The possibility of printing pictures on every individual cigarette should also be looked into.

With respect , I would say that what you really need is not a temporary fix but a long term strategy. A quick fix might help you for 6 months but in the end what you really need is cash and long term stability. In order to get these things you are going to have to do what a lot of westerners married to Thai women have to do. This could mean returning to Europe , finding regular tax paying employment and some kind of accommodation. In the meantime your husband should try to stay in Thailand as legally as possible and look after himself while you save your money. At least if he is in Thailand you can call each other face to face using Skype.
After a year or two , if you have saved enough and have a regular home and steady employment you can then have your husband try to join you with you acting as sponser.
If you both continue trying to improve your situation whilst staying together in Thailand you are only delaying more problems that will continue to come your way.
Makes sense.
Plan B: Being a young western woman who even has some working experience in Thailand, you might be able to find hotel work in Phuket/Khao Lak/Krabi, most likely as a "guest relations officer", in other words reception work. Make a resume and present yourself at the big hotels, starting with the ones belonging to international chains. Two young German women I know found work that way, salary about 30.000 Baht/month.
Your husband should try to get a work permit for Phuket/Phangnga/Krabi or whatever other Thai province you might find a job.
Assuming your story is genuine (be prepared for people to question this, if they allow this thread to run), I wish you good luck.
Kees.

Man, that's very sad and sounds like it's still getting worse.
Package tourists, eh? Must be full of Chinese then?
I will try to bring it up again after the Songkhran finished, if it's still full, I'll look elsewhere, maybe will make another trip to Lipe then?
I was told the Chinese have discovered Lipe already .

Don' forget 1997.....
Exactly, the Tom Yam Crisis. Banks had too many bad loans, because people borrowed money for construction projects, and later defaulted on the loans because they couldn't find buyers/tenants.

On top of the page, there is always a line of text running like " Thailand Forum → General→Support Desk". It gives 3 clickable links. After I have posted, I like to click on there to get back to like in this case Support Desk, because using the go back arrow on the browser it takes several clicks to get back there.
But since recently, this line of text is often fully covered by an ad and thus invisible/unusable.

It's an insult to intelligence and common decency to continually find new ways to scam people. It's just yet another way to show total disrespect and disdain for foreigners.
Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
Thailand is nothing but hassle these days, that's why 3 weeks R&R on a beach is all Thailand is good for (for me anyway).
The OP stated: I was thinking this was just a rouge driver, but two hours later my Thai girlfriend had the same thing happen to her, so it isn't targeting just foreigners.
Thai people are often hit with transport scams, like taxi drivers bringing them to a travel agency when they have requested to be taken to the bus station.

Inside job I bet, who knew they had 400k in the shop...
Yes. Impossible that a massage parlour, even a big and expensive soapy with movie star look a likes makes this type of money in one day.

Again 7/11 reinforces its position as the central point around which expat life revolves.

As in any Thai hospital.

The nicest botched English gem I ever ran into might have been: "On the suspicious occasion of the opening of our new factory" (auspicious was meant).

Reminds me of a situation a long time ago when I lived in Hua Hin. I had to move my bar to the building next door, so also a very big and heavy counter had to be moved. So I walked to the motorsai queue at the end of the soi, agreed on a price with the lads, and within a minute or two the thing was off the ground.
Cannot believe someone goes online to solve this type of problem.

Good trick to find a repair man is to consult a local motorcycle taxi driver, they always know lots of people.
A broken down blender or toaster or whatever cheap electrical equipment will stop working again though soon after the repair, being just worn out, so maybe better buy a new one. My personal rule is not to repair stuff like that, and more expensive equipment like washing machines I have repaired only once.

233 more scammers, con men, rapists, murderer's etc back on the streets of Phuket. How wonderful !
Please don't forget there are a lot of people in jail who got busted for things like possession of just a few speed pills, that's why the prisons are so overpopulated.

Name of the band, "Paradox" is quite suitable for an alcohol free party.

Not mentioned yet is the usufruct construction, it gives you the right to use a property for your natural life time, after that the full rights return to the owner or his heirs. Usufruct can be on a foreigners name.

Back to the original topic, which is the 30+30+30 leases. Has always been clear they wouldn't hold up in court beyond the original 30 years, leases longer than 30 years contravene the law, and a binding 30+30+30 lease would be the same as a 90 years lease.
Same applies for the 3+3 or 3+3+3 leases you often see in ads selling guesthouses/bars/restaurants. A lease longer than 3 years has to be registered with the Land Department, and has to be written on the land paper. So similarly, these plus leases are not valid as far as the extensions are concerned, I saw these extension clauses die in court.
Also, unless agreed otherwise, the Thai text of the contract is binding, and often it will state : If the owner and the tenant can agree, the contract will be extended. It is irrelevant what the translation into another language (usually English) will say.

Reading this forum I am often overwhelmed by the negativity of these people, and the they're all out to get you sort of attitude. Often leaves me wondering: what the <deleted> they are doing here. Or am I still wearing rose colored glasses after 24 years in Thailand?

I don't think in the West jumping from high rises is such a common suicide method. Why does it happen so often here, maybe copycat behavior caused by publicity about these cases?

Making a deep well they keep drilling till they hit a layer of rock. Mine is 19 meters, my neighbors were luckier, got to 26 meters.

Could it be the very small (a few millimeters) almost transparent jellyfish? They cause a lot of itching that disappears after having been out of the water for 5 minutes or so. Person with good vision can see them with bare eyes.

Alas, it is all too normal that Thai people buy a job, for instance as a government official.

OP, how deep is your well? Is it a simple concrete rings well or a PVC pipe deep well?
Solution suggested by Hansgruber is interesting, and besides that you could deepen the well, or make a new well which is deeper.

Quoting the OP: "I've had a BIG problem with a section of my roof since it was built 10 years ago. It appears to be the only section facing in just one particular direction. The other five sections are not problematical. "
Cannot make head or tail of it, or is it that I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed?
Pic?

Tasks carried out by a notary public in the West are carried out by just lawyers in Thailand.
By the way this makes a nice side line for lawyers, the customer pays a lot just for the stamp+signature.
Example: I once translated a document from Thai into German myself, and then went to a lawyer who spent 10 seconds signing and stamping it , and that made it into a certified translation fit for consumption by German bureaucracy.
