Not all tourists have Thai baht before they land, still, a nice earner for Immigration Officers.
He is 18 and never came through like that before. He changed HK Dollars to Baht, as someone in the Q told him the procedure, at a booth just beside the small queue. Can be done by anyone if they know about it.

Currently stuck in the queue - been here almost an hour and about half way through the zigzag lanes. I have seen about 5 immigration booths in operation by I cannot confirm - hard to see across the sea of heads.
I was there last night at that time waiting for my son arriving from HK. He texted me at 11.40pm to say 400+ people in front of him in the snaky line, and what the flippin heck?. I told him to look for a shorter line, if any. He went to the "Visa on Arrival" line at one end and was asked for and paid 100B and through in 5 minutes. Result.

Any remaining, or chanced to come back?

It's that old joke: What kind of animal has a penis half way up its back?

I see fat Tony's (substantial) restaurant has reappeared at Layan Beach , and the Reggae bar guy is selling drinks to beachgoers out of his car and a shack near the road side, and so on. Will these guys never go away?

Drink one beforehand, problem solved
Seriously though?

So if I bring in my regular 2 bottles of wine (total 1.5 liters) what will they do? Will they find it? Will they fine me or confiscate a bottle?

@AJBangkok
I agree with your understanding, but as to how that "private" property ended up being built on at the beachfront, I guess we will have to keep wondering.
-
Where was this? In the parking area behind the beach bar just to the south of Dream Beach Club? As far as I know that whole area is owned by the beach bar (allegedly)

Bangtao to laguna is not 10 Km.
-
Shopowners? On a public beach? I thought all these beaches had been cleared?
-
They all go scot free with their millions. One of them is now a senior soccer administrator.
-
Great News. Hope they get on with "redeveloping" the area into a public park, and take down the walls and "private property" signs at the roadside etc...

Have the 2 "hold out" bars at Laypang beach now gone? Are there any bars at all at Layan/ Laypang?
-
Which 2 are holding out?
-
Well then, to what extent did they take laypang, Layan today?
-
Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke! Tony's massive eyesore of a restaurant was to be demolished last year but then a "friend" in Bangkok intervened to stop it.
All these places being cleared today have been cleared before, about 18 months ago.
-
Anyone going up to Layan tomorrow with a camera?

Backstairs
Please post your pics

Bang Tao Beach without a doubt. . Stay in any of the hotels in Laguna. Try Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort or Angsana, both directly on the beach. Some good bargains on hotel rates in May as it is low season.

Nothing left

I presume they will come back later to clear that? Is that what happened in previous beach demolitions?
-
Any pics of how it was left (I am not in phuket at the mo)
Take a number: Phuket Airport immigration still overloaded

Normally of course no, but in this case yes. 4 hours extra of my and my son's time together for 100 baht.
