I've had good and bad things from IKEA here.
A very good foam mattress that at 6,000B is vastly superior to a 20,000B Thai mattress.
A very good pine computer desk at 12,500B.
And a rather poor office chair at 2,500B which required steel arm supports to be made by a local chap (300B) to strengthen the plastic ones which broke within a few months of purchase, though the rest of the chair (fabric, gas strut) is OK.

You don't like them much, do you?
Most sensible foreigners leave the country for the 2 weeks surrounding Songkran. If you want to experience Songkran in a fairly civilised way perhaps best to stay in Bangkok or to go somewhere that doesnt have a mad tourist element.

My air-con produces more than a big bucket of water a day. I know because I collect it and use it for watering my plants and rinsing my balcony.
Removing humidity is the primary function of my air-con as I have the temperature set to 27 degrees, which in Jomtien is not much lower than the outdoor temperature a lot of the time. It's the humidity reduction I am after, and that's where the comfort is.

Can you please tell me which cat unlimited data package you are using and are there any GB data capping restrictions or speed throttling .
I have the 4mbs package and it doesnt appear to have any sort of volume cap or throttling, though with my usage I am unlikely ever to find out. I basically use it for streaming audio in my car, streaming TV in hotels with bad wifi, and general web-surfing, emails and satnav live data when out and about. And it is also a back-up in case my home VDSL goes down.

The point in this case was that there was no request for money to solve an immediate problem, and indeed there was no immediate problem. The OP was not going to be detained for anything yesterday.
It was a future payment to avoid imaginary future problems that was under discussion.

It is quite common here (and elsewhere) for people to invent problems in order to charge a fee for solving them. Lawyers and plumbers both try it on frequently.
The trick is not to be taken in.- 10

Broad general cost will be:
Cost + shipping+ins× %duty+vat +applicable service/processing charge (subject to who is handling it).
The advantage of Amazon is that they quote an all-in price in their "international store", and all taxes duties and fees are included. See my link.

Lazada have some great deals on Thai sim cards
Ex. True 4Mbps Unlimited data valid for 1 year from registration at 1,765baht
https://www.lazada.co.th/products/sim-true-4g-4mbps-1-i276399679-s441313689.html
The problem with those is that you cant apply the package to your existing SIM/number. I found that a bit of a nuisance.

800k is more or less $26K.
you can leave it in the thai savings account and earn 2,000 baht.
you can stick it in a thai fixed deposit account and earn 10,000 baht.
My time deposit here pays 2.5% tax-free. That's 20,000B on my 800kB deposit.

Thaiwatsadu in Pattaya has always been fairly light on air-con and fairly heavy on big fans. But they are also often a bit cheaper than other stores (though not always). I generally buy my DIY things there.

I have owned 3 houses in company names. I paid 12.000 Bt. (can vary, depending on who you hire) for each of them yearly. Most of that sum was the accountant's/ lawyer's fees and a tiny amount in taxes as the company wasn't making a profit.
But certainly...must be done ...yearly.
That's the normal yearly accounting/tax fee. The tax being talked about here is a different one and is on top of that yearly accounting fee.

The treatment of animals here often sickens me. All so-called "entertainment" that involves animals should be banned outright. Not to do so proves that they are just money-grabbers at heart.

I don't want like to do it myself. I like people do it for me. I am not into charity to donate my money to children hospital after I die. Why I like to pay agents? Because I could and I am not into charity. You can donate your money by doing it your self and saving the money for donation to children's hospital and I salute you for your noble sacrifice.
I dont see how wanting to have someone else do it makes the price they charge in any way "fair". It's just your personal preference and you are welcome to it of course.
As for charities, they will do pretty well out of me when I die and it wont be any sacrifice on my part.

300USD is a fair price for this kind of visa services.
Doing it yourself would cost 1900B (about USD60) so five times the price seems quite high to me. Of course if they are "smoothing out" the cash deposit requirements that could be a reason for charging so much extra, but that doesnt seem to be the case for the OP.

I must be missing something. Are not gains withdrawn subject to capital gains tax?
It depends on who you are and where you live and where your investments are.

When I was in Bangkok a few weeks ago I saw several shops offering visa services around the Sukumvit Soi 11-13 area. If you get no recommendations that might be a good place to look.

I saw somebody in on nut advertising 300 baht for 90-day report. Cant beat that.
As far as I know that is the going price in Pattaya also. If you get your entire extension done by an agent here then the 90-day reports are usually included in the price of the extension. They can do that because they go to Immigration every day and so to carry one extra passport is no big deal.
Lawyers make simple things appear difficult so that they can charge more. They are to be avoided.

Thailand generally is way overpriced. If anything IKEA is an exception.
