  1. Hey guys

I heard of someone getting the visa. They applied 28th May 2014, got the visa 16th april 2015.

    Got the visa yet?

I have been reading on other forums that the average time is 9 months. Some have been getting them in 8 months, but I have not seen one that is over 11 months.

I read that when it gets to about 11 months and depending on circumstances the embassy will ask you if 1 month will be enough time to travel to Australia. If so then no issues. If not then the wife needs to get another medical and police check done to extend the entry time past 12 months.

For me 1 month certainly would not be enough time as we have to sell the house, all assets etc before we can move over.

Good luck anyway and let us know when it is granted.

No visa yet, 11 months on the 5th. Waiting times have been extended and are lengthy atm.

No wife, its a boyfriend. One week would be suffice for us, we are keeping the house bikes etc in Thailand.

  2. Hi Guys

Any updates on visa grants, my partner submitted her PMV Subclass 300 at VFS on 28 September 2014 so I am hoping the wait time will be 9-10 months.

She did get contacted on 11 Feb to provide an additional document and CO says application is now complete. Had no more contact since late Feb.

    Allan

We have had no update yet. Applied 5th June, 2014. 10.5 months so far, others i know are 11 mnths with still no update either.

  3. Because it is end of the school year and we need to move our step son up into new school we too would like some indication ( before we spent a small fortune on fee and uniforms etc) but we have only received a "wait your Turn" email reply. I am not complaining as i understand we must wait our turn , that is only fair but at the same time we do need to make future plans. Frustrating indeed.

    When did u apply?

  4. Many years ago i had a boarding house in Sydney that was a women's only house.

One lady wanted to stay at my house but at that time it was full, i helped her get a

room in my neighbors home, this lady was from Colombia, some years later i meet

the neighbor who helped this lady, the neighbor tells me the Colombian lady was so

desperate to stay in Australia that she got herself pregnant to stay in the country,

upon the birth of the child she was deported back to Colombia, she was given a

choice to take or leave the child (as the child has citizenship or could be adopted)

They both left,, this government shows no mercy.

Met a young Thai husband & wife in Perth last year, both were on study visas and had a child born in Perth during their time there. When I met them they were getting ready to depart for Bangkok, their study visas were finished and they had to depart the country. They told me they were sad to leave Australia and wanted to remain but could not. I asked that as their kid is an Aussie citizen can't they find a way to remain. They told me the kid is not an Aussie citizen, the kid could not qualify for citizenship due to the parents not having citizenship, so the kid was registered Thai through the Thai Embassy.

Of course! You can only become citizen when one if the parents is a citizen... Thats not new!

  5. Congratulations . You must be so happy .

We dont have the visit yet xen, i was just saying how over waiting we are!

Sorry I misunderstood. I must be projecting how happy i will feel when ( and i guess, if) ours come through .

I feel your pain & happiness when we get it. When did u apply xen?

we applied in July and so if it is 9 months approx for the verdict it will be April May for us. I think you are a little ahead of us.

Oh yes we applied 5th june. So we shouldnt be too much longer now!

  6. So here's where in at ......

Wife is here on a tourist visa 12 month visa with max stay of 3 months at a time .

While the partner visa is being processed lodged 10/9/2014

Anyway the wife WAS pregnant was 30 weeks and we where due to go back to Thailand for a bit on the 1/2/15 as her first 3 month visit was going to be up on the 28/2/15

    Anyway the baby came early

    Real early

Baby Curtis was born at 04:53 am Australia Day ..... Aussie Aussie Aussie haha

Anyway he is 10 weeks premature and going to be in hospital for a while but he is doing just fine

Thought I should address the situation of the wifes visa pretty quick so I tried an online application for tourist visa extension applied 9:30pm 27/1/15 and got it granted at 3:00pm 28/1/15 she is able to stay until 27/11/2015 with no requirement to enter or exit the country . I'm really hailing the partner application is finalised and we can go to Thailand to pick that up befor then though haha .

They didn't even give me time to upload any supporting docs for the visa application they just granted it

    Am stoked about everything

Bit of a surprise baby coming so quick but it has worked out fine .

    For those of you wondering

Baby has gone into my private health cover immediately so no cost involved there . And have already applied for birth certificate and Medicare .

And the wifes total bill for hospital . $4200

Bangkok hospital in Korat quoted me $2300

    So I'm not to upset

    Cheers and happy days

    Fress

    Congrats!! Pretty cheap too, considering!

Best placw for him is in Australia, as a nurse it makes me happy to know he wasnt 10 weeks prem in Thailand :)

Great about the extension aswell. Hopefully your partner visa comes through soon for you all.

  7. The reason to return is the graduation ceremony in 2016 (7 months away from planned arrival) of which i will be attending aswell.

No further stay is fine. We will be applying for prospective marriage visa in early 2016.

Having a joint bank, where money only comes from your account, isnt going to do you any favours.

Like i said, send money to her account. Thats actually better for the visa, than a joint account.

We have been through the process, i only went to australia for a few months, twice, and sent money every fortnight while i was away. He saved it in his account for my return.

Yes, its annoying with exchange rates.... But welcome to all those annoying things u have to do to get an Australian visa :)

  8. Hello gentlemen, new member here seeking advice.

I would like to open a joint bank account with my Thai girlfriend to help solidify our claim to genuine relationship status. I am a full time working Australian, and she is a Thai university student. She has no income except for what her mother sends her to live off, which is not enough to save.

We will be applying for her first tourist visa in about May and hope to get a 6 month visit to Australia. She will obtain a letter that states she will need to return by February 2016 to receive her diploma from the Royal Family.

My question is, how, and where, should we open a joint account?

Can it all be done while we are not physically together? I was not planning to visit Thailand again until after she has used the tourist visa. We will then apply for prospective marriage visa.

To open a joint bank account, you need to both sign the application papers etc in the shop, also show your passport.

Im a female aussie, thai boyfriend. Together 3 yrs. We opened a bank with K Bank, but noone else would give us one, as i dont have a work permit.

send money to her thai bank account regularly. Then print off the history of her account.

  9. Im Australian, living in Thailand on tourist visas... I dont work, i was last in australia from April until aug 2013 to work.

I obtained a double entry tourist visa, as we are waiting for my thai partners PR visa for Aus to come through.

Ive extended my second entry by the 30 days allowable already. Am i able to extend by a further 7 days?
