The first red flag. I ALWAYS demand a copy of my payslip by email and by snail mail. Many times, there are mistakes in my payslip. I get them corrected. If they don't do this for you,  you have a dodgy employer. Sorry, but you had this coming to you.

Sorry @scoutman360 but foreigner working for government uni or high school never get a slip. I know it since almost 22 years ! But every years when doing my tax paper (when the secretary not forget it) it's printed on how i have paid to the SS system.

BTW @petedk : i "think" i remember reading that our first 18 month onto the system weren't included in the total. I can't be fully certain because i really don't remember where i saw this or who told me.

Does this also hold for teachers? I know some guys who had to stop teaching at 60.

Yes, for foreigners teacher. I had a friend at Silapakorn Uni who worked until 70 (or72?) But the head of the section told me the paperwork were  a "nightmare" because most of the civil servants for employment or ministry level don't know very well about it.

I hope it would become easier, working until 70 for lot of people is not impossible.

@xylophone : right you are...they can give any % they want.

For the blue ribbon, i was thinking they were serious enough about it  at it : it's there business to tax it right.

So I far as i can see, our friend @denim and his Spanish bottle might be lucky (even if i think the color is a little ligther), but i can't speak about spanish drink ant their quality. it's probably a 60 bahts bottle in Europe.

  4. Logically, no, because immigrations office are closed on weekend. Ask by phone to be sure. For safety i went directly to the police station when they started to be  stricter about it (It' written on the paper you can do it there in cas no immigration office or if they are closed). Had to be the main police station of the district and the policeman there  was more piss off than me because nothing was computerized so he had to write it down on his lob book. It was few years ago.

  5. I read it all, even if i am not a native. What kind of answer can i give to you.... Could you relocate in a better place ? (In the country, I mean) Except from your GF and your business..what do you like to do ? Do it and don't care about others. Invest on what it's interesting you ! make yourself happy ! Don't focus on what stupid/bad things others do... do what make you happy. There are a lot of very nice Thai people... it's only hard to find them...

However, I'm sure open to better advice.

You really need to talk with some policeman, captain or above, to understand the situation while you ll be carrying and unfortunately maybe using a side arm.

9 mm pistol are war/law enforcement weapons !

(It's great to shoot with them on a firing range, i  personally really enjoyed it for years).

But for self defense you may considering a revolver and maybe something on the .410 caliber. It's less lethal than other munitions but might do the job. Professionals should be consulted, for your safety and your sanity. Caring a weapons is always a huge responsibility.

Vaping, patches and chewing gum DO NOT prevent the addiction to nicotine, they all contain it. They are merely an alternative way to take it.

Vaping can bee nicotine free : it's about the eliquid your are using. Lot of flavor have a different level of it.  from 0 to the same quantity than a "normal" cig. It's why i think it's the best alternative for people who can't quit with other method.

    "The lesser of 2 (we)evils" ...

  8. Well, make it  a little "cheaper" than a bottle.... I guess most of these brand are looking for new formula, new  contenant in hope to take back some market share.

I think we have to wait  few month to see how situation will evolve.

Well , my Moobaan drinking water is okay and next family membre coming around from France will have some duty to "save" me with some Bergerac red. ?
