Government filtering ..censorship slows down many international sites or blocks them such as articles from the UK daily mail ..as they upset some people ..

When they arrive they are sober ..They will have seen youtube ..media coverage so if you want to park you brain on the way in ..go for it and see if you come out the other end. NO worse that some European 18-30 resorts ..

Coming here for the past 4 years but was also here in the mid 80s early 2000 etc.

Couple of observations ..

Thailand looks tired and trashed ..Pattaya was fun place now taken over by Russian who think they can turn it into a Magalof ..

Patong no better ..

- Thais have made no effort to learn or willing to speak English

- Political unrest

- endless police 'stories'

- Endless scams (jetskies etc)

- 'we good Thai people' ..We don't kill anybody

- Yes getting expensive ..massage was 250 ..then 300, 350 now majority 400 and most of them have had no training ..

- Now some bars and some 'American' style restaurants are doing the Malaysian trick of what you see is not what you pay ..The old ++ trick ..had it here in BKK last night ..SC 10% plus 7% tax ..

Let's hope the British Embassy keeps a eye on this forum and gauge the expectation of the people commenting here and that view is passed back to the Home Office and not get lost in the ever increasing challenge of dealing with immigration issue and a looming General Election.

Even if the British identify they have the wrong guys or see serious flaws in the prosecution case will they go public ?? .. Or just hand over a view to the Thai Authorities for them to dismiss it??

Playing politics and not being seen to challenge another countries justice system may prevent us seeing anything constructive coming out (in public domain) from the UK ..

No doubt the embassy will provide all the translation / translator requirements so language is not an issue ..

With the language differences it will be tough for the Britcops to get to the truth....unless of course the Britcops picked to come speak and read Thai!

Knowing the risks of framing / tampering in Thai, the British embassy supported by UK police should have secured DNA samples and early findings within 24/48 hours ..haven't they learn anything from the McCann case in Portugal ..

From a UK perspective .. why waste the best part 2 days travelling, pay £650/700 for a flight when so much is still available in Europe .. at a fraction of the price as Thailand is no longer a cheap place to visit. The weather is also getting less predictable.

And the smiles is well gone out of LOS ..

This is nothing other than abuse and total lack of respect of the visa system and the country.

LOS is failing to have a complete policy on visas and offenders.
