  1. Needless to say the damm thing belongs to the wife (week before me)and was full of about 500 Mars bars (didnt know)but at least the customs guy seemed amused

Mr Rinrada, a friend of mine fedexed me about a pound of home grown "catnip" to my house in Vungtau in plain zip lock bags ( inside the fed ex box). The look on the mail carrier when I opened the box in front of him was priceless :D

I wasn't expecting the fed ex, and so the expression on my face was equally priceless :o

  2. If they ask why you refuse, just tell them what i said.  I have been scanned since my departure and my luggage has security tags on it and it is not tampered with, so therefore i refuse the scan.  Then say Khop Khun and get out of there and mind your own business.

No Mr/mrs customs officer you cannot search my bag cos Dave Yo says you cant alright. Khop Khun :DB)

    LOL!

  3. marquess, that was right on the money.

I knew a "cowboy" way back in the heyday of Miami in 1978. Was involved with "bringin it in" from Cuba and Colombia although of course fidel ( ###### socialism doesn't work, so might as well allow "other" ways of cash flow) knew nothing about it ( sure). Wet runs were happening weekly to the Keys and life seemed real good financially ( a Lot!) for a couple years.

Then everyone ( well nearly everyone) was caught and that cost everyone years.

Pot was the eeeeeevil drug. The "rats" made a deal with the feds, in return for a quantity of what these dummies got caught for, plus coke, a new name and who knows where they are now. Pretty much put a stop to MOST of the pot coming in to south florida and not long afterward, indoor grown stuff became the norm. Then about 2 years later it was in the newspaper that there was an "epedemic" of useage of the "hard stuff". Gee what a coincidence huh?

What happened to the rest of the crew? Hmmm, well one's life resembles that of the Soprano's. One owns a multimillion dollar diamond shop, one became a very well known and respected numismatist and art dealer, a few are dead, another owns a tire store. One simply kept on and just wouldn't stop, merely changing countries ( jamaica mon) and ultimately went on to getting caught again. One had a movie made about him ( the big rat) and was shot and killed in louisiana after the same government made a deal with him and then doublecrossed him ( what a surprise!). But everyone lost years first. It wasn't worth it.

If it were legal, none of the players would have been involved as it wouldn't have been so exciting and profitable.

Government is about force, power and control and that is it. If you have an "in' as in ollie north ( or higher up?), you can do these things. If you don't, then better off doing something else, rather than potentially lose a major part of life, or life itself. They win, you lose and that's the way it is.

Begs, you can make the same arguments that have been made but the fact is, it's a game played by those who have the power and if you don't, it's best off left alone. But you're right, there's no difference what the actual substance is.

Gee did I just make an indictment?

  4. A western medico friend of mine got sick and went to Bumrungrad Hospital. He was absolutely overawed at the standard of care and the facilities there.

    Oh it's nice symbolically. Substantively?

That's a different story. That's where I went for the AD.

Cheap enough from a money point of view. Buck and a half for the doppler and full check up. Would have cost me my life.

    Mr Vietnam :o

  5. I had an arterial doppler done in bangkok. Not only was it done half assed, but medication was prescribed for "stroke"! The way a friend of mine who is an MD, was that I "would have" had a stroke had I taken the medication as prescribed. It would have induced one.

  6. these guys have lots of power and boy do they like to use it!!

It's human nature. That's why it's also wise to involve a US Senator or Congressman. You've been gone from California for more than 6 months so you may have lost your "constituency" status.

So it's better to be nice to your usual Congressman's Consular Laison. Get them on your side and it signals to the much lower on the food chain consular employee that "somebody else in the US" cares about your case.

    Mr Vietnam  :o

  7. Lived with my wife for more than 2 years in Asia. Can you believe the consular creep asked for phone bills? ( and we had a lot of photos)

They do not accept emails or anything related. Copies of plane tickets, actual photos ( dated ones are best), etc and anything tangible that will show a "relationship" is helpful.

Notarized statements from her parents mean nothing.

  8. Post 9/11 has seen changes that make even the most ardent statists complain sometimes.

I fedexed mine from Samui. Was kicked back for the photos. Not a single shop in Samui either knew how to make them precise ( was advised to fly to bkk ha!) or were too lazy/arrogant.

Finally found a back of a drug store place where they just couldn't believe a Vietnamese and American living in Santi Thani were doing this and allowed my fiance to play on their computer and she got it right.

Fedexed again and the process started for real. The best part was "only the photos" were kicked back ( perhaps because a lawyer was involved) and not the whole file. That saved time.

Then there is the issue of $$$. You must file and if you haven't or had a sharp accountant show losses for previous years, you better be prepared to ante up the taxes on 125% of the poverty line ( about 15K ) whicg equates to app 3400/yr for 3 years back and 5 years forward although the forward isn't such a concern.

We had to laugh as I lost tons in the preceeding 2 years but couldn't claim that. I had to pay as though I were in profit!

    Free huh? Ha!

You will need the police report from local Thai pd. I have no idea how to do that in thailand. In Vnam, they KNOW the golden goose just walked in and it meant an envelope under the table to get it done relatively quickly.

    Take it seriously.

    Good luck again

P.S. Forget email copies. Yu need actual letters, and phone bills.

    Mr Vietnam

  9. Cmon now Axel, now everybody knows it's a "free" country! That is as long as he runs as a republican or democrat, he just may be allowed to run for anything he can afford!

Now if real changes to the power structure could be attained thru voting.......well then voting would just have to be made illegal. To keep everyone "safe" of course. For "freedom".

So for now, no worries mate as they say!

  11. We own several asian internet penpal, matchmaking services and other websites specific to Vietnam the USA and are in all likelyhood expanding into Thailand. We have contracted in recent days to completely rebuild 2 of the dating sites, using a main database of which "clones" or satellites will also be created and made available to others who want to own an internet business for income without the hassle of finding inventory, taking orders etc. We have contacts interested in building more than a dozen "clones" after the 1st of the year ( after the new main site is launched)

We intend to market this concept as well.

We are engaged in discussions with a few SEO people to do work on the main site for a very small fee, in return for referring them as "our SEO guy/team" to the others who shall be creating said clones. Obviously we are looking for the best person who is most qualified and offers the best deal.

If you are qualified as such and have an interest in exploring this with us, PM me accordingly. This could become an on-going opportunity for the right person.

Side note for those interested in owning a semi hands on dating website business: We are the only licensed service of this type in Vietnam, hence this represents and opportunity for the investor as well. Principles only.

    Sincerely

    Mr Vietnam  :o

  13. Yes you are.

    Now please vote Libertarian.

    http://www.lp.org

It's never going to happen as this government really really enjoys the money it steals too much to permit any real freedom from taking place.

Certainly there is no doubt in anyones mind that this current group is not for smaller less government huh?

I think an excerpt from our african ameriican brudda's from the 1960's might happen and that would probably be a good thing.

I'll be on the beach. Thank goodness for bidness accounts in hong kong.
