TM30 and immigration
zombie nights replied to daejung's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thank u for your helpful post. Now I have been away for a few times and for a few days (BKK to Pattaya stayed hotel). I have no idea if the hotel filed a TM 30 for me. I thought if I in BKK on retirement extension and away from my permanent address in Thailand for a few days to another place in Thailand then no need to file anything with CW immigration? -
TM30 and immigration
zombie nights replied to daejung's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I will be doing my retirement extension in the next month. I have a copy of my Landlords TM 30 filed. I have not left Thailand since that was filed. So no need to make a new TM 30 right? -
90 Day Reporting Grace Period ?
zombie nights replied to NickyLouie's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just to clarify and it is my understanding: If you do your 90 day on line and at the end of the 15 day your App is not approved then Immigration told me specifically there is another 7 days grace period. If by that time there is no on line approval you can can go to immigration in person within the 7 days grace period and get the 90 day approval. By going to the immigration in that period you are doing your App in person and not on line. -
90 Day Reporting Grace Period ?
zombie nights replied to NickyLouie's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes in person or on line the grace period arises. -
So all retirees here in Thailand who stay 180 days in 1 year now need to file tax returns?!? Please identity precisely the new law or practice which states this? No need to say retirees are tax residents we know that but up until now no obligation to file tax returns and nothing in the new rule say that is going to change for retirees.
-
Completely wrong! For decades those with retirement visas and subject to double taxation have not been required to pay tax here even though they stay here in Thailand more than 180 days per year.. The revenue dept has this as normal practice if not the law. Ask any retired person in Thailand. Or read all the links that confirm retiress are exempted or excused from tax here by general consensus of the revenue dept. The fact that some retirees on retirement visas choose to pay tax is through their own generosity to put it kindly .....

Many years ago i was summoned to my local tax office in Thailand and asked about my income. I was told as I come from a country with a double tax agreement i was not liable to pay tax here. They issued me with a card and a number on it. I still have the card and they never contacted me again. I presume when the new regulations come into force they cannot now claim I am liable to pay back taxes?

Yes thank you. I am currently looking to get a decent Thai lawyer to advise. Though the first one I contacted quoted me 8000 baht per hour to advise. Can I thank all those above who have given my helpful input. Incidentally I am the OP. One reason I need to consider ending my lease early is for health reasons. I now need to pay a 5 figure sum for medicine monthly (not covered by Insurance) and amongst other things I need to reduce my expenses including rent. I did not mention this in my original posting as my health issues are a private matter. ????

I am a couple of months into my one year written condo lease. For various reasons I may decide to terminate my lease under which I provided a months deposit. The lease says nothing about what occurs if I terminate my lease early though I assume I will forfeit my deposit which I accept. But as my lease has 10 months to run can my Landlord claim for the outstanding amount for the remainder of my lease? 10 months outstanding? Or is my sole liability just forfeit my deposit? Thanks any input.

Thank you DrJack54 for your helpful reply above. I will be at immigration tomorrow so hopefully I can sort my 90 day report then, but we shall see. Now please do not quote me on this but I had a pleasant chat with an officer from immigration. He in effect explained I was amongst many people waiting for my pending result. He also explained and confirmed I have 7 days from my report date before I need to go to immigration. Nonetheless for various reasons i will go in person tomorrow. I was told he has no access to 90 day report on line so could do nothing to assist on my app. What is interesting-and I hope I have understand what is being said correctly-and I have no way of knowing if this is correct so do not rely on anything I say- but it seems on line and in person may be separate entities so to speak. I asked about did I need to cancel my pending. He said no. Seems it may be can be given an in person receipt and later also an on line one. I may have completely misunderstood and I may be proved totally wrong tomorrow. But what I will do is do my in person report showing the receipt from on line from 3 months ago; get my 90 day paper and say and do nothing re cancelling my on line App. Worth a try...right?!

Can u explain for a non computer expert do it on the web not on the app? Thank u. I have waited almost 2 weeks for my approval or not and my info is marked "pending". I am going to CW tomorrow. Assuming it is finally approved how will that affect me on line? I assume I need to cancel the on line application? What will happen next time for my 90 day report? Can I do it on line or need I go in person? Many thx any input.

Submitted my 90 day report on line: 09 August and same date received: "Pending" etc., from CW immigration. Actual date to report: 23 August. Still awaiting. Assume I not hear by 23 August. Can I wait another 7 days( (to 30 August) before i need to actually go to immigration to do it in person without the risk of being fined? Or wait until the pending decision is made even if beyond 30 August? Appreciate any input.

well to be fair to me. Half a sleep...put coffee in cup added a bit of milk then put what i thought was cold water in the cup...took a taste...ugh! My own fault! Lol

The other day at the 7/11 check out I was offered to buy one and get one free, so I did. I thought it was water. I used it for my coffee. The taste was awful! Then I realized; it isn't 7 water its 7-up!!! Entirely my own fault and looking at the other side of the label in small print it does say 7 up in English. "let the buyer beware!" ????

Unless and until we get acceptable evidence all these UFO stories are fake and nonsense.
