Military governance and strong fair economic policies do not mix
-
I cannot understand the surprise expressed here. This is LOS!!!! Leave it to interpretation
-
When the rest of the world stops laughing; then maybe this country will be taken serious.
-
Again lack of policing and care from law and enforcement officers. You see motorbikes going against the traffic on 2nd road every few mins. You will also see policeman standing on the sidewalk doing nothing
-
Unbelievable!! "Everything is a misunderstanding. The gun was not his. Thus, end of story LOS"
-
Thailand's version of Cindarella..... "mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the smartest of them all"
-
... and the sky is falling
This is soooo predictable. Every time there's talk about alcohol restrictions in Thailand, the usual suspects will come up with statements about why this will mean the death of tourism as we know it in Thailand. Guess what. Most tourists don't care, and they are still coming by the millions. Tens of millions actually.
Tens of millions actually. Please show me where you dreamt that figure. Apart from Chinese busloads who spend very little; it is falling considerably. Maybe you need to speak with Thai and farang business owners in all the tourist areas.
-
Talk about losing face. Trying to cover up a new law that was instigated before anyone thought of the consequences. LOS... The world is laughing again
-
If they don't want alcohol being sold near schools and unis then fair enough but if you are going to make this law then u need give businesses fair warning and where possible time to relocate etc.
It's unreasonable and unfair to suddenly declare a law of this kind on a Thursday and then start arresting people for breaking the law just a day later.
Why not give a 3 or 6 month grace period for business owners to make the necessary changes in order to comply with the law then get tough on people for anyone in breach of the new requirements thereafter?
Very good question and answer. However, please remember it takes intelligence to come up with that thought / plan.
-
This means the famous restaurants on the 88th floor of Bayoke Tower cannot serve alcohol. There is a school just behind it. Then again maybe 88 level is more than 300 meters.
-
You have to wonder how accurate the Coconuts report is, if as per the report it will affect every outlet that sells alcohol. As previously stated, not simply bars, BUT, all sales outlets (supermarkets, convenience stores, corner stores, etc). What the articles doesn't clarify if it's a 24/07 ban or specific times?
This was all reported on front page of Bangkok Post today. Yes according to the new law all of Walking st, apart from clubs up near Bali Hai, Soi 13/3, 13/4 and bars along Pattaya Tai, Soi 15 and Soi 14 will have to close in Pattaya. Either someone is going to lose Face in a huge way or this is the start of a long term plan to totally take over and remove any interference from the rest of the World. Thailand "a closed shop"

Only in Thailand... I read this a bit earlier in the English Lang. Newspaper..... Another example of local ability not to see or not to ask questions...... just print. The article reported that the boat ran aground about 8PM and beach goers ran in all directions..... The article stated that when the police showed up , some 3 hours later, the engine was still running and all passengers were all still aboard. .....3 hours later police arrive, passengers still aboard...... engine still running .. No questions asked.... no answer forthcoming.....
I would say this is a direct result of training in Thai schools against asking questions
Quote: Only in Thailand
Quite easy to find examples of this all over the world.....and probably in your own country as well? Not a fan of Thailand I take it.....
Sir; If so easy please find and show a drunk captain steering his boat at full power onto a beach occupied by tourists all over the world. Then leaves the motor running while he wanders around the boat. Support your statement please!!!

Sir I am Australian. I have done my retirement visa 6 times in Pattaya. Contact me direct and l will tell you exactly what needs to be done. In fact l am re doing mine in 3 weeks.
-
You can apply for a Non Imm Visa if it is part of an application for a 12 month extension of stay for retirement.
Apply in Bangkok.
You need 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank.
Or 65,000 Baht monthly income.
Or a combination of both.
You can then apply for the 12 month extension.
EDIT:
You might be able to do it in Pattaya but they will pass your application onto Bangkok.
It is processed in Jomtien (Pattaya)

This guy is an absolute moron and is the Police Chief. If the PM is serious about decreasing Thailand's horrendous road toll, this general will be called in and severely reprimanded and forced to go through attitude adjustment. He has shown he is an arrogant, egotistical little man who thinks he is above the law, he is in control of. LOS....no wonder the world simply laughs out loud.
-
What a self engrossed egotistical arrogant <deleted>. "I am the police chief so l don't need to obey the laws"!! Another addition to the LOS book of jokes.
-
Another joke in LOS. What a bunch of hypocrits. So its okay for him to also drive drunk l presume. He is the police chief. So he can do what he likes!!. What a egotistical arrogant <deleted>!!!

The comical farce and corruption continues in this wonderful country
-
Such inconsistencies in this country. Absolute joke. No wonder the rest of the world does not stop laughing at this country. He is guilty and should serve time. But the length of time should be consistent with what the many Thai drug dealers have been sentenced for.

Another post on criticising Thai politics/human rights/economics by outsiders . This time from the EU & UN for a change. Why does the EU stick to solving their own problems.
Prayut is right and should not listen to others meddling in Thai affairs . Like Nuland said f the EU.
Maybe because the country would be decimated if there were no farangs here. Think how many families would be starving. Thailand would be just like some of the African countries where people are starving to death everyday. The tourism $ and international business keeps this country afloat.

Really funny, especially after the police investigate the impropriety, then head off for a night of fun at the local karaoke bar, with a trip the a 'curtain motel' prior to returning home to the misses. A fraction of the sex trade in Thailand is foreigners.
Terrific comment that could not truer. Talk about a bunch of hypocrits. Plus the reporting is a disgrace. Firstly 'photo of a woman appearing to perform oral sex in the venue circulated on social media. Appearing. Where is the proof. In addition the were immediately removed. So why is the club closed. Unbelievable Thailand!!!!
-
Simply check the attending policeman's spending power since. He should be dragged in immediately for failing to do his job properly and preventing any chance of real justice by failing to take a breath test. One does not have to be very smart to see that corruption has taken place here. Lets see if the Police Colonel is for real
-
Not even any evidence that their is any act actually happening. Could simply be simulation. What a lot of hypocritical bunch of twits. With all the back street Karaoke bars in every small town and city

Headline; Facebook uproar against Pattaya bar girl. In other reports it is stated they do not know whether the the girl is even Thai
