Three things will save Thai economy & Thai social cohesion: vaccinate the elderly, vaccinate the middle aged and vaccinate the teenagers . And do it quick then tourists will flock back with cash to spend.

Yes , over the yrs I have heard & read the pound/dollar rate is quite important in deciding pound/baht rate. But this view of course minimises the state of Thailand as with Covid figures & worryingly very low vaccine rates but I guess Thailand has currency reserves etc

Interestingly the pound dropped somewhat yesterday on Covid worries as there's a growing view expressed in FT about Isreal ( most ahead on vaccs but new rising cases) & today in FT on growing UK deaths,vaccine fading for most elderly since Jan/Feb etc and new term only weeks away as weather cools. All this is compouded by Brexit concerns on serious labour shortages, declining exports to EU & supply chain problems. In the end be it UK or US or Thailand its Covid figures which will determine currency rates as more cases means more stunted business growth.

Unsure of your link with Fed's decisions or indications of future moves . Is it if dollar goes down developing economies like Thailand tend to benefit?

Does anyone know why the THai Baht has revived itself compared to UK pound? In two weeks the pound has dropped to 44 something from 46 something?

If this is true it is very good news as its what developed countries like USA , Germany, Scandi, Isreal & UK have been doing for 8 months ( since January). Its the only solution to save lives, restore economy & business and so vital for Thailand bring back those cash in hand Tourists eager to get the sun, sights & enjoy Thailand again ( let alone all those folk eager to see their friends & partners). It takes time - only yesterday did 16 & 17 yrs start queing up in many UK towns for their Pfizer jab. Teenagers & Twenty somethings know they are the most social beings - from pubs/nightclubs to schools/universities. Only the vaccine for all brings this plague down, saves lives & restores business for all from the street seller to the biggest company. Get on with it Thailand.

By the way as mentioned in weekend FT what do socialising Isrealis now do in the bars? Raise their drinks in the air to Pfizer!

Yes Covid will be here a long time BUT the vaccine programmes in Europe & US/Canada are definately working and the issues in Israel or UK are very minor compared to Thailand. 1. Get your population vaccinated with AZ or Pfizer or Moderna which gives circa 95% protection and more against hospitals & death from Covid19. 2. Then long term do what US/UK/Isreal are beginning to do give booster jab to the over 70s By the way why do more older people die from this plague because their immunity capacity declines with age. Latest Harvard/Oxford thinking is about 9 months before need for booster. These are developed countries problems not Thailand's. For Thailand they must quickly vaccinate as many people as possible otherwise things cannot resume as normal.

There is only one way Thailand will recover and join the modern world and bring back millions and millions of tourists, business and trade- vacinate, vacinate, and vacinate. Otherwise from Australia/NZ to China, Malasia to Europe including Germany, Holland, Sweden. Denmark, United Kingdom to America/Canada they will not be able to restart tourism as said governments will discourage visits as rates of infections and deaths in tourist Thailand will remain far too high.
