  1. Speculators? You know how many people try to supplement retirement by putting some savings in stocks/ETF? Or parents trying to generate some extra savings for the future of their children? What should they do otherwise? Get interest from their banks? 0.5% ... It's not only rich-already-people that put their money in assets.
  2. Social responsibility enough I'd say when you pay up to 48% income tax, capital gains tax, VAT, inheritance tax (over money that was taxed already), and on and on. The EU asked people to invest more instead of just save. And then you get this? You don't seem to have a clue what this means. Capital will leave The Netherlands. They're shooting themselves in the foot and they actually know it. But there's no better alternative, they say. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Then that's your loss... Exactly that is why this is a poor idea. Losses can not be deducted later. If you make profit, the government takes its share, if you lose then that is too bad for you.
  3. The problem is that unrealized gains are taxed. If you gain 10% between January 1 and December 31st, you will be taxed on it even though the money is still in your assets. When January 5th the next year everything drops 20%, you will lose the taxes paid over the 10%of the previous year and you'll loose on the 20% drop in asset value. People might have to sell investments just to pay their taxes on it 🤷🏼‍♂️
  4. Looking at the picture, I would guess that this lady probably has Chinese roots herself, if you go back a generation or 3. Phuket, and especially Phuket Town, has a large Sino-Thai community.
  5. Since it mostly takes places within their club, they actually might want to lower/deflect the attention. Just saying...
  6. A shameless vote buying move. It's amazing how people can be influenced with money promises. What happened to the lady openly complaining that she didn't get her 500 Baht to vote for Bumjai Thai in the local elections ?
  7. Running out of family members ... Maybe the brain-computer interface technology degree will be helpful 😄
  8. The original letter might have been photographed with the Google translate app. Fonts look similar.
  9. A little update on the nutritious toastie 😁🫣 Drop the image in AI tool to give you some analysis. I count only 38 additives.
  10. Have a look at the back of the packaging... I think there's a mouthwatering 14 food additives (INS ingredient numbers) in that 7/11 toastie. And then look up what they are. Everything CP produces will get you killed a few years earlier when you look how processed it all is. The food industry is mad. Enjoy!
  11. Planning, instead of "more is better"... Thailand is very good at controlling (or so it thinks), so it's time to start doing so. An idyllic island like Phi Phi (that it once was) which is ruined by Mc Donald's, shopping mall and developments alike. Tourist towns which have an ever increasing number of tattoo shops, massage shops and bars. Unlimited signage all over causing sight pollution, not to speak of noise and environmental pollution. Thailand likes to "create" a lot of tourist attractions, not always for the better. Look at what you have culturally, environmentally and socially and use that to offer a genuine experience. Increae quality, not quantity. And don't think people will return always anyways. End of rant 🙏🏻😆
  12. That is quite the typical, ridiculous Thai dance, which when done by a guy looks extremely ridiculous. So the answer would be "YES"
  13. So remember you would also not be allowed to drink at home!
  14. There are many people who have plenty reasons to do so. But your replies could be helpful to some.
  15. Since a week ir so we (the wife and I) have noticed a sharp rise in scam calls again. One day I received six calls in series of 3. I got called, refused the call and within seconds another call from a different number. And this 3 times, right after another. Mrs. thinks it might be the change in government / MP call center investors 🙃🤷🏼‍♂️
  16. Shaved head and fish porridge? 60 in a cell, lying side by side?
  17. It's not a silent crisis. It's extremely loud, but just doesn't get acknowledged by the government or the the public. Besides fate, there's always "the next life"...
  18. Thought he went to Dubai... secretly trying to slip back into the government house?
  19. Cambodian mother has a Thai boyfriend. They should get married and the to-be husband can adopt the boy. Some comments here clearly show the Western current anti-immigrant sentiment. You are in Asia now. This is a child FFS. There are international agreements for childrens human rights as well. What would he do in a country of which he doesn't even speak the language? This kid will probably contribute more than the average citizen here if he keeps up the good work.
  20. That's beacause the original movies originate from the 80's and 90's, and they want it to have a similar look. The same is done in new Star Wars series.
  21. Pretty much sums it up how it works... ✉️💰
  22. You could buy an AZERTY sticker set for your keyboard, just like they have them for Thai. Lazada has it.
