  1. The first thing Thailand needs to do is to create a truely national League in terms of geography. As with everything else in Thailand, football, is still too heavily concentrated on Bangkok and the large coporate sponsors based there. There IS plenty of talent out in the sticks but there are very few outlets for that talent to be shown and then taken to the next level.

  2. Its Platini who is really driving the whole anti Prem League attitude at the moment. Blatter will say anything if someone tells him it will make him popular. Since Platini took over as president of EUFA the anti English rhetoric from him has been getting louder and louder.

  3. The route that alot of the villagers (working on house building) take from Chon Buri to Phro Khon Chai is to take 304 until it dissects the Aranyapratet road, 33, and go on that until you get to the Wattana Nakon. From there you take the road, sorry typing from work no good map, which intersects the 3068 which runs to Lahan Sai. From there you go around Panom Rung to hit the 24 and then its a straight run to Ubon. The 33 is usually pretty fast and from Wattana Nakhon to the 24 is empty and fast and pleasant on the eyes. I've done this a number of times and whenever I've mentioned the 304 north of the 33 they always say too much traffic. Not as direct as other routes but actually pretty fast and hassle free.

  4. Well, sorry tso310.

But Turkey won on penalty shoot-out. In extra time is was this amazing 1:1 in the very last minute.

Germany in good form as against Portugal should be able to win against Turkey and reach the final.

Good luck to Germany on coming wednesday!

Bugger but hats off to the Turks. Incredible ending to a rather dull game. Apparently Turkey have only led their 4 Euro 2008 games for a total of nine minutes. I'm not going to try to predict the game against Germany now.

  5. It was a good win for the Germans but their central defenders are at best average.

I can only see a result for Croatia tonight. I can't see Turkey's attack getting much joy out of the physically stronger Croatians.

  6. Anyway, moving on...

I'm just wondering from the English fans, how you've found it's been, watching the tournament without us there.

For me, in the months running up to the event, i couldn't get interested at all. But funnily enough, now it's well underway, i have to say i have quite enjoyed it. It's been much less stressful without having to watch England play and get beat. Perhaps we should fail to qualify more often?! :o

Well I'm thoroughly enjoying it. We could still see a Croatia v Russia final which would be interesting from Englands non qualifying point of view and I have a sneaky feeling about Russia, getting better with every game. I can see Hiddinck tactically outfoxing Van Baston on Saturday. Every dark cloud has a silver lining and McLaren departure was certainly that.

  7. Many years ago there was an a/c Bor Kor Saw bus but I have no idea if its still running or where it actually started from (Surin or possibly Ubon). I'm pretty sure there is still a service from Korat which is easy for you to get to. Hopefully someone with more upto date info can help you.

  8. ...I wonder what they will find to censor next?...

    Tom and Jerry?

    Probably! :o

Don't laugh... Good old Tom & Jerry were taken off kid's telly in the UK by Mary Whitehouse back in the day... :D "Too violent" in her estimation. :D

Actually saw this happen in Saudi when I worked there many moons ago. Know as the Aramco kiss you see people staring to get close and then moving away from each other. Quite amusing when the scene involved two cartoon characters.

  9. In the words of the great poet John Cooper-Clarke

I fell in love with an alien being

whose skin was jelly - whose teeth were green

she had the big bug eyes and the death-ray glare

feet like water wings - purple hair

I was over the moon - I asked her back to my place

then I married the monster - from outer space

The days were numbered - the nights were spent

in a rent free furnished oxygen tent

where a cyborg chef served up moon beams

done super rapid on a laser beam

I needed nutrition to keep up the pace

when I married the monster from outer space

We walked out - tentacle in hand

you could sense that the earthlings would not understand

they'd go, nudge nudge when we got off the bus

    saying it's extra-terrestial - not like us

and it's bad enough with another race

but fuc_k me, a monster from outer space

In a cybernetic fit of rage

she pissed off to another age

    she lives in 1999

with her new boyfriend - a blob of slime

each time I see her translucent face

I remember the monster from outer space

  10. There is a fish restaurant in Prakon Chai that has its own lake for fishing, you catch they cook.

That's about 45km east of Nang Rong, it's a very busy road though and I have travelled it a couple of times by bike, not a pleasant experience.

    Currently closed.

That's a shame, thanks for the update, any idea of when/if it will re-open?

No idea but Lamps did state somewhere in this forum that the owner had temporarily returned to Belgium to work. Couldn't find the post.

  11. The SilkAir crash featured in Air Crash Investigations on National Geographic. Only the US NTSB said it was a pilot suicide. The Singapore and Indonesion investigators pointed to a fault in the aircrafts rudder. I thought the NTSBs argument about the pilot deliberately crashing the aircraft was pretty flimsy. The pilots religon never came up in the program I far as I can remember. The NTSB claimed he was in debt and it was an insurance job. The program pointed out that he was purchasing a new house and the taking out an insurance policy was a necessary part of obtaining the mortgage. Its worth watching this particular episode.

  12. A Tesco Express, including a petrol station, would make sense. There is a lot of passing trade to be had on highway 24. Just because Tesco has possibly bought some land does not mean that building will commence soon after. They could easily have bought for developement in 2010, that is how they work.

  13. I thought some land had been bought by Tesco for a possible Express store. Its common practice for Tesco to buy land in prime locations for possible for future developements.
