  2. You are legally married as your marriage in Sweden is recognised by Thailand. (You will register the fact that you are already married in Sweden with the Thai government, so they have knowledge of the marriage and it is easier to proof.).

You are already the legal father of the child, also under Thai law.

    Thanks Mario.

Do I have parental rights as well going with that? Are parental rights shared equally fifty-fifty, or does she, as a native mother, have an "edge" or or do I as father (patriarchal society) have more of an edge?

  3. so do I understand that right ? If you want a multiple-O based on marriage, you don't need to show ANY proof of income or funds, whereas if you want to apply for a non-O based on age (50+), you need to show income or funds even for a SINGLE entry ? that would be...... weird, isn't it ? I actually want to apply for a multiple non-O based on age (50+), as I don't have a need to transfer it into a 1-year-non-O with no exits necessary. I never use the full 90 days anyway. But this seems to be not possible in Savannakhet (or elsewhere) ?

If you were to go to Vientiane you could possibly get a single entry non-o with no funds.

You will not get a multiple entry in the region for being 50 or over.

Hi Joe. I'm reading your post as if one "normally has to show adequate funds" to obtain a multiple entry N-O visa. But that it's possible to get a single in Vientiane. Is that correct? I have never shown any funds to get my multiple N-O's but they where all applied from sweden. Is there a difference when one applies from this region?

  4. Great info but what about my case, wife and I are married in Sweden alone. (living in thailand though) My son is born in Sweden as well. Our family registration in Sweden says that I'm the father and wife is the mother (obviously). The registration papers are in English as well as in Swedish and has the Swedish Government stamp. We planning to register our marriage here but out of curiosity?

  5. I actually found and bought one. At IKEA they got it and quite a lot of other Xmas foods. I also bought Gravlax and smoked salmon

Out of curiosity how much was the ham and for what size?

Sorry for my late answer. It was 1000 thb and around 2 kilo.

And it was wonderful. Tasted just like home.

  6. At immigration you will apply for an extension of stay, not a visa.

The extension will be for 1 year and if you want to be able to leave and return to Thailand while keeping your extension alive, you will need a re-entry permit. (single 1,000 baht and a multiple 3,800 baht).

Thanks for the clarification. So if I understand you correctly the only way to get the 1 year multiple N-O visa is to get it from a embassy?

  7. And further, my wife is here with me but we don't have any paperwork with us. That's all in bkk. (We're all in Nongkhai)

In Nong Khai: I guess the best you can try for now, is to get another single Non O in Vientiane.

Get back to Thailand, get a 90 day entry and then sort out your situation at the local immigration office.

E.g. by applying for an extension of stay as described.

A Non-O is the right starting point for that.

    Whats your intention?

Want to stay for a year and probably longer? (indefinite)

My intention is to stay as long as possible, however I have to be back in Sweden for 2 month visit in June.

  8. You apply for the extension at an immigration office not at the embassy in Vientiane.

If you want multiple entry non-o visa you will have to go to Savannakhet. You cannot get a multiple entry visa at immigration.

Would you recommend to apply for a new visa instead of the extension? I think I can get all the paperwork here in 2 day's. In that case I'll be going to Savannakhet.

  9. Since you are married to a Thai you can apply for 60 day extension to visit your wife.

The after that 60 days you can apply for a one year extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon marriage or retirement.

After yoi get the extension you can then a apply for a re-entry permit. Single is 1000 baht and a multiple is 3800 baht.

Joe thanks again!! But can I ask for the 60 days extension in Vientiane? Last time they said they don't issue multiple N-O. So I'm worried that they don't "do it all" up there.

And further, my wife is here with me but we don't have any paperwork with us. That's all in bkk. (We're all in Nongkhai)

  10. With a 15 day visa exempt entry you will have to apply for a 30 day extension before you can convert to an extension of stay based on .......?

You will have to apply in Bangkok and return 15 days later to get the actual conversion.

So there's no problem with the Visa already expired the 12th then when applying for a new? An extension will do?
  11. So, on my last visit to Vientiane I only got a single N-O. Now it's time for a trip again. As they only gave me a single entry, does that mean that I have to visit the embassy again or is it enough to cross the border to get stamped?

    Thanks!

Edit, in fewer words, is it possible to do visarun on a N-O single entry visa?

  12. I finished off brining 5 kg of pork into ham last Friday.

I cut into 4 pieces and left 2 as normal boiled ham and bunged them into the freezer and the other 2 pieces I decided to make a honey and mustard glaze and roast them.

I cooked the lot as in Bills cooked ham v03 and did the honey and mustard bit using the other recipe.

When I made the glaze I made twice the amount given in the recipe and when I spread it over the ham iy was a bit thin and runny.

I roasted it in my table top oven and let it cool then bunged it into the fridge.

On Saturday morning I sliced some of the ham and had it in a homemade bread roll.

When it was cooling down I was drooling a bit and when I tasted it the texture and flavour was yummy.

The big drawback was cleaning the grill and oven tray afterwards even though I used aluminium foil.

The really good news for me is that none of my family want to eat any.
