  1. And you thought Thaksin's bunch were corrupt!

Part of the culture, unlikely to change. As soon as those in high places start coming under scrutiny because of their association with "the money" then it will stumble to a halt. Too many of those pointing the finger will be involved in their own deals, and you can bet their "opposition" will have their own fingers to point.

But maybe. just maybe, something positive will happen. But I doubt it.

You sure Thaksin and his bunch are not involved? Maybe even the mother of (this) corruption?

  2. I didn't know the General was also a stand up comedian.

Watch what happens to the crooks ... they'll all walk without penalty or at worst be given a couple of years inside only to come out and enjoy the fruits of their corrupt activities.

Talking of crime ... isn't a coup an act of treason?

No a coup against a criminal and harmful government is a good deed not an act of treason

Remember the coup against French royalty in 1789?

    or the Boston tea party?

  3. How many of those arrested in the new police corruption scandal are not friendly with the former Taksin government? This is looking more like a political purge than real reform.

So you think the former Thaksin government was a good one, working on democratical rules and being not corrupt, helping the people in the first line, not themselves only?.

If so you were right, it would look like a purging

if not it is a real purging which means going for the bad guys (corrupt, thiefs, cronies, you name it)

    Did I miss something?

I have never heard the defense asking to check the sperm that was found inside Hannah Witheridge.

It is a fact, right??? There is sperm .... so why did I not hear the two Burmese men say: "Hey, that can not be our sperm, check it!"

I suppose that the Thai police did not jerk the men off..... Or found some sperm in a towell in the room of the 2 Burmese men.

Is the British police in possession of this sperm

They do not need sperm. The DNA in the sperm is the same as in every part (cell) of the body

    Sure, but my point is:

if I were one of the Burmese men (and assuming I am innocent), I would order my lawyer to have the sperm checked so it can be proved that it is sperm and it can be proved it is not my sperm !

ah - you mean the sperm allegedly found in Hannah

  5. i havent read ANYTHING yet about the English bobbies "research"

Were they here on a Holiday or what ??? coffee1.gif

We keep our powder dry and waste no time with finger pointing pics.......Sit back and wait....smile.png

Good point mate... no need to behave like a local fool with all that finger pointing (especially at farang)

What i really wonder.... has Scotland Yard really been here ?? has anyone seen pics of them arriving in BKK or Koh Tao and doing their JOB ? blink.png

you should check this forum. There have been fotoes of them on the murder island

  7. There is a frustrating desire by some posters to give this story a "political" slant, I personally see it as something much more simple.

After years of corrupt indifference we now see some real action, some serious investigation with some real results. Yes it is one case but it most definitely is a start, maybe now the cynical nay sayers can take a back seat and wait to see what else transpires.

This present government may not be perfect but would any one of you prefer to go back to what we had?

I'll take my chances with this present government, on the face of it an excellent result, lets wait and see where it goes from here!

Disagree. The present government is a wolf in sheeps clothing. It could be worse than ever imagined. And no, I don't like the Shin clan..... but utter irresponsible people are making decisions they have no experience of and contributing to the financial losses this country can no longer endure..... and for personal gain, I SHALL add.

utter irresponsible people are making decisions they have no experience of and contributing to the financial losses this country can no longer endure

Do you think the previous government was better?

  8. Hope they use part of that money to compensate the innocent Burmese boys in Koh Tao!

The two men arrested for the murders there have not even been appeared in court yet, so unless you have access to the ThaiVisa crystal ball you don't know whether they are innocent of those crimes or not.

OK. Wait until either their innocence is proven - or the proof of their guilt fails.

  9. Hats of the the powers that be on this one.

Lets hope this case is pursued properly and appropriate custodial sentences dished out.

Its a tiny tip of a huge iceberg, but its a start.

I expect these guys have stepped on the wrong toes, or pinned their flags on the wrong ship.

Hopefully its a sign of things to come, not just a purge of a few wrongly aligned ones.

It's a purge of those that have the wrong political affiliations, friends or paymasters, nothing more, nothing less and it won't go any deeper than that.

If this is true it would be a good and necessary action, considering there is only one very influential paymaster who caused a lot of havoc to this country and made the military coup necessary in the end.

  10. Well well well - i guess most of us was wrong, looks like there are going to be some cleanup after all, good!

It will set a good example down the ranks. About time some of the big boys got named....

Let's hope the boys in green have the courage to clean up a bit in their own camp, as well rolleyes.gif

Yes, but is it a coincidence that (unless I'm mistaken) so far ALL of these transfers arrests etc are for pro-Thaksin/PTP supporters/lackeys?

If so that would explain some of their wealth as well as their knowledge how to aquire great wealth as a policeman with a mediocre income

Hopefully they are not SIBs (Scapegoats in Brown)

  11. Well now we know why no specific reason was given for the man's dismissal. The soldiers couldn't exactly say "he had the wrong political allegiance" could they? That would be to implicate the truth, which is that the army's forced acquisition of power was purely politically motivated.

"... but some police sources have said that some of the officers transferred had been aligned with “certain political camps”. wai2.gifwai.gif

some police sources have said ...

a reliable source of information. not?

  12. The other day an ex-MP was released having been found guilty of murder of a rival and after having been given the death sentence. OF course he is a rich man able to put up, for him, a relatively small amount of cash to secure his release (1.35 million baht). If they can release a man on death row, why cannot they release these two who have been framed?

because they have been framed, probably
