  1. Sad thing is that we are NOT allowed riding them! Yes bikes can go through traffic a lot easier than cars, but have you ever ridden from one end of Bangkok to the other? At the end you are finished and not able to ride any further, at least i am :)

I have ridden 'from one end of Bangkok to the other' numerous times. Usually for service work on the bike or returninf from a long trip and yes, it's not a pleasant experience. But may I suggest that if a ride like that 'finishes' you, you're not very bike fit.

Riding regularly, especially on a big bike, builds up muscles you need to handle the ride as well as stamina.

I live far south Bangkok, bordering Samut Prakan and have often ridden across Bangkok after returning from lengthy rides up country.

A ride back from say Buriram, past Saraburi, Rangsit etc. of around 4 hours and then having to face a journey through the length of Bangkok to get home does tire you.

    But nowhere near 'finished'

  2. It appears the DOJ report on Ferguson is actually a complete fraud.

" Sorry: The Justice report doesn’t prove disparate treatment, let alone discrimination."

Tell that bullshit to him, you might wake up, in a hospital. In fact, try saying it to my face.

Oh oh! Internet Tough Guy Alert!

Enough with the threats already. Embarrassing!

  3. Obviously should change, it makes no sense for a 200 hp motorbike to have to use the left hand lane while a 30 year old rusty pickup that would probably fall apart if it exceeded 80kph can drive wherever it wants.

However, it's quite a nice little earner for the "police" in Bangkok so I'd imagine it will stay.

Does anyone on large cc-high hp bikes ever stop for the police?
  4. Bang na - Trat..... not so much.

Fortunately bangna-trat has improved greatly since the resurfacing work is almost finished.

But really, any highway that takes you out of Bangkok is pretty horrible. Be it Bangna-Trat, Rama II, Viphawadee-Rangsit, Boromrachachanon etc.

I guess real riding is kind of a freedom, spiritual thing for some of us.

Really, enough of this 'real riding, spiritual, freedom' stuff.

As I said, you're not they only rider who's ridden these roads so do try to be less annoying.

I can understand why you ride alone.

But in the event of an unforseen circumstance near the Burmese border, who do you turn to for help?

In those remote areas, it's common sense to have a riding buddy. If just for safety's sake.

  5. And the police do not even bother to find the perpetrators.

In the vicinity are to be certainly some CCTV cameras.

The police are to lazy to go out and check this.

    Disgraceful.

I take it you haven't been in Thailand long?

People need to stop looking at the RTP as a police force as we know it to be in the west.

    They're an organised crime unit.

Real hero stuff there, get the gang together go out and look for someone in a wheelchair to beat up.

  6. I found these quotes from Jock's link particularly telling.

"All nine of those found guilty of crimes in the area of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, had conspicuously Asian names."

" Of these, 49% were white and 46% Asian: the proportion of Pakistani Asians remains unknown. However, in a country where Asians constitute 7% of the general population, this is a striking figure."

"Of the 52 suspects charged, 83% were Asian Pakistani, 11% Asian other and 6% white British. These are shocking statistics and the over-representation of Asian offenders within this dataset certainly merits attention."

  7. Real riding isn't always about pushing hard.

May I recommend regular track time with tuition, for that. Much better in every way.

    Who said 'always'?

But it can be fun occasionally.

And Gweilo does do track days.

(Waiting for) no shows would do my head in. In fact, having to think of others when on a ride kind of does my head in. Me and my bike and the road and total freedom. That's it.

    Yes. Yes! We know!

Okay we get it. You're a loner with no mates. That's alright.

Maybe you can start your own thread on riding solo instead of spouting the same 'freedom' <deleted> repeatedly on this one?

  8. Hi.

A request for any residents of Buriram town.

A few of us are riding up to Buriram for the WSBK at Chang Circuit from the 20-22 nd March.

We booked rooms a while back but we have had a few late joiners who can't find accommodation as all online hotel rooms are fully booked.

Does anyone know of any hotels which may have rooms over this period, the ones who don't usually advertise online?

    Many thanks.
