  1. You may well be right, but I wasn't referring to individuals. I stand by my comment that "the other side" is no less corrupt and is not on the side of the ordinary people.

If that is the case then why are the ones you say are just as corrupt in there fighting against a bill which would forgive any corruption ?

They (democrats) are fighting it to wrest the political power from the shins, so that they and their family members and the rest of the elite can live their life in luxury and make sure that all resources are redirected to Bangkok, and only crumbs given to the poor up north. Thailand desperately needs a change, and that is to break free from the corrupt claws of the elite, who are best represented by the democrats.

  2. Acknowledging the problem is the only way to start correcting the problem. However, is Thailand the best place to stay if battling an alcohol problem. Seriously, it may be better to stay in Muslim countries like Indonesia or Malaysia. Yes there are bars and alcohol there too, but it is less of an alcohol culture there and less available.

  3. Please forward this news report to the respective newspapers in your home country. Let the while world know tht thai criminals can violently attack tourists with IMPUNITY. Let people around the work know that as a foreigner in Thailand, there will be no justice or protection. When people learn the truth about Thailand TOTAL disrespect for foreign nationals, they will think twice about visiting.

  4. Please, please, please not again !

How are you supposed to travel in this country?? Bus?To dangerous! Minivan?Deadtraps with speeding drivers! Train? Derailments a daily occurrance! Fly? And slide of the runway! Drive private car? With the road full of drunk/drugged drivers!

Only way to survive, seems to be, stay home!

Hope those who died in this tragedy didn't suffer.

Stay in Bkk and take BTS and MRT. It's the best

  5. How many died? have not seen any reports.

All the reports so far say there have been none found. But obviously still early as they mentioned only 40% is accessible. Just hope for the best.

I know the reports have come up with nothing yet but I find it hard to believe that with all the people that died in the Tiger Disco fire that no one died here... I smell a cover up coming.

In local social meda, they say its a massive coverup not to scare visitors just before the tourist high season. I guess when it comes to rumors in Thailand, there is no smoke without a fire (pun intended)

  6. Thailand has to choices. 1.Give the provinces to Malaysia who is partially to blame for the "insurgency"

    2. No holds barred from the military WITH help from USA and Israel

The current way is useless. These guys don't want autonomy in Thailand. They want out. If Thailand want to keep them, it must be done by force, a force of might and skill, not the pathetic security operation up to today

  7. Karma is a biatch

Vote PTP and you get to live under water

Vote for the Democrats and be happy, save from all harm and been taken care of at all times!

    Reality is a bitch, too!

Yes, everything was perfect under the Democrats. No corruption, Thai education rated number 1 in Asia, everything peaceful in the south........or maybe same same

  8. It is a good speech and move on her part. Thailand needs to confront its anti democratic forces and she is taking the fight overseas, creating awerness and gathering support. Smart move. She has the support of the thai people (minus the Bangkok elite and farangs posting here) from past elections, and that is her strongest card. Too bad she is under the influence of her brother, because otherwise she had the potential of being the prime minister Thailand desperately needs.

Have you ever considered a career in standup?

    You should.

Hahaha! Epic substance coming from you. A progressive and developed Thailand would not have as much cheap booze and whores, so I understand your worries.

  10. The American embassy has to follow up this case. Otherwise there will be no justice. Thailand is on a dangerous path when it comes to their tourist industry. Tourists and expats are not safe anymore. It's the third American murdered in Thailand in 3 weeks, and I bet none of the murderers will get the death sentence or life in prison.

If we are talking about Bangkok, the Black Swan is hands down the most-pub like in both food and atmosphere.

the fish and chips are MASSIVE as ar most portions. I have never had a bad meal there.

Does this place have any real ales?

    Define "real"

Real ale is unfiltered and unpasturised. It is also known as cask ale, as it always remains in a cask. If you see the waitress having to 'pull at the tap' multiple times while pouring your pint (excuse the innuendo), rather than just pulling it down once and leaving it there, then it's a real ale!

I can just imagine drinking a pint of cask-conditioned, unfiltered, unpasteurised British beer after its sea journey from that many-sceptred isle. Maybe not the whole pint. But I can't imagine being able to keep it down. Not from my limited knowledge of microbiology.

Pasteurised, kegged ale was what made the Scottish brewers (later to become Scottish Brewers Limited) great - at one time in the late 19th century every beer drunk by a British soldier serving abroad was brewed in Scotland. Struggling for capacity, Messrs Younger and McEwan said "We could brew this pish anywhere" and the McEwans yellow-label 80/- "Scotch Bitter" was born under Scottish and Newcastle Breweries - and Younger & McEwan discovered that the initial premise had been entirely wrong, and no matter how bad a beer Tartan Special might be considered, you could always get worse.

India Pale Ale in a can, "McEwans Export" was their apology to the serving soldier, an attempt to deliver a consistent product, from wherever it was brewed, to wherever it was drunk, whether behind the bike sheds in Dalry or the bleakest North-West Frontier outpost in Tuen Mun.

    * The above could well be true, in parts, but no worse a story for that

The taste is divine and British beers use the best hops and malts.
