  1. I have not bought a lottery tickets here before as I could never choose the numbers I wanted. I think it would be better if there was a system where you could go into a Tesco's, Big C or 7/11 and fill in a lottery ticket form and it is fed into the till/computer system and you get your ticket. Also you only pay exactly what the ticket is worth. So say one set of numbers 40 baht, two sets of numbers 60 baht and so on. Each set of numbers containing six numbers from 1-50. Now these new tills should be stand alone units so that do not hinder other shoppers, so at the help desk area would be good place they seem to do bugger all but sit there. This would completely cut out the middle man scams and keep the ticket price at it's face value. Just my thoughts.............plus they could also hire people with disabilities to work at these counters.

  2. Well done the driver for stopping a disaster. Shame that the fire stations do not have the correct personnel on standby when most needed, which is 24/7. I wonder how many of the foreign tourists will be in trouble if their baggage with all the stuff like passports/money/credit cards has gone up in smoke.

  3. I just received my new electric bill and WOW! Last month I was so happy that it was so low at 1,400 baht. So I expected with the temperature and the slight increase of A/C use this new bill would be about 600-800 more. I was wrong! Today's new bill came in at a whopping 3,600 baht. Either they screwed up my last bill and under-charged me and now trying to pull money back or the unit to baht ratio has been changed. All I know is OUCH! I was not expecting that much. I was just wondering if anyone else has been hit with a bill like me and not expecting the cost jump. It's not even the hottest months yet!!!

  4. There seems to be a conflict between different branches of Thai Buddhism at the moment, each slandering the other. I say let's introduce a pay per view grudge match. Each can either try to out chant the other or go head-to-head beating each other with their fashionable handbags..............LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!

  5. I had to do mine in Nan immigration. They wanted copies of all the pages from my old passport, plus to fill-in the transfer form. After about 45 mins I was called up and the woman asked if I had an embassy letter I showed her the package I had received containing my new passport with all the information stating that it came from the UK plus the leaflets put inside to help us ex-pats out. She accepted it and then missed the first page of my passport and started stamping like mad over 2 whole pages. When she had finished, I thanked her as I really wanted to have to apply for a new passport again soon as I did not like my new passport pic. She had no sense of humor, but the service was free. Altogether for a 6 hour drive there and back I was shocked to have to wait 1 hour to be processed. Plus some poor Laos national who had been caught by the BIB was placed next to us as the police and immigration looked unsure what to do but scratch their asses.

  6. If you know a family member or friend in BKK, you could write a proxy letter giving the name of the person you want authority to pick it up on your behalf. I did this just before December. I wrote the letter with the name of the person. Put the documents handed to me from Trendy for pick-up and my old passport in an envelope. I sent it to my wife's sister by EMS to her house in BKK. She just had to make a copy of her ID to match with the name I put in the proxy letter and show it to them. She was able to collect and send back to me without myself having to go all the way back to BKK. I hope this helps!
