  1. Thank you Zeichen,

I am waiting some one to ask me about my PDA.
My PDA is not PDA. It is CWA (Coconut Water Agar)
1.5 liters of coconut water and one 25 gram pack of agar, that's all, no dextrose adding or PH adjusting. PH of coconut water exactly is 5.5.

The 25 and 50 gram pack of Food grade Agar can be found at almost every grocery shop in Thailand. A 25 gram pack costs about 50 B.
We use agar for making desert, the jelly like sweet with coconut milk or "วุ้น".

If I clone a rare mushroom I also make at least 10 different samples. In this case, the wild Tricholoma Crassum cloning, nine samples get contamination.
The pictures shown above I cloned mushrooms from fresh tissue

One of the contaminated samples. Can you ID the contamination.
I heard that the germination of T. Crassum spores depend on some types of yeast.
I want to cultivate that yeast.

  2. Sorry off topic but I need a source of potassium that will be acceptable in organic cycles for my fertiliser. Any ideas?

Fertilizer formula 0-56-34 is monopotassium phosphase (MKP).

Cordyceps grower uses it to mix in grain substrate.

The local fertilizer supplier may help you to find it.

  3. Hi Dasboot, Potassium Hydroxide is used in Sa paper manufacturing processes.
There are many Sa paper manufacturers in Chaingrai.

The chemical supplier must be some where.

The best way visit a Sa paper maker that close to you.

I read your reports about farming and i like them very much i also learn a lot of you

But maybe you can post youre historical pictures here

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/forum/155-thailand-and-siam-history-photos/

I am sure they will appreciate very much by other members of Thaivisa

    Thank you sjefrie.

I have new place to post the historical pictures.

In this case I just follow our tradition to honor our ancestors who protected this land for us to do farming and ask them for help.

My target is to bring back the cloned mushroom to grow on the original ground in vicinity of Prasat Phanom Wan.

I vowed our ancestors help me to accomplish the mission.

I promise to offer them chicken, pork and Lao Khao.

  5. On 16 May 2013 I found a thread in pantip.com web board asking to I.D. a flush of wild giant mushroom in her mango orchard.

I posted to tell her that it was the Tricholoma Crsassum (Berg.), an edible mushroom.

I also asked her to collect a mushroom for cloning.

Her house is near Prasat Phanom Wan an ancient Hindu temple in suburb Nakhonratchasima Province or it’s nick name is Korat.

Korat was an importance frontier city in North-East Plateau from Ayuthaya period to the begining of Ratanakosin period.

I live in Saraburi Province the central part of Thailand but fortunately on the part of Saraburi that next to Korat border.

My place is near the old rout that Ayuthaya and Ratanakosin moved her Army to control the North-East Plateau area and all area along the left bank of Mekong river.

I drove along the old rout to Huay Bong - Dan Khun Tot Non Thai

    Prasat Phanom Wan.

Finally I got a mushroom back to my LAB for cloning.

Few days ago I was informed that three flushes of Hed Teen Rad (Rhino feet mushroom) were found in suburb of Korat.

Yesterday I rushed to get a specimen for cloning.

I took a small musroom (in second picture) between the larger two mushrooms (in first picture).

I will update the progress of growing this strain.

  8. @rice555,

I am not a member of MST directly.
In 1973, while Dr. Anon Auetragul (http://anonbiotec.gratis-foros.com/t491-topic) was a fourth year under-graduate student in Kasetsart Universcity he and his friends founded the Mushroom Club, then in 1977 became MST. Dr.Anon was voted to be the president of MST for many times.

I got training from Dr. Anon in 1974 when I was Sergeant (E5) and once again in 2008 when I reired from Army as a Colonel.
Now Dr.Anon still arrange the training in Thai version every the other month and in English every four months.

    @MrOdyssey,

I have a 4-room guest house and a LAB with necessary equipment for doing mushroom cultivation from cloning mushroom to preparing the substrate bags, no tutor fee, only 700 B. a night for the Air-con room and 500 B. for fan room.
The guests can clone the mushroom, prepare grain spawn, make substrate bags, pasteurize, inoculate and bring back home the ready inoculated substrate bags as much as they need with reasonable price.

  9. Ray, the ready mixed substrate need this type of mixer, powered by two hands.

    47310207.png

A 200-liter drum with lid and clamp (500 baths) can pasteurize 85 bags.
The second drum with holes on bottom can be stacked on the top of the first one.

I have an industrial type autoclave. But my wife's never allowed me to use it because she have to pay for LPG.

  10. Last month, Mr.Tom invited me to see him while making Hed Khon Khao substrate Bags.

    dsc0151rc.jpg

He hired an 80 years old grandmother to work for him 200 baths a day.

    dsc0152ng.jpg

His pasteurization chamber is working to pasteurise 700 substrate bags/tank at once.

    dsc0153aa.jpg

Wait the pasteurized substrate bag to cool down then inoculate with grain spawn.

Fruiting body of Hed Khon Khao.

Hed Khon Khao is a sadism mushroom.

    There is a legend.

Once a mushroom grower could not be patient to wait for the fruiting to come out.

He got angry and slapped the mushroom substrate with his slipper.

Few days latter the fruiting body started to come out.
