I have already read this http://samui.thaivisa.com/bophut-restaurant-guide/
Thanks.

Suprise bloody surprise. The GBP had been punching well above it's weight for way too long. Little wonder reality had to set in at some time.
If 44 THB to the 1 GBP is't good enough anymore, there's other places around the world that are cheaper. Stop your ccomplaining though.

Why do I have the feeling this is a promo thread?
I have no idea why. I was simply asking about the activity as I'm going on a short vacation to Samui in June.
If I wanted to promote, I would have given full details on the business I referred too in Lamai that offers this.
Of course, you could have looked through my short posting history before reaching your conclusion.
Please don't be so quick to judge.

That'll be this place then ... http://wateredgesports.com/about/about-us.html
Yes, that's the company.
I heard that at first, the Jetlev is fully supervised and managed via romote control, so at least that means I won't kill myself in the first 20 mins.
Fully agree that it's not a cheap thrill.

The lady in Nathon next to Will Wait restaurant.
Thanks for that suggestion. I like the idea that she makes the suits on site.
I'll be in Bophut for a week but would be willing to make a couple of trips to Nathon for a decent suit or three.

Another rather funny part, he claims he does not want to name the person but yet names the business they own, which is commonly known to everyone in Pattaya
This statement is factually incorrect.
He did name the person and the family that he believes tried to kill him.
It's in his facebook posting. He just didn't want the name published in the newpaper article.

Anyone given this a go in Lamai? Heading to Samui in June and was thinking of giving it a go.
I think its around 10,000 baht for 40 mins + instructions.

If they truly wanted to catch these illegal workers, they would not have announced the raid.

How accurate are the crime stats in Thailand anyway? If you're busted by the BIB, you pay them off, they go away and the BIB then don't report the incident.

Assuming it's the down escalators they stop, there is always the railing you can slide down.

This guy is in a "no-win" situation with this family, but the best for his safety is to get as much of the story out in the public. I would think as soon as he posts the video on u-tube he will be sued for defamation from the family. That will prevent him from leaving Thailand and may take a long time to clear. I don't see the family settling this quickly and quietly in form of cash as the "face" has to be saved.
Ahh but what if someone outside of Thailand happens to post said video on youtube?
-
Must be a lot more to this, we are only getting one half of the story here.
Without a doubt.

For those interested in that FB post, here it is -
"As some of you already know, I was assaulted last Monday. The dose of
painkillers is finally starting to go down and I now have the energy and
focus to describe what happened. I know friends and family are worried.
I’m at the hospital - alive and will survive. What happened is:
I went to sign a contract this Monday with EDIT a daughter of the EDIT Family and her husband, to renew a lease on a property.
I brought cash to pay for signing + the contract. My plan was
afterwards to meet up with my company lawyer to get my last Pattaya
businesses sorted out in order to focus on my business in Bangkok, where
i live.
When i came to the contract signing i noticed
something was wrong as her hands were shaking. I moved on, as I thought
she just had too much coffee. In hindsight I know it was because she
knew what was about to happen.
I signed all the contracts as
agreed and started putting cash on the table, but she did not sign the
contracts. Even though the contract had been agreed upon the day before.
When they became threatening, I realized they were going to steal the
money and not sign the contracts. At that time I started video filming
the incident with my iPhone. I only had chance to film a little bit
before she sent her guards after me.
I tried to escape but in
the process I got pushed and fell down a ledge where i broke both my
heel bones and a toe. After I fell down 2-3 meters on concrete floor,
one of her guards jumped from the same height and landed on my back,
causing further injury. Then 2 guards and her husband held me down while
they stole the rest of my money and my iPhone.
There were 15-20 witnesses overseeing the whole incident, and luckily one of them called for the police.
After the police arrived, I managed to get my iPhone back. However the
assaulters must have known that I had a video recording, as the sim-card
was removed and the phone smashed up. Luckily I was still able to get
the video after hooking up the phone to my laptop. The most important
part of the video is of EDIT ordering her guards to chase me
down – giving very clear evidence of who’s behind the assault.
The video and the case is at the police station and the Danish Embassy and I hope for a quick resolution.
I'm now at the hospital with 2 fractured heel bones (calcaneus), a
fractured toe and serious back injuries - wondering why someone from
such a rich family as EDIT would have me assaulted, injured and
robbed for 420,000 baht. A small amount for them, which makes me
understand the situation even less.
I have always been fair in
my business dealings. There have been no arguments before or anything
that explains to me why EDIT would treat me like this.
I'm trying to grasp the scope of it all. For the next 6-8 weeks you'll
see me in a wheel chair. I'll easily get over the loss of money.
Unfortunately the doctors say, there's a chance that I will never walk
normally without pain again."END

One must be aware that most, if not all, water sold in Thailand are contaminated with Dihydrogen Monoxide which is known to cause several deaths all around the world every year.
Thanks for that. I'll sleep well tonight......Maybe forever.
According to that dribble Dihydrogen Monoxide is used "by elite athletes to improve performance",

They wouldn't dare do this on KhaoSan.

Just give every arriving passenger a small bottle of aeroguard once they clear immigration, problem solved.
You don't happen to hold shares in the company that makes aeroguard do you ?
Not at all. I just know the tropical strength works. Yes it contains DEET.

Go home already. See how the woman back in the west flock to you.

3 million GBP? Big bloody deal in the scheme of things.
I wonder what that actually represents as a % of all profits made by said bank through their customers use of these 'cards' when they travel to Thailand?
Let's all stop using cards if the banks will no longer guarantee to cover you for theft or fraud where it can be proven.
Use cash or TC's. When the banks back home start losing out on all the fees and currency conversion margins attached to those 'cards', they will soon be forced to cop it on the chin. Part of the cost of doing business, so to speak.
