Neglected to mention that the reverse track is true for the bus, but mercurial for the vans; used to be under the Victory monument bridge, though read elsewhere that it has moved and keep moving. Vans, often solicit outside Ekkamai BoKoSor to Chonburi, but I have avoided them so far.

I live in Chonburi and often go to Bangkok on a weekly basis.
This is what I have learned so far:
1- Bus
By far the fastest and safest method.
Two possibilities : Ekkamai BoKoSor or Morchit
tickets are ฿67 to Ekkamai, purchased from a kiosk outside Eastern Hotel. Trip last from 1.3 H to under 2 hours depending of the time of day.
never taken the Morchit one though few extras are in order.
There is plenty of parking space should one decide to leave one's own mode of transport to the station.
The Eastern Hotel point is a convenient downtown station that seems to be more popular than the official Bus Station terminal located few km to the north east. Often a bus originating from The Eastern Hotel point passes by the main Terminal to pick up passengers or parcels.
A small diversion from the Sukhumvit road.
here are the locations of both points:
-Eastern Hotel
924 Sukhumvit Rd, Tambon Bang Pla Soi, Amphoe Mueang Chon Buri, Chang Wat Chon Buri 20000
038 273 800

51, Moo 4, Sukhumvit Road, Tambon Ban Suan, Amphoe Mueang Chon Buri, Chon Buri, 20000, Tambon Ban Suan, Amphoe Mueang Chon Buri, Chang Wat Chon Buri 20000

Vans are best found along the Sukhumvit Road,
In addition to their safety records and frequent stops, I don't see them as viable unless I am desperate.
There is or was a van station just outside Central Chonburi that might trim the trip time but not the reckless driving.Hope I answered your question adequately.

My experience with AIS:
I have a 50/10 connection with AIS for a year now. I pay ฿950.16 monthly.
It came with a Playbox that I could hardly understand or view as it is all in Thai, and disconnected it altogether from my TV.
AIS will supply you with a very outmoded Fibre modem/router, to which they attach another router that operates on both 2.4 and 5 hertz denomination. You will effectively end up with 3 networks. Surely there must be a modem/router capable of such feat, but AIS knows best I suppose.
They will keep bombarding you with ads to upgrade to the platinum package for a modest sum for the first few months and charge the full sum subsequently, but I never fell for that bait, as my watching is modest and confined to BBC, CNN and the likes, which I get through a browser.
The connection itself is wonderful according to Ookla. But when you choose more unbiased sources the real connection is more like 30/7 on http protocols, other protocols fair way better.
There are certain times of the day where the connection is completely absent or it is so slow that the beach ball spins for a considerable time. I suppose it is the area one lives in and the prevailing infra structure that would make it tolerable or otherwise.
If you are after support, the English speakers almost non existent. I could imagine them looking at the English line and waiting for each other to pick the call, just like they do when you walk in any Thai commercial establishment where they suddenly get absorbed in whatever they are not doing, while looking sideways praying that someone else would have the guts to greet you...
In the event of getting really lucky talking to a CSR, and after ascertaining you are not a drunk farang by suggesting many tests you could or would perform on your own, a promise of a technician who will contact you within 24H or... months...
Recently, I was informed by a Thai friend that I can dislodge the Playbox from my subscription and save about 400 baht per month, which I did immediately.

Sorry, I was trying to help.
Since AIS offers CNN on their Playbox platinum package, for a hefty monthly sum, the OP is depriving them of a hefty monthly income.

Lately, DTAC international calls relay has been acting very weirdly.
When I receive international calls, a weird number, lacking the international prefix and with a 02, 06, 093, 043 prefix are appearing ahead of some unknown numbers that turn out to be members of my family, friends or associates, whose numbers are stored in my contacts book but never seem to appear when the call comes.
I have had the same problem with AIS early this year and changed to DTAC. The numbers appeared normally, then started becoming very weird indeed.
When I called DTAC to ask about the problem, the operator gave me some weirder answer about the country of origin problem. I would have believed her if the calls span one country, but since the numbers span 3 continents and about 10 countries, it was clear she was given a canned answer to pass even before I finished exposing the problem.
It is clear that Tel Companies in Thailand are using the IP system to route their calls, and GSM is no longer being used, so I hinted as much to her, which stopped her in her tracks with a brief silence gap, then promised to pass my problem to the concerned department.
I do not have much faith or hope in Thai communication companies. I do not believe they care enough to correct the issue, especially if it involves cerebral effort in that direction.
Would members of this forum care to comment on this issue? Is there any way I can identify the IDD calls? It is so disconcerting not knowing who is calling, sometimes the same person with different numbers for the same phone number.
I have 2 iPhones with 2 different numbers. Are other, embers of this forum experiencing the same? Different phone make perhaps?
And I thought it couldn't get any weirder...!

What is the procedure to get a Motorbike Driving License? I already have a Thai car one.
i do not have one, as I learned how to ride one in Thailand. I would like to be legal.
is there a test, written, field?
is the written test in English?
how difficult or easy is it?
Can someone point me in the right direction?
If any member done one from scratch, I would welcome advice.

Apologise if I am way off topic, but wanted to know whether a VPN account would thwart such intrusion?

The thing that I cannot yet fathom is why all these individuals, pouring in from all corners of the world, choose Thailand to hang themselves from a ceiling fan, jump off from an always high balcony, 'anesthesiate' themselves into an incurable coma, and so on and so forth...
There must be something mystical about Thailand. Meet thy fate or something....

I love all sorts of cuisine.
still, the best way to determine what food it really is, is to sneak a peek at who is really cooking.
i have found from experience that authentic cuisine is indigenous to its nation.

Has any one who has taken the plunge into Internet of things and home automation and wishes to offer advice?

I have had the same conundrums; allow me to share 'lessons learned', lessons that none of the carrier wants you to know.
Data packages, named add-on, fill up etc. are different between prepaid and post paid. Just compare them on the website of the respective carrier.
The carrier would offer you a better deal if you have a post paid sim, and 'take it or leave it' choice.
Your arm has already been bent, it is just a matter of more pressure.....
The important thing to a carrier is a guaranteed income. A post paid is. A pre-paid, uhhmmm, not...
So they make up for it by increasing the price on pre-paid package add-ons.
I have had the same experience with all the three AIS, DTAC and True and I suspect TOT. Are not far behind.
I don't think this practice is limited to Thailand, It is everywhere, unfair but a common tactic among sharks.
I am in the middle of a sim port from one company to another, and you should see what mess that is...
Perhaps I will post about my experience with this specific arduous task when it is completed.

I hope they warn the tourist/visitors as well, not just the Pattayans

Back in May 2016, I obtained a Thai Driving License based on the international one.
Validity is 2 years and was told the next one would be 5 years.
My question is:
Do I have to keep my international driving license valid, comes renewal time?
The international one is valid for 1 year and will expire before the renewal time. Moreover, the DL from my country, on which the international one is based will expire this July 2016.
Do I have to keep all these licenses valid, or I can depend on the Thai from now on, as I am retired here?

So le me get this straight:
- if i decide to go to Chiang Moew (fictitious) for 3 days holiday, I'm supposed to notify the local immigration authority there through a TM28?
-And when I do, my House Master is supposed to notify his regional/local Immigration office when I am back through a TM30?
In addition, there is the TM6 that I fill in the airplane, the 90 days notification, my passport on me all the time . I have started taking it with me to the 7-11 across the road....just in case...!
I can see now the benefits of Government Enforced Wear of a Magnetised Bracelet/GPS on all Aliens, entering, residing moving around in Thailand!
Think of all the paperwork and trees saved...!

I have the same problems and I am at the same age. It started 4 years back and it got worse.
As all advised, it is stress or Greatly aggravated by stress.
Doctors had these options for me:
1- Botox
It paralyses the nerve/s responsible.
The downsides:
A- you would need to do both halves of your face to keep a semblance of normality for onlookers, otherwise people would staring at discrepancy .
B- It would have to be done every about 6 months as the effect wears away.
2- a doctor suggested surgery whereby a Teflon snippet is inserted between the the artery/vein pulsating and the nerve it is touching.
According to the doctor I would have been the first test subject.
Obviously both options are not very attractive, and I wool have to suffer till someone find a cure.
I would be very interested in members opinions.
It is taking a toll on my social life and indeed my day to day life.
