Imagine if mullets were permanent....

There is no tree.... Oh there is now

So basically, if you were well off in the West you are very well off in Thailand. And so we can extrapolate that if you're pss poor in the west, you won't be staying in Thailand for long

Respect mate. Good luck

You could think of duel pricing as the Thais getting a discount.....

Maybe you should just ask her.......

My suggestion would be..... go to Pattaya and look around. You should have before even thinking of the investment. I'm no expert but opening yet another hotel there is not going to make anyone rich

Perhaps some of the posters on here would find that kind of behaviour defined as harassment and stalking if it was a ladyboy doing it to them.....

A man can lose his mind in Thailand, and then his soul, and then his way...... This is the attraction

Sounds very much the same as any bar in UK, if you don't show respect to some pisshead. Just behave yourself wherever you are in the world

Beconese is available over the counter in UK for treatment of Hay Fever etc. it's been one of the few things to clear up my Hay Fever. It's not a strong drug but can make your mucus membrane a bit thin

I find all software that tries to organise your music to be over complicated bloatware. Call me crazy but I like to have a folder named Music, then inside that folder are folders containing a music album each, these are automatically arranged by any operating system to be displayed in alphabetical order. Anything else is nonsense.
Why do they try to over complicate something so straight forward? All this syncing, cloud nonsense.

Who would have thought that when a country is taken over by a nationalistic army coup that foreigners would be targeted.... not the ones originally supporting it obviously. Open your eyes everyone, this is what happens.

He knew that Thailand was hot, had cheap beer, great women but not the way petty crimes are dealt with? If you can't do the time..... Being a dick and it being tolerated is a western sickness

In the UK they promise tax cuts insteadI cannot hear this shit with "democratically elected government"anymore!
They paid the rural volks to vote for them and the undereducated rural volk did not know better...cross here and the next bottle of thai wiskey on the new government.

Those glasses never fit, I was being slightly sarcastic in that post but the bottom line is that it's the way they operate.

But has the world ended due to this bad service? Has Thailand gone broke? Do Farangs go back home because of this attitude and shop in friendly British shops.... err no. It's Thailand, like it or lump it. Up to you ;-)

This is the one nugget of truth everyone should remember. Sums up the situation with my ex Thai gf. And we met and live in the UK. If she keeps giving you excuses about why she can't do things like going for a meal, cinema, being seen with out with you in public, staying over etc then walk away now, very fast as she is hiding things from you. I took a long time to realise this.Wanting to spend quality time with someone is human nature, nothing to do with culture.... if she's avoiding that and hiding behind excuses, however plausible they may sound... then she simply isn't that bothered about spending time with you.
Good luck

Interesting reading about everyone's experiences. I'm still debating about retirement there in the future. I'm 50 now, maybe in 8 years or so. I'll see how the LOS handles itself over the next few years before making a final decision

I think there are a lot of injuries from Thai massage we never hear about. Obviously a sudden death like this we would tend to hear about it. I am sure many of these massage workers are not properly skilled and trained and has been said medical screening is pretty much unheard of.
This unfortunate man probably thought he was going in for something relaxing. Thai massage is often not relaxing at all. I especially think the groin pressure thing and the quick head twisting are extremely questionable from a medical point of view, especially in the hands of the unskilled.
This is one of the reasons I stopped going to a chiropractor despite still getting back pain. The neck twist can prove fatal

I went to the island on the ferry in February. Very sad, tragic loss of life. This is what you get when there is no Health and Safety and avoidance of red tape. These things are essential

As for the head touching thing, it's not that a big a deal. I once stroked my ex Thai gf head and she said... Why you do that, I am not cat.
