  1. Your frustration is not justified. If you do not like "sticking your head in", the simple solution

is , don't use taxis. Either walk or use a bus.

Taxis may be a public service, but they have every right to decide who to let into their cars

and where they want to go, as much as you can decide who to let any salesman into your

    house.

  2. I might be inclined to agree with the OP were it not for the fact that here, in Thailand, the locals, for the most part, have little in the way of a choice as to the level of education they receive.

This is not the case for most Western men who choose to live here.

Even if it was, could the boorish, loud-mothed behaviour of a large proportion of Westerners living in or visiting Thailand really be blamed on a lack of education and/or opportunities? I don't think so.

I think it more likely that, after a lifetime of being financially and socially unremarkable, these grunts finally have the means with which to enjoy both the relative financial superiority their coin gives them over the majority of the locals and the opportunities it creates with Thai women.

Going from zero to hero by virtue of taking a seat on a long haul flight can turn even a normally decent fellow into a complete and utter tool overnight.

Financial superiority maybe, but the locals here think they are superior to the bird-shit farangs !

An attitude here in the LOS will get you nowhere. You may even get shipped back to where

you came from in a body bag.

  3. What utter drivel. It's just like complaining that people in the UK don't respect the spirit and meaning of Christmas. Many complaining that Thais don't respect the spirit and meaning of Songkran don't themselves respect the spirit and meaning of festivals in their home countries. Times change, traditions change, Songkran changes. Get over it. Songkran is huge fun. Quit complaining, and join in. You might actually learn how to have some fun.

    Spot on !

  4. Trust me , these people only understand one rule. The moment you show a sign of kindness to them, they will take it as a sign of weakness and will try to screw you . Do it the Thai way. Treat them like slaves. Sadly it is the only language they understand.

I do hope your attitude will rub off on all the Thais you meet, and you get a taste of your own medicine.

  5. for all you who dont like the way thais drive, either learn to deal with it, or take a bus to suvarnabhumi, get on a plane and go back wherever you came from.... really tired of farong complaining about everything,,,, you dont have to live in this country, you are all here by choice,,, live with it or get the **** out,,,, but please just stop your old-man whining...

RIP to the norwegian man, and all the best to his gf for a speedy recovery

    I live here.

I spend 100% of all my money and salaries here.

I feed my family (wife) and her family.

I contribute with more funds to the society than 99% of the population does.

I have earned the damn right to complain about stuff here.

You have not earned any damn thing in Thailand no matter how much you "contribute" as long as

you are not a native Thai.

  6. Me thinks the main reason for Yinluck changing clothes one too many times in a day is that she has a

    body odour.

The scientific explanation is, in people under emotional stress the tubular walls of their apocrine glands

contract and the sweat is pushed to the surface of the skin where bacteria begin breaking it down,

and it is this bacterial breakdown of apocrine sweat that causes her to smell.

Hence the need for frequent change of clothes.

  7. As usual the mightier than thou, would be executioners posting here in the name of humanity (??sheeesh) take a simplistic view of a much more complex and harrowing issue. The death penalty is state sanctioned murder-there is absolutely no evidence to support the notion that the death penalty deters people from doing anything. It is merely vengeful and utterly unjustified.

I am not a supporter of drug smuggling, nor anything illegal, but I am concerned for the woman, her children, her family, her friends and the general mental health of those of you and the Indonesian legal system, who are openly baying for her blood.

Nothing, but nothing is so simple- except for the thoughts of some of the mob rule individuals in here promulgating their vile, spiteful, venemous misinformed judgements. Shame on you.

Aren't you concerned about the victims of crimes, their children, their families, their friends the foreign (and probably

in your mind sub-standard) legal system, which impose death penalties on criminals? Perhaps not ! All criminals

have families and friends and can present so-called "mitigating circumstances" under any circumstances.

Serves this woman right that she had received the death sentence. I sincerely hope that there will be no about turn

    on their decision.

The fact that she is foreign and is white is no justification for a lenient sentence.

The shame is really on you !
