  1. If a surveyor has a copy of the Chanote, and if the land has physical Chanote posts, it is easy for you to place your own pegs for each one rai plot, from dimensions that the surveyor would supply you with. Surveyor doesn't need to visit the site. If the land is reasonably flat and clear all you'd need is a surveyor's tape and a few pegs, (and know how to triangulate) and you and 'er indoors could wrap it up in a couple of early mornings before it gets hot.

If I wasn't a 16hr drive away from you I'd do a site visit. I could still draft out a plan for you, but would require a copy of the Chanote plan. Don't need a copy of the full page of the Chanote, just the plan and the scale to which the plan is drawn. No charge.....if that helps.

  2. I have used this system on projects in the UK and Europe, for internal plastering on system building panels such as Structherm Panels. A similar system -with a different mix- is also used for external proprietary rendering also used on system building panels, but I have never seen it in Thailand.

The equipment I used was manufactured by Greco. A couple of years ago I saw Greco had a stand at the Architect Expo in Bangkok and a manufacturer's agent in Bangkok. I didn't check to see what products they were promoting though.

If you want a quick easy solution to internal plastering, without employing a plasterer and want to D.I.Y. I would suggest gypsum dry-lining either directly onto the infill masonry, or onto an aluminium frame which leaves a useful void in which to run services and insulation.

  3. The longest dimensions should run along an East-West axis as this will minimise the exposure of external classroom walls to direct sun. 2m minimum overhanging eaves on the north and south elevations of a pitched roof with a vented gable at the west and east, each with long 3m overhanging lean-to roof slopes below the ventilation providing shade to the west and east walls if site conditions allow. At least try to shade the east wall, as the west wall will be less of a problem if the west rooms are not used after 4pm.
