Its now reported that the 2 drivers who came forward to confess to the beating are not the right guys and that they and 2 others have been arrested and charged. Who does this benefit, and so why did the wrong guys confess if they are clearly facing jail time?
Cherng Talay Police have confirmed the arrests of two taxi drivers wanted for the assault on a Grab driver in Bang Tao on Dec 2.

Sounds right. Just get one from either place.

For someone who once lived there, you seem remarkably ill informed about the current situation.. Please elaborate the circumstances you 'imagine' which could lead to the return of the status quo as we once knew it.

Will UK rule of the Colony return to Hong Kong?
You clearly lack a grasp on local events there in the last 3 years..

couldn't she say she was carrying both her own passport and someone else's, and mistakenly presented the wrong one?

Just want to point out that for the self insurance part, the money ($100,000) doesn't have to be in Thailand. Also, if you have pension income of $80,000+ (?), then you don't need to have/keep any money in Thailand at all, for the LTR visa.

We only visited Phuket for part of a day back in mid-2002, I think it was. We came down from Khao Lak in Phang Nga, a couple years before the Tsunami. Not going back again ...
Thanks for your considerable and elaborate insight.

I am the OP. Was checked (and baggage) in all the way to Amsterdam at Phuket International Bangkok Airways desk. Given a CIQ sticker and told to go through immigration. However KLM flight was cancelled and had to spend 28 hours in BKK airport for replacement flight. Not allowed to leave airport as CIQ. Baggage did not arrive at my destination . Still waiting for it. Fxxing nightmare.

I am flying out to bkk on Bangkok airways then onward to Amsterdam (klm) same day.
do I check in at international or domestic terminal in Phuket?I have no idea if my bag will be checked through to Amsterdam

Wait. I also got the piddly little 5 year permission to stay stamp in my passport at Phuket immigration coming from uk.
so I have a 10 year visa and 5 years permission to stay why do I need a multi entry permit? Is there the remotest possibility that I would be denied entry coming in and out with these documents?
-
Why is it a bad investment? I have over $100,000 in a time deposit paying about 5% a year. That is what I showed boi to get my approval.
I don’t have to show anything again for 5 years.- 1

Did you have to pay extra for the family member visa or was this all included in the 50 000 THB LTR fee for you (or respectively your marked up version of this if getting the visa outside Thailand which I think you did)?
The charge is per person. I paid £1500 each for me and my wife. Just as well no other dependents because for a family of 4 say, it’s expensive

Good to hear. Can't believe I've done nearly 2 years of LTR visa already. Thanks for the clarification.
