What's discouraging about this news is that Western embassies apparently apply no pressure whatsoever. Sure, I don't know the inner workings or secret relationships between the Thai government and, say, the US government. But I can see when China gets results for its citizens and when the US gets/does nothing. Thailand spat in the face of the US when it turned down Tammy Duckworth's 1 million Pfizer doses. US citizens had to crawl around and beg for Covid shots, while nationals only venues were set up for people from China and France. One person even reported that the initial 1.5 million Pfizer doses were parceled out to organization such as the Singapore Chamber of Commerce, which then did a separate vaccination for its citizens. China takes care of its citizens and its businesses. That is why the signs in Thailand are increasingly in Chinese. Looks to me like the West, and especially the US, can only beg and grovel, when it should be pounding on the table.

Maybe thanks to sloppy, sleepy Joe and his Indian ?

If only they read this forum they wouldn't be doing this - if only someone could enlighten them!

Sorry, but I think it's safe to assume the Central Group have a bit more business savvy than you - they have a pretty good track record of success globally.

Do not agree. Too many takeovers like this dramatically failed and billions have been lost. Do some research.

folks on here probably never heard of Texas Lone star or Silver dollar bar,  or Mambo show .... those were the days my friend.

There are people on TV who know BKK since the 80ies, and I'm one of them. Don't know Mambo Show but recall the others. Would not have expected you having been a patron there, as they hardly match your political views.

I feel the need to stir the pot. Does anyone else believe this is a DELIBERATE effort to kill the red-light venues, as an indirect way to actualize the xenophobia of the current “administration.” They hate foreigners, they want them out, and this is an effective way to do it without overtly declaring so; similar to the retirement alterations

There is no other logic behind these specific closures, considering that places like tree town are blatantly selling alcohol and the place is packed with people every night. there is no logic in closing open air bars if this is allowed max

Very much right and IF I would be e retiree, I definitely would have left when these clowns took over.
