  1. It seems to happen pretty often now. Friends of mine had the same experience. Coming from the airport and driver refused to turn on the meter. Foul language and threats used by the driver. So much for a warm welcome to our Thailand.

Another couple of friends had issues all the time they spend in Bangkok. Even so that they said they don't want to come back to Thailand. Those rogue taxi drivers are spoiling it for all other drivers as well as the rest of the country. Actually they are traitors to their country Thailand as they damage the country reputation and make that some foreigners will not come here to spend their money anymore. Traitors to their country, that's what cheating taxis are!

  2. While I have no reason to doubt the veracity of the OP's story, posting pictures identifying the culprit seems pretty close to defamation.

And the fact that the OP has 2 posts, both on this thread, would make Thai Visa look pretty negligent if it came to a defamation suit.

Could just be a troll post simply to damage the guy's reputation.

You apparently don't take too many taxis. Although there are many good taxis there are also often scumbags driving them. We have no reason to believe this one is a troll.

  3. I think times have changed. Before painting our two story house on one rai which want to sell,we had to pay bt 10,000 to have it all just cleaned up. So we hate to think how much it would cost to paint it . So we are selling "as is" (Labour is now bt 400 to 500 a day ,we live 40km south of Hua Hin.) I long for the good old days when I paid Bt400 a month for staff up in the mountains near Chiangmai.

I long for the days we have again slaves... as long as I can enjoy my bottle of Champagne in my newly painted house it does not matter the labour can't even buy some rice from what I paid them for the job. Come on... don't be so disgusting selfish!

  4. Tried to call the Police but could not reach them?

    That happens so often here.

This shows how completely disfunctional and unfocussed the RTP is. Although they are extremely well versed in their corruption practices. I think it is time to strip them from the Royal predicament and just call them Thai Police. Then set up an new honorful force dedicated to do the work of "serve and protect" which is well paid and takes/asks no bribes. And call that new force Royal Thai Police.

  5. Check Morningstar Thailand website.

Aberdeen and Bualuang (Bangkok Bank) have both funds that over a longer period of time performed very well (about 15% over 10 years annualized)

A fixed deposit at the bank will currently give you between 2 and 3.5% per year.

Dont forget the Golden rule, if you care: 25% liquidity (short term deposits will do), 25% gold, 25% stocks, 25% real estate.

  6. Yes William it can be done. It is very feasible and you will not have leaking problems if properly done.

    Consider the following:

    - The existing tiles need to be well fixed. You can not do it on loose tiles

    - De-grease and Clean the existing tiles thoroughly. I recommend the import brand HG you can find at H pro.

    - Apply Tile GLUE (not cement) on the whole surface with the comb and let dry for 24 hours.

    - Tile on top.

Look for tutorials on google or you tube how to do proper tiling.

=> I recommend you buy the plastic spacing crosses at the DIY store. This will give you an almost impeccable result.

=> Another option you could consider is instead of using tiles on top of the tiles to use Linoleum - normally used for flooring - which you glue on the tiles.

  7. Someone must know the truth... If the truth is that the Police did a cover up then there is only one option for the "best of the Country". Arrest the Police who screwed up as well as their commanders and their Chiefs. Burn them down in public, give them the blame for the screw up and throw them in jail. Responsibility taken and image of Thailand cleared.

One thing for sure, blaming those poor Burmese scapegoats will not work.

  8. I guess the point of my post is to highlight how helpful and genuine the people can be with each other, even when a financial loss might be the result.

It's clear that the Thais involved have a clearer appreciation of market dynamics than you do.

Exactly what financial loss are you referring to?

That a particular customer might buy from the neighbouring stall, to their detriment?

    Rubbish!

    Clusters work!

Do you think that the retailers in Pantip hate each other because they're direct competitors and a sale to the neighbour is a forgone profit for them?

    They don't, because they're smart.

    .....

The people in the market you speak of clearly have the critical thinking processes to work this out.

You and others here clearly don't...

WHY are you so Bitchy Orpheus? You really seem to have a problem. You are a nasty piece and no... most of us dont like people like you.

  9. The exact address is: Soi Sukhumvit-Pattaya 50/1, Muang Pattaya, Amphoe Bang Lamung, Chang Wat Chon Buri 20150

A hell to find it, better ask a taxi motorbike from the Central Pattaya police station, they know it very well.

They asked me 1000 baht, but it is not clear what was it exactly. I think it is not by day, maybe it is a fixed amount period.

They also kept all my keys and given me only my scooter key.

No more apartment key, scooter security, back box, etc... I still don't understand why they are doing that.

That is rudiculous. They hace no right whatsoever to do that. Suggest you go back to the Police Station.
