While the cab driver makes me happy by his goodness the Indonesian guys make me angry as hell. In my country there's a ppls law (it might even be a real law, I'm not sure) that finders fee is at least 10% of the sum. Greedy bastards!

Gee, when I was very young I saw JAWS and I was scared shitless of swimming. Now this! I'll refuse being shitless in my own toilet. Now I'm looking past my jewelries monitoring the water level in the bowl. Slightest movement and I'm out of there with my shorts around my ankles! Geeees!

Ok thanks everyone and excuse my ignorance in these matters.
Anyway you don't think there will be any problems about getting in again after going out to apply for the new visa? Read about ppl having problems with getting back in when have overstay there time here. And the crackdown in general.

I see but a 1 year non o visa can or can not be renewed? If not then ppl have to get out of the country to apply for a new visa?
-
Anyway I been told that I could have a 1 year extension/renewal of my non o att the migrations office. But now when it not valid anymore I don't know.
-
Thanks Joe. I'd really need a multiple entry visa though.
-
Being totally focused on other things I've discovered that I'm not only one month over stayed but my 1 year non o visa went invalid as of 8 of October. Now what can I do? I was planning to just get a prolonged non o visa at immigrations in bkk. But now what? Is that even an option for me now? I worrying about going over any border right now and think I'll wait for Monday to talk with migration office.

Hi we just had our home renovated by thais and it leaves a lot to wish for. Now we want to find a skilled westerner to finish the job. Also we want to set up an brick arched wall. The job includes plastering and painting. So if you are one or can recommend one please let us know.
It's not a big job and we think it could be done by one person in 2-2 1\2 days. Location is Bkk upper Ladprao.
Regards Magnus -
Once they're back in Sweden they can enjoy the famous swedish jail hospitality. As someone said, it will feel as a 5 Star resort, with private room, cable Tv, private inroom toilet, great food 4 times a day, a paid(!!!) daily job (weekends off of course), free gym and lot's of socialising out- and in-doors.
Oh, by the way, in Sweden you only serve 2 thirds of your sentence. Anyone who wants to make a bankjob and secures the cash before getting caught, will have nice 4 to 8 years stay at the resort before getting out to the milk and honey. Perhaps holiday in Thailand?

Forgot to mention the free laptop and Internet they will have too.

I'm not a supporter of Thasksin, but of democracy. I'm a supporter of real elections without the threats of cowards. Yes, there's plenty of possible mistakes that the elected gov made but then thais hss to rule them out, democratically! Is this sooo hard to understand? Where do you ppl come from?? Russia? It surely looks that way. Cool your heads and think a little! !!!
What wise person would? We'll we all knew she would refuse and for the reasons she has given. She doesn't know what to say without a lot of help.
Never understood diplomatic language did you?
Stuphed wants to keep this at a kindergarten level. Macho man, as he thinks he is.
Come on ppl on TV, are you so empty headed that you can't see that this is a clown with a lethal mission?

Oh please, doesn't The Nation feel embarrassed to write such lie?
How can they even begin to call this "peaceful demonstrations"??

^ Your condemnation was seen at the time, but you're not a forum supporter of the red shirts.
That excluded you from being included in my post above.
Fair enough :-)
However I'm a supporter of democracy and FAIR elections.

Through the night and 130 posts later, we don't have condemnation of the violence yet, but we do have its polar opposite. Bizarrely, we have praise for the violence from their forum supporters, which even the red shirt leaders haven't done. Can't be easy to be more red than red shirt leaders.
An afternoon and 80 posts later, still nothing from either. The ever-present lack of condemnation by other red shirt leaders and forum supporters.
Good for the Chiang Mai redshirts!
Thank goodness for the Chiang Mai redshirts!
Read them again then. I'd condemned it earlier in this thread.

Chiang Mai Redshirts Attack PCAD Rally
By Khaosod English
BANGKOK: -- Scores of pro-government supporters have attacked the anti-government rally in Chiang Mai province yesterday.
Demonstrators of the People′s Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD) were organising a rally under the theme of "We will give love to Chiang Mai" in front of Wat Jed Yod Temple to show their solidarity with fellow anti-government protests in Bangkok.
At 13.30, over 200 Redshirts calling themselves "Independent Chiang Mai Reds" arrived, led by Mr. Abhichart Insorn, near the PCAD rally and approached the anti-government protesters in threatening manner, causing PCAD demonstrators to flee into the temple.
Approximately 60 police officers attempted to separate the two rival protest groups from each other by closing the gate of the temple where PCAD demonstrators were taking shelter.
The Redshirts then proceeded to dismantle the PCAD rally stage, burning the banners and throwing stage structures into the nearby canal.
PCAD supporters later fled the area via the temple′s backdoor. No injury has been reported.

I'll condemn these actions by the reds. It's not in their best interest to stop a peaceful demonstration as that is democracy in its core.
Only god thing here is that Khaosod proves that they can give straightforward non biased news.

My farang wife didnt work , we had 4 kids , so Im quite used to giving money to my partner and therefore see nothing wrong with giving an allowance to my new Thai partner.
I dont know their opinions on here dont seem represented , but every man I know who lives in Phuket or CM does this , and doesnt see anything wrong with it, as a matter of fact.
Just the same as you dont.
Surely they cant ALL be being taken for a ride as some respondents would have it...
A waitress or shop assistant around here will earn about 10k a month , some a bit more with tips, and I can understand those husbands who want their wife to earn something like that if the house needs money.
But its not for me , I am retired and dont work , and the 60 hour work week that is required for my 'wife' to bring in that amount is simply too long a work week.
Thus I give her 12k a month , about $100 US a week , when I used to give my ex $1000 a week . So it looks like a good deal to me , and of course , as I live here , all the traditional wifely duties are taken care of. They are also taken care with a good deal more enthusiasm and good nature than I had before.
Though , in fairness , this time there is only one child , her happy little grand daughter.
So I think that 15k is enough , a little too high if there are no kids , but up to you.
If your 'wife' is incapable of budgeting that , as mine was initially , spread it , as somebody wisely said, over 2 payments.
You are 'between a rock and a hard place' I know , because you are trying to save to move to LOS , and the more you send over , the less you can save for that purpose. You should ask her nicely to think about that ...
But every relationship has its tests , and by refusing to up the money , you are making a very small test of your relationships strength , as well as not making some crazy rod for your own back. Of course if you keep giving more , when you finally get here she will be expecting you to keep doing so , and thus its a pity you didnt start off lower , giving you room to at least look more generous.
My advice is to learn to grunt or remain silent about her expenditures on family. They will only mirror her behaviour and start asking for more as they see the tap doesnt appear to have any "off" valve.
Im leaning with the opinions here that she can always work the 60 hours , and near double her money if she cant keep up the families supply , and its a natural consequence that she may become a tad more frugal when its her hard earned going straight out the door.
I wouldnt tell her outright she has to get a job , but it could be a helpful suggestion by you once she embarked on some "Mumma needs.." story.
Finally , Do You Have a Plan? To me thats vital to keep the tg on track and looking toward a future...
What a good post!
To not assume so much but give from your own experience. So different from some of the "jackals" that think that all thai girls are gold diggers, prostitutes or both. As someone said they just dont get the thing about support your gf or wife!? Would they be the same in a relation with a farang wife in the homeland? If so, I can see why they moved here. I f one trust n' love one's partner and are away for a time (or otherwise), and the partner doesn't have enough income for some understandable reason then of course one is supportive, if possible.
Especially if you're planning on settling here.
I f we're talking about a gick (kik) or a professional then it might be very different of course.
But why why, does it always have to be so presumptuous in these posts? Did the humanity stay put in the homeland?

Danish tour operator halts 11 out of 17 elephant tours
in Thailand News
Posted
Well what the article states is that the travel agent IS supporting elephant trekking IF IT'S carried out in a way that cares about the animal's welfare.
This is a way to actively change the way, some of the trekking vendors, treat their animals.
So it's a win win situation. If the Mahouts or trekking company's make sure that the elephants have a good life, as possible, they will be on the list of the "god" and they can keep up the business and the elephants get it better.
What's wrong about that?
