  1. Hello,

I was considering to buy I-mobile phone. Do they usually offer good quality ones? Good camera and audio?

Generally I would prefer a small phone with a similar size to Iphone 4, great audio (via headset), great detailed photo taking with fast focus, IPS screen with high ppi, *must be* dual sim.

Can be android or maybe windows one, though I haven't experienced windows, so I guess Android is preferable.

  2. 2nd that. Don't call to True customer call center, as you can get a real solution on Thaivisa :).

So, what you do, is go to settings, and switch from Automatic to Manual. It will take about a minute or less to scan the available networks, after which you select the True network. Now your phone will never again roam on ETL and will always stay on True signal, even if the signal is weak.D

Please buy a beer to the guy who replied to you :)

  3. Thanks Sheryl,I agree with your suggestions. Will try to do that.

What is your opinion about http://www.patient.co.uk/doctor/delayed-puberty ? "However, short courses of sex hormones are an option if delayed growth and puberty are causing psychological distress. CDGP in girls: gradually increasing doses of oestrogen treatment, with cyclical progesterone therapy once adequate oestrogen levels have been achieved."

I just did a bit of research, and read that contraceptives indeed may delay the development and menstrual periods.

However, considering the quote above it might be that some contraceptives may actually do what she has in mind, depending on the specific ingredients?

She was also referring to taking a part of a pill, I think a half or one fourth.

Also I read that estrogen in form of ethinyl estradiol can be used for that purpose. However all contraceptives that got it contain as well another ingredient.

  4. My adopted daughter is 10 years old. She hasn't been menstruating yet. She got an idea of taking contraceptives in order to start menstruating and she would like her breasts to start growing. She is complaining that her chest is almost flat, which I think is perfectly normal for her age.

I read that small estrogen doses indeed may speed up development, however I would like to discourage her taking the contraceptives. I have no idea if she took them once, or taking them regularly.

    My questions:

    1) What is likely to happen if she took it once?

    2) What is likely to happen if she is taking it regularly?

    3) Is there anything like medicines or natural (including food supplements) that she may take or should I really try to discourage her? (Mind she is really stubborn.)

  5. Hello,

My passport is valid up to 4-feb-2015. I'm intending to travel to Laos, applying there for a Thai visa when my passport will still be valid for 6 months and then on 16 August (where my passport's validity will be about 5 months+, but less than 6 months) to enter Thailand.

Will that be any problem? Is there any regulation that when entering Thailand with a tourist visa the passport has to be valid for at least 6 month?

  6. Indeed, they are like bandits that are holding for ransom. The question is: Is there anything I could do about it?

For example, I have asked Fedex if they could re-route my shipment to Laos. They said - it is not possible, you have to import it first, pay all fees/duties and then export it. I wrote about it to the Thai customs information center. They replied: since the goods are in the warehouse of Fedex and hasn't been yet submitted to customs and as such are in not their custody they can be re-rerouted without any input from Thai customs and no fees to be paid. I forwarded this e-mail to Fedex and 2 hours later I get a new reply from Thai customs that says: We are sorry that we provided you not clear information and apologize for that. You do need to register for e-paperless Thai customs. 360 degree reverse.

My logic tells me, if the shipment hasn't been yet submitted to Thai customs and is not in their custody their first answer should has been right.

  7. I have got few bottles with colloidal silver and gel sent to me as free samples. The sender declared the silver water as "mineral water" and "gel" as "cosmetics".

I indeed payed nothing for it (to the sender) and they were sent to me free of charge via Fedex.

Fedex stopped my parcel and said: I need to pay about 1500 baht and get a license to import "cosmetics". <deleted>!? There are four small tubes for personal tubes for Chirst' sake.

I said ok, maybe the sender made a mistake declaring them as cosmetics. Can we redeclare it? They said ok, but even then I need to pay excise tax and I must send them my passport by EMS for e-paperless custom clearance! While there is a martial law in the country I'll send my passport away?!

  8. It is worth checking if you need to come to BKK at all. For example, Israeli embassy allows to send an old passport via EMS/DHL and will mail you back the canceled old passport and the new passport. You might want to give a call/e-mail to your Embassy and to ask if that is possible. I think they will be able to send you the necessary documents (like application for a new passport, consent form) attached to an e-mail.

  9. She was concerned that when her mother will pass inside Thailand, will it be registered that two people passed in? (And then she might be asked when exiting Thailand? Is it a valid concern?)

It is good to know that people under 15 do not pay oversay fines - does it matter if they travel on a passport of their parents, or even if they travel on their own passport they do not pay fines?

  10. I have got a company that sells colloidal silver to ship me their samples via Fedex. Some of them are water and some are a gel. On the gel it is written "cosmetic skin product - Helps promote natural healing". It got stopped by customs and they are asking me to pay because "importing cosmetic". I'm not sure how to proceed about it.

Should I claim that it is a natural/homeopathic medicine or they will charge me even more or deny it's entry? Or, it will be beneficial?

  11. My girlfriend would like her mother to bring her younger sister for a few weeks to Thailand. Her younger sister is 5 years old and she is written in 'paan deen' of her mother. (That is some sort of a document that allows Lao people to come to Thailand for visits up to 3 days.) She would like her mother to bring the younger sister and depart alone, and then to come back in 3 weeks and get her back. I'm not sure, would it be possible?

  12. Prostitution is mostly not abusive. How would you feel a woman after years of having sex with one man every day? Or sharing one man with 4 other wives if you are a Masai? Or being happy-go-lucky teenager in a western world changing bf every two months? Or being clad in black with only eyes visible as in some Muslim societies? Or being a wife to a poor husband in a Kenyan village of the beaten track - collecting firewood and water 1km away from your broken image of a house every day, having 6-8 kids with 2 who died from malaria/other diseases. (And those 6-8 are hungry and crying for food, everything is dirty, everyone wearing worn clothes with holes everywhere?)

Fun? Some girls are actually having fun.

The girls who are traumatized are mostly those who came into the prostitution at a young age and being forced. Though those cases are making headlines, they are normally localized to specific countries and probably hold less than 1% overall. Furthermore, we are not discussing it here. There are wives that being beaten by their husbands, it doesn't mean we should say that people shouldn't marry.

I think prostitution appeared there as soon as the idea of ownership has appeared. I'm not sure how people lived in caves before that, but I'm pretty sure "rape" was the replacement of prostitution, however it wasn't rape in our sense, because most probably the girls of that time even wouldn't think to say no. I believe they were very promiscuous. If you think that in pre-civilization time there was a free and pure love between one man and one woman - I would doubt it.

Agree, why to call it a curse?

Absolutely natural thing. It has been in this world since the days of creation. smile.png So like in Myanmar it's a curse, but in any other country in the world it's not. Hehe

Prostitution seems pretty d*** abusive to me. How might you feel as a woman after years of having sex with strangers every day? Like it was fun? Healthy? Good occupation?

A lot of these sweet seeming ladies just end up traumatized and hating men. If they ever do get married the chance for divorce is extremely high.

I figure if I can't find a lady I like and that likes me I probably need to look at my self-esteem and think about the harm I am doing getting laid for cash, no matter how mutually 'fun' it seems. Very deceptive stuff.

Finally, I don't think tribal people have a notion of prostitution as such. They have taboos, and undoubtedly break them (with consequences if caught), and concubines or polygamy are probably pretty common. It's only since 'civilization' began that prostitution began, and they have always been looked down upon, scorned, and even put to death at times by greater society. Don't fool yourselves.

I imagine the Thai situation for farang is a product of the Vietnam War. There will always be prostitution, and more Myanmar prostitutes will become available to foreigners, but it will never be like Pattaya (the one city I've never been to and never want to go).

  13. Here is the source: http://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-clampdown-coming-on-multiple-tourist-visa-runs-45216.php.

And, I can certainly confirm that 30 days is in effect. I have both seen the notice posted in banner size letters in front of Thai immigration and I was stampted 30 days in my passport too, might be by mistake or some unknown inner instructions, (I'm from Israel, not G7).

    <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

I would like to point out, that according to: "Now, however, Immigration has announced that anyone arriving in Thailand across a land border will receive only 15 days. This will not apply to the first arrival in Thailand, whether by land or air, but will apply for subsequent arrivals by road or rail."

first time arrivals from all visa-exempt countries will receive 30 days.

It is not clear however how 'first time entry' will be perceived: per life, per passport, etc. But it's safe to assume that it will be per passport.

When and where was this "announcement" made ?

Or is this just another example of misinformation ?

  14. Is there any Thai party or organization that working towards it's legalization in Thailand? I remember some 10 years ago we have had a political party in Israel called "Green flower". Their political platform was simple: to legalize it. They have nearly gotten into knesset.

I think if any party with a promise of legalizing mj, reducing punishment for using other drugs would be created in Thailand, perhaps could get more votes than red or yellow shirts. And, they would be called "green shirts".

Taking look around there are a very good number of Thais who might be using mj, yaba and perhaps other things. And to put things into perspective, they aren't necessarily bad guys. Most just tried because of peer pressure, seeing their friends do it. Then it hooks. BTW: Similar things can be said about the pushers. Of course all of this affects health, but are we born to live forever? Alcohol, cigarettes and even industrial poisons affects our health, but we don't have them arrested.

Also, moderation is another issue. I have seen people using yaabaa one time a month; even though it is a nasty drug, the effects on their health wouldn't be that huge probably. Using mj once a week or twice a week is not that bad too. Compare it with someone who is drinking alcohol everyday.

There are some other considerations of course.

  16. Hello,

My girlfriend is about 36-37 kg of weight. I have noticed, that when she is on the pill she is irritable. I would say, her behavior resembles that of pregnant girl. Like, "Honey, it's too cold switch off the air.. No, it's too hot, switch on the air." And it accompanies with her easily get really angry, even breaks things about small issues. When she is not on the pill, she hasn't got this kind of behavior.

She has switched the brands and types of the pills several times, seemingly the same.

    1) All medicines are dose-weight related. I would assume that pill was designed to ensure that woman who is 80+kg is protected. Perhaps she should be receiving 1/2 or even 1/3 of the dose? So, are there any pills with low dosage of the active ingredients?

    2) I have been to Watson and there are 3rd generations pills. I think she haven't tried them yet. They do look a bit expensive like 200-300 baht. Where could I buy generic versions of the 3rd generation?
