  1. When is Pattaya city going to fix their sidewalks? They have allowed private businesses to steal 90% of the sidewalks in Pattaya. Soi Buokaw is pretty much void of sidewalks nowadays. On all the side sois to beach road the sidewalks have been stolen by bars and restaurants. Sidewalks on walking street are completely gone.
  2. If Thailand had a traffic police that actually enforced the traffic rules this would never happen. You are not allowed to carry passengers in the back of a pick-up truck.
  3. The money will have been in the account for nearly a year. Will do thei in Pattaya so assume they will only need to see the updated bankbook
  4. I have a bankbook. Assume all I need, regarding the money, is to update this and show this to immigration. Or do I also need a letter from the bank? I know I will need a letter from the bank later on for the one year extension.
  5. Hi, Can someone give me the steps to go from a 30 day visa exempt entry to NON-IMM O and then a one year retirement extension? Thanks
  6. The government promised, three month ago, that they would fix this problem in three months ????
  7. In 90 days the burning season will be over and SW monsoon will start so there will be no PM 2.5 problems anyway. The test will be next November, December when it will most likely start again.
  8. Powdered milk works fine for yogurt, UHT mik does not. The taste depend on the milk powder but Ive had no problems. The milk usually taste a bit better after a few days in the fridge, do this before making your yogurt.
  9. 99.9% of side car motorbikes are illegal. There are only a few, factory made, that has been approved by LTA. It also would not hurt to wear a helmet, sadly this habit has more or less disappeared and the police don't care. As 85% of all fatalities are motor bike drivers or passengers you could probably half the national death toll by enforcing the helmet law.
  10. The vast majority of fatalities are motorcycle riders and most of these fatalities are from riders without a helmet. Just enforce the helmet law to 100% and the total fatalities will drop by more than 50%. In most neighboring countries they manage to do this by here in Thailand they don't care.
  11. Two people die and they plan massive changes. Meanwhile at least 30,000 die in traffic and they do nothing???
  12. They should also stop the extremely noisy bikes speeding up and down Thappraya road, both day and night. Max speed on this road should be 60kmp but there is not a single speed sign. There are a few gantry's over this road with a number of cameras and other equipment that could be used, but they probably don't work. Thousands of people live along this road in hotels, condos and houses and they are woken up every night by the noise.
  13. I'm sure that all prisoners with high blood pressure and sleeping problems, the first night in prison, get a helicopter ride to the police hospital.
  14. I wonder if they are upgrading their helmets to TIS approved helmets as everyone else have to use.
  15. There are enough illegal, modified, dangerous, vehicles on the streets already. Do not encourage this. DLT and traffic police should do their work.
  16. They should also have a look at all the noisy cars and motorbikes speeding up and down Thappraya road all night. There are a few gantries, with all sorts of equipment mounted on them, over Thappray road near the Pratumnak crossing. I thought these were there to monitor traffic and speed but they are obviously there just for decoration
  17. It's clearly stated in the vehicle act that you are not allowed to lower the windscreen visibility from original. If you do so the change must be approved by DLT. There is no mentioning of tinting per say but tinting lowers the visibility and must be approved. I have no clue what standards they use for approval. Like I said before, conforming with regulations and enforcement is not a big thing in Thailand
  18. First, I have never seen anyone changing to an exhaust system that make less noise, at least not in Thailand. The laws here are pretty much the same as in all other countries. All vehicles have been type approved and any changes from original must be approved and checked by DLT. Change of appearance, like color, must be approved and entered in the book. Performance changes must be approved. Environmental changes like exhaust gases and sound must be approved. Safety changes like lowering the drivers visibility, tinting, must be approved. All this is outlined in government regulations, same as in most other countries. The difference here is that no one cares and there is no or little enforcement.
  19. According to Thai law it's illegal to make alterations to the exhaust system, original parts must be used. It does not matter if the result is less than 95db.
  20. The renters are a big part of this problem. The fines for renting to someone without a license should be increased an be heavily enforced. Take a quick look at the big bikes at the rental places and you will find that nearly all of them have illegal aftermarket "silencers" . This means that the bikes are illegal and should be confiscated. Any renter continuing to rent out illegal bikes should be banned from renting out bikes.
  21. Must be good to be a traffic police in Thailand, they only work for a week every 3-4 months.
