  1. Yes this is windows, but works the same on Android.

Sorry to keep asking questions but you are the only person I know who has managed to get the iPlayer working on 17 using Android so interested to know what device, os and if possible to take screenshots of the settings in Android as I and many others have been looking for a solution. Thanks

As for the skin just checking every angle.

  2. This is good news, if possible can you take screenshots of your settings for the iPlayer, proxy settings etc. Thanks.

And is that the Confluence skin?

Edit: the most important question that I forget to ask, which platform as it looks like windows?

  3. bbci.JPG.7665df10f88c24777c63ce3ecdad7998.JPG   Everything inside the BBCIplayer that isn't live is catch up

Catch-up is a general term for many providers hence the request to confirm, We all get to that screen in Kodi 17 but no streams play, can you play a stream? And are you using out side the UK without a VPN or other?

Seriously interested to know as I have found no one who can used on 17 and even the developer has acknowledged the problem and tells users to only use 16.

  4. You can have SPMC and Kodi on the same device, if on Android, they have both their own data folder.

By the way, the catch up works on Kodi 17.1, the live channels are available from several other addons.

By catchup do you mean iPlayer addon?

Just tried again and still not working on 17.1

  5. Thanks for confirmation. I'm not sure or a big user of Kodi, but is it just a case of installing both 16.+ and 17 on same device? I thought that both versions accessed the exact same user data folders so 17 doesn't start if using an existing 16.+ data folder - am I correct? How do you get around that issue easily?

Assuming Android platform Use Kodi 17 and SPMC for the 16.x version. The play store will only update 16 to 17 and not allow both. I use Minix XBMC version 16.3 to get round this as I have a Minix box. They will be separate entities and if like me you will only install the iPlayer on the 16 version and use 17 for everything else.

  6.

This BBCiPlayer is up to ver 0.3.0 now by Mikey but doesn't seem to work on Kodi 17 in Thailand but does work with Kodi 16+ and SPMC16.6 using the addon settings. Anyone else noticed this or got a work around for Kodi 17 without having to run a VPN in the o/s as well? I've stayed with Kodi 16.1 until I know a fix?

Still not working on Kodi 17, I also have Minix 16.3 installed only for the iPlayer all other addons now on 17. No work around yet and Mikey doesn't seem to be in any hurry to update if indeed he can.

  7.   It makes a huge difference.   590 Baht is the VDSL package with very poor international speeds.

900 Baht is the ADSL package with good international speeds, but no longer available to new customers.

1200 Baht is the Fibre package, which isn't comparable to the ones above.

I agree I think this is impacting NEW subscribers on VDSL and it is common knowledge that 3BB are killing off ADSL and transferring unwitting existing ADSL customers as it rolls out. As for the OP on Fiber maybe it is called something different and hopefully someone with a similar setup will have specific info on the Posters needs but it seems 3BB@inter on VDSL is required for international streaming especially in the evenings. Day time works OK. A bit off topic but Maybe someone knows the answer to this: Does VDSL make it easier for the ISP to "control" your service as opposed to the old ADSL?

  8. Not sure for fibre, but 3BB offers a B200 "Inter" package supplement to some other plans (VDSL, for sure) to boost the speed of International sites.  Might check with 3BB and see?

From my limited experience so far it looks like the inter package probably reduces or eliminates international throttling as opposed to boosting speed.
Don't know about long time subscribers but the 3BB@inter seems to be essential if you want low or buffer free international streaming and for anyone about to decide on their ISP should factor this in to the cost.
  9. I have 3BB 50/20 VDSL and international traffic (streaming) is excessively throttled in the evening yet all speedtests including test my.net indicate fast speeds at the same time.

    A VPN had zero effect!

Streaming from Thailand sites are not affected. Now enquiring on 3BB@inter add on package for 200 baht + tax and will report back on any outcome.

You will need to contact 3BB for availability on Fiber packages. Call 1530 and select English.

  10. yes that's what I think i've got too but I'll go check it's working correctly as i can never pay with it  lol   I have the Verified by Visa on my Thai CC's - anyway I'll report back

I will add that I have a Visa "debit" ATM card with Kasikorn and it does not work as a debit card. The Kasikorn card doesn't have my name on it only something like "privileged member" and was issued immediately, my Be 1st card does have my name on it and I had to wait a week for issue. It came with a sizeable transaction limit that can be altered by calling the bank. The card arrived at the bank in a sealed envelope with PIN in protective slip. Here in Thailand a "debit" card does not necessarily mean it is a debit card and can only be used as an ATM card.

  11. I'm going to look into this debit card thing, in fact I have an ATM  Be 1st card so i guess that's a debit card,  but can it be used with Amazon?  Agoda etc?  everytime I try and use it at Rimping it gets rejected but I'll look at it again

I've got the Be 1st VISA debit card and have used on Aliexpress and EBay via Paypal. I also had the card registered with Verified by Visa (tip from a Thaivisa member) and booked UK return flights. The Union Pay version being unfairly & wrongly forced on some is useless.

  12.

Can i ask what Account Type its connected too.?They said they would give me Visa on my Current acc, but not on Fixed Hi Interest.

Standard passbook with ATM Savings account plus online banking. The website should tell what you can have and do with your specific fixed account.  I also thought a fixed account meant no penalty free withdrawals or debits questioning the need for any kind of debit card on that type of account.

  13. The "New" Debit does not have Visa in conjunction with fixed acc. I did insist yesterday and it was explained as my post states.

I requested and received the visa debit card only last week. They are available with no restrictions as detailed on their website. Unfortunately for yourself ,and others I should add, once informed that "you can not have or not have" you are effectively stuffed as they back themselves into a corner and would rather lose your business than change their answer.

  14. Please read the above posts, call Bangkok bank or visit the nearest branch, it is over buddy, the Chinese are taking over Bangkok bank.

My request for a visa debit card was accepted last Friday. Before going to the bank I checked what I wanted from their website. Yes they did try to push the Union card on me but I smiled and shook my head and requested the visa version as per their website. If they refused i would have gone elsewhere.

  15. I just contacted bangkok bank branch and hotline they both confirmed to me they stop issuing Visa debit cards and instead issue Union pay debit cards because a pin number must be entered for more security which I kind like it and it can only be used where places and websites show Union pay logo.  Any information regarding the spread use of the logo?  Otherwise I will have to open another bank account in different bank any suggestions of a better bank?

They haven't stopped issuing visa debit cards, maybe making it harder so demand one or take your custom to another bank or just try another branch if it's an account opening.

  16. Appreciate your input but I don't like to be pushed when it comes to my money, I read some good posts about other banks like kasikorn bank  which couple of my friends also doing business with them and never complained.

I see you started another post, if you see my comment a few posts back you will note that my Kasikorn branch were not helpful so I tried a Bangkok Bank branch who were very helpful. The truth is that it depends on the attitude of the branch staff and not necessarily which Bank.
  17. The RBS/Halifax have an embargo on Thailand and won't renew cards ie, send by post, have you any money at all in RBS maybe still active, then renew card next time you are in UK some banks keep an account going for a long time, Nationwide being one with less than £2 credit only and also renew cards onlne and send by post,

I received my new Halifax credit card yesterday, They sent me a letter explaining that they will only send with DHL at a cost £7.xx. All i had to do was call them and accept the charge. The hardest part was remembering the security questions.

I have also recently applied for a new account at Bangkok Bank and requested the Be 1st Smart Visa debit card firstly turning down their offer of the useless Union variety.

I am ditching Kasikorn as my branch wouldn't give me a usable debit card instead of their pretend one with your name as"privileged member". Their K-Web virtual card was good for online purchases at Lazada, eBay etc.

Going back to the OP question, yes you will need help as a debit card in Thailand doesn't always mean you can use it as a debit card!
