  1. Well called them today (just under 18 weeks ) spoke to somebody in the PR visa section of the australian embassy bangkok he said we don't have a case officer as yet but will hear from one in the next 2 weeks or so letting us know if they require anything else .

What stage is final queuing ? Is that classed as after you have heard from a case officer ?

    Thanks

    Matt

You wont hear alot till the 6 month mark, or maybe not at all. We are 7 month mark, but have used an agent and he only heard when they wanted more information to support his character reference, they asked for that at the 4.month mark. We had a case officer really early on, the agent said its due to the fact we are the opposite of most cases: Australian female and thai male.

  2. Why tell me things i dont want to hear?

    Why waste each others time?

Im after advice on the processes of what i want to happen.

Not seeking alternative lifestyle choices or any mentoring on how to behave or think.

Thanks in advance to those who can see what i want to know.

We have let you know she isnt elligible for a partner visa, unless you get married. Even then your wait is till around 8 months.

Prospective marriage visa, same wait. Must be married within 9 mnths of entry, then u apply fir partner visa anyway.

Tourist visa, google it & the proof she needs. It doesnt soynd like she has any proof.

Working holiday. Education visa (she needs 18, 000 aud in the bank to apply andcan work 18 hours a week only).

All options take time. None of them are easy. Easy doesnt exist in Australian immigration.

  3. I will not be sharing a bank account with anyone, ever.

    Is that really a requirement?

Not a requirement, but holds alot of weight and shows alot over a period of 12months, with the ins and outs.
    Yeah, that wont happen either.

If we just get married does that get rid of the need to be defacto etc?

You need to be willing to make sacrifices, i save enough to pay all my debts monthly and live ontourist visas.

If you arent willing to do the hard yards, it wont last. Youll go crazy! Visas arent easy for australia, there is NO quick fix.

    I am making sacrifices.

The whole point of getting her here is so we can make aussie money and retire to thailand sooner.

Im not going to live in thailand and sleep on the floor or live a backpacker life.

I wish you the best of luck.

I would sleep on the floor for the rest of my life, if thats all i ever had with my partner.

We dont lead a backpacker life, its called the thai life. Sonething you obviously arent interested in. Something you wouldnt survive in.

And why would i want to exactly?

Is anyone here going to actually help or just try to push their shitty poverty lifestyle on me?

I want her to live here with me.

    Whats so hard to understand?

Have i not been clear in what i want to hear??

Shitty poverty lifestyles? Thats where you are wrong. You know nothing about this country.

May i add, i triedto help, but you were rude.

We've all told you things you dont want to hear, so you've hit the roof.

I suggest you read the 'marriage and divorce' section of thaivisa.

Goodluck with your endeavours. Sincerely hope it works out and you find a quick and easy visa.

Yes. But you still need to show a reasonable relationship.

Take e advice of all of us that live and have lived in thailand. Dont marry her for a visa. You dont know her, or her family.

  7. I suggest a working holiday visa, this gives her 12 month, then she has to do 3 months rural work to get another 12 months.

By then, youll have 12mnths proof of living together, along with bank accounts 12 months of photos (3 weeks will get you denied, even with a tourist visa) letters emails, skype, thats only 1/20 of it.

Its a bloody long and hard process. Im an aussie female, dating a thai guy who is too old for the working visa.... Ive done the hard yards, slept on hard floors, stayed with his family, lived in thailand for 3 years....

Its not easy & it never will be, but its worth it.

For a great agent in Sydney, check out 'my access australia'. Agents are expensive, but so worth it in my opinion.

Even with a tourist visa, you need to show your relationship of a reasonable amount of time, her bank account, a job or reasonable reason for her to return.

Working holiday visa is not so easy for a Thai, requirements, criteria etc at URL below

    http://www.immi.gov.au/visas/pages/462.aspx

Alot easier than anything else he will apply for! Partner visa will be denied until 12 mnths proof of living together.

Having a baby or being married means the 12mnth proof isnt needed any longer, but you still need proof of an ongoing relationship to the exclusion of all others.

But how do you live together without a visa?

It seems a lot of these requirements are out dated.

Have they heard of skype, smartphones etc?

Sacrifices u make in cross cultural relationships... Live with her in thailand! There are too many women and men having online relationships with 100 at a time.. Im not saying that of yours, but you cant have an ongoing relationship without seeing eachother more than 2 wks a year ..

You have to sacrifice. You have to put everything on the line. Go live witg her, live a thai life, cos that aint easy either.

  10. Yes got a agent ...and yes they have notified us that they recieved it 10 months ago..,

My agent is confident they haven't lost it .,!

If we don't get a replie from the email my wife has sent, she will send that same email every day till we get some kind of resonance.. I don't care now if they say anather 4,5,8 weeks just tell us somthing ..!!

Your agent should be sending emails for you! Thats the whole point, and the reason why you pay them.

  11. Well if Xen applied in June then we are now race buddies....

    David48 Vs Woody087

    Good one Oz. Congratulations.

    Guess i owe you a beer .

We now have to work out how to be in the same place at the same time to buy you that beer. I am planning, wishing and hoping to be in BKK in April next year to pick up my little darling /s and bring them home.

We applied in June aswell! Fingers crossed!

  12. Just to clarify , i am married still to my first wife but we are in the process of divorce and property settlement as we speak. Very stressful time - so many things are happening at the moment . We were married in 1986 and separated 5 years ago and i have been in this relationship for that 5 year period. We have been thru the village wedding etc and i regard her as my wife . She has two children who are great and are almost as crazy as what i am . It sounds like i need to supply more evidence but the wording of the letter requesting " information from another person or organisation about your health, your ability to satisfy public interest visa criteria(including your character and police history, your English proficiency,or your skills and qualifications". is still what i am unsure of. I guess i need to email them for clarification .

Also wish i hadn't cleaned up my emails , computer and office recently - always knew that all the clutter would be useful sometime.Too late now.

The book that James put a link to is a great help. Wish i had known about it before - recommended reading.

Thanks for everybody's imput. Really appreciate it.

    Thought id help you!

We also received this automated email via our agent.

We received itdue to my boyfriends police record from 14 years ago.

So wr are supplying more evidence of his character, such as letters from police etc that we know snd yhst know him well.

  13. Does anyone know how my partner obtains an international driving permit for Aus?

Check over in the Motoring Forum ... question has been asked before. Off-hand, I don't know the answer though.

Checked the pinned topics at the top of that page.

Also, on a Thai Drivers Licence, most Australian States allow 3 months driving on a valid Thai License before insisting on more.

Yeahh but qld doesnt i read!
