  1. There is a white line on the road indicating that oncoming vehicles do not have the right of way. The magnificent, very well planned elephant roundabout in Buriram had to have traffic lights to make it work. (recently).

The problem is not the Thai drivers, it is the lack of public education on TV. I see every day clips of villagers complaining about bad roads but I never saw any complaining about badly designed roads. The activities of the road safety council or whatever it is called seem to be confined to exhorting the cops to increase vigilance every Song Kran and new Year.

I have only seen one Thai road safety video since I got here, and it was never ot TV.

I live near the Elephant Roundabout in Buriram, greatly increased traffic congestion since the traffic lights were added and still no one has a clue - starting from the Right Hand lane to turn next left etc. As far as I can see all they have managed to do is make everyone wait for 3 cycles of lights. I use to walk the dog (carefully) across the main road but can not now as the 2 lane road has now been turned into a 3 lanes by the impatient drivers!

  2. So called Smart TV's are not wort paying extra for but I have noticed that they seem to have more inputs ie: 3 HDMI instead of 2. How many devices do you need to connect to, in my case 3 Cable Box, Android Box, DVD Player

  3. Travelled to many countries but Manila probably tops the list where I felt most threatened, outdoing Mexico and New York City in the mid 80's. Attempted scam within 10 mins of leaving the hotel in the morning ( I researched a lot before going there!).

You can be walking at 10:00 am and almost sense crossing an invisible line where once you felt safe and where you felt your life was suddenly at risk and backtrack quickly.

On the plus side they have some of the most beautiful islands once you get out of the big cities but still not totally safe.

  4. I have noticed that far fewer items are sold directly by Lazada these days, I have ordered many items successfully in the past but lately I have had a few defective products requiring the hassle of sending back. Before anyone says it paying COD would not have helped as the problems only came to light during usage and I am sure the delivery will not wait for you to carry out a full operational test. In my mind they are turning into the large Chinese reseller who I no longer use - no names but you should know who I mean. Also watch out for the no warranty items as you will only get 7 days to return electrical products.

  5. It is very difficult to walk a male dog - balls or no balls! , when ours passed away we got a female bitch, not a conscious decision. All of a sudden walking a dog was a possibility after having her spayed. Still have to fend off some unwanted attention but it tends to be non aggressive and even made friends along the way. I assume the OP is referring to a male dog?

  6. I have purchased numerous electrical items from Lazada and the majority have arrived in perfect condition. Only last week I purchased an Android TV Box that would not restart correctly after a power off. On closer inspection the product does not appear to be new as it had strange security seals on the box and this did not match a YouTube Unboxing Video plus missing plastic protection caps on the supplied HDMI Lead. The item was from a Reseller but Lazada are ultimately responsible. I am still awaiting a response from Lazada.

  7. In my case the phone made it all the way to the airport where it was screened and subsequently send back to me. I don't know if it was random or if they screen everything. My local Post Office did warn me not to send and they only accepted the item after talking to the Post Office Manager. Personally I will no longer purchase such items internationally.
