"UFO" in Pattaya Brings Color and Smiles to Locals and Tourists
pattjock replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
There are enough illegal, modified, dangerous, vehicles on the streets already. Do not encourage this. DLT and traffic police should do their work. -
Pattaya Traffic Police Crack Down on Arab Groups

They should also have a look at all the noisy cars and motorbikes speeding up and down Thappraya road all night. There are a few gantries, with all sorts of equipment mounted on them, over Thappray road near the Pratumnak crossing. I thought these were there to monitor traffic and speed but they are obviously there just for decoration -
It's clearly stated in the vehicle act that you are not allowed to lower the windscreen visibility from original. If you do so the change must be approved by DLT. There is no mentioning of tinting per say but tinting lowers the visibility and must be approved. I have no clue what standards they use for approval. Like I said before, conforming with regulations and enforcement is not a big thing in Thailand

First, I have never seen anyone changing to an exhaust system that make less noise, at least not in Thailand. The laws here are pretty much the same as in all other countries. All vehicles have been type approved and any changes from original must be approved and checked by DLT. Change of appearance, like color, must be approved and entered in the book. Performance changes must be approved. Environmental changes like exhaust gases and sound must be approved. Safety changes like lowering the drivers visibility, tinting, must be approved. All this is outlined in government regulations, same as in most other countries. The difference here is that no one cares and there is no or little enforcement.

The renters are a big part of this problem. The fines for renting to someone without a license should be increased an be heavily enforced. Take a quick look at the big bikes at the rental places and you will find that nearly all of them have illegal aftermarket "silencers" . This means that the bikes are illegal and should be confiscated. Any renter continuing to rent out illegal bikes should be banned from renting out bikes.

If red/white means no parking and yellow/white also means no parking but you are allowed a brief stop as opposed to red/white where you are not allowed to stop.. This means red/white is no stopping, unless in an emergency. This is not a Thai rule but the same everywhere else where curb markings are used.

Baraku seized from Restaurant Near Hotel in Thalang
pattjock replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
They probably smoked fruit flavored tobacco, had they smoked cannabis they would have been OK -
If laws were enforced jet skis would not be a problem. According to Thai law you need to have a Thai second class helmsman license to operate a jet ski. I doubt that any of the tourists renting the jet skis have this so the entire operation is illegal.

I did not ask everyone but the vast majority I have talked to don't like to have them next to the swimming and sun bathing areas. The people renting out these things are constantly driving them very close to the beach to attract customers, creating noise and stinking fumes. They can be fun and practical but there should be an area well away from people that want to have a relaxing and safe time at the beach. Police conduct checks of motorbike drivers licenses all the time and people renting out a bike to someone without a motorbike license can be fined. You need a license to drive a jet ski but I have never seen anyone check anyone's license.

To use a jet ski in Thailand you need to have a valid license. All these rentals should be banned. Most people hate Jet skis, only a small percentage use them but they are annoying the majority. This is the same as renting a motor bike without a motorbike license. Many laws but no enforcement what so ever.

Pattaya Municipal Officials Clean Soi Six Of Illegal Chairs and Signs
pattjock replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
All soi's between 2nd road and beach road used to have sidewalks on both sides. Nearly all of these have been stolen from the City by bar and restaurant owners. The sidewalks are now incorporated in the bars/restaurants making walking around harder, less parking space and the roads more narrow. -
Patong Car Rental Operator Arrested for Parking Vehicles in Public Spaces

They should go to Pattaya where 100's of meters of beach road are occupied by motorcycle rental bikes. -
I thought it was illegal to feed pigeons. According to this you can be fined 25,000Baht or spend 3 months in prison. But as per usual there is no enforcement what so ever.
