  1. Complaining to TCP can be done concurrent to waiting.

I'm amused a bit that you are so tolerant :). It seems you given up on photos too. But my inner feeling tells me you will get back your phone repaired before or on the day they have promised and your photos will be safe. However, do inform them that there is a content and if possible they won't perform a system reinitialization that would remove those dear photos from your trip.

  2. Writing a serious letter will cost you and so it's the second step. The first step is to simply threaten them will legal action, see if it will work.

    >I am going to ask for a new phone or money back. Which is the only fair and correct option in my >opinion.

I think you underdemand. You have to demand immediate issuance of a new HTC ONE because your phone stopped working just within two weeks and their repair service is seriously under-facilitated. AND let the technicians to open the broken one and to transfer you the photos. I see no reason why you should lose the photos, since its the display that stopped working and not the memory.

At the same time, maybe to read / post at some technical forum (wonder if there is a forum dedicated to HTC ONE) and to post the question of how to gain access via Bluetooth/USB to the HTC ONE in your situation.

On the broader view, initiating a legal action is a good idea, as it will not only benefit yourself, but will teach HTC a lesson that will result in their more responsible approach to customers particularly in Thailand. Probably to get a compensation for the ordeal and lose of photos.

As you have posted, on Thai forums there are many HTC ONE customers that experience the same situation, if the interested ones would join into one group and hire a lawyer..

(And you may also complain to

    Complaint Unit, TCP
The Telecommunication Consumer Protection , TCP at their e-mail:
I'm not sure if they are dealing with providers or the manufacturers as well. Once I complained regarding AIS that refused to refund me money for some issue and the result was that AIS refunded me even more than I was asking. I think though legal action is the best way, as it will most probably benefit yourself and other people.)
  3. Have been recently in Telewiz and saw three phones under their new AIS SuperCombo promotion.

Bought the Acer Z3 and trying to master it.

My question is, all the brochures about the SuperCombo are in Thai language and I couldn't find any English information on AIS site as well. Could someone help with it please?

  4. NickyMaster, feel bad for you.

I have read the breakdown of HTC One - http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/htc-one-almost-impossible-to-repair .

So I think the problem is not in Thailand, and not even entirely in HTC, but rather in the specific model HTC One. It seems a special machine is required and the repair process is overly time consuming.

My only suggestion would be is to threaten them with legal action. As I understand the phone broke by itself and is under warranty. Therefore it's their responsibility to fix it. I'm not sure about the 'fine script', does it state the maximum time of repair process?

Actually suing them might or might not be a good idea, however I think it will definitely help other users. If some people will sue them, they are likely to tackle the issue by outsourcing more people to fix their phones.

  5. I wanted to transfer amount about 5000$ USD to Thailand.

I would like to know what is the way which offers lowest commissions and best exchange rate, so that to minimize the losses.

From Israel for example we can transfer money using our Postal Bank via service called Eurogiro. So first of all I would like to know the opinion of the members here upon this service.

Other way I know is a SWIFT transfer. Actually Eurogiro seems to be using SWIFT for it's transfer, yet it offers to transfer cash, without the need for the sender to have a bank account. (http://www.eurogiro.com/index.php/services/cash-transfers)

However, I wouldn't like to limit the discussion to Eurogiro only. Other potentially good ways, like bank to bank using swift, using your credit card to withdraw from AOEN atms and so on.. So that the outcome of our discussion will be the most efficient method for sending amounts of 2000$+ USD to Thailand.

  6. Interest rate is also unfair issue. What is the reason that a foreigner cannot earn interest rate? Is his money is not as good as thai's :)?

In Philippines for example there will give interest for accounts opened by foreigners.

BTW: Lately they introduced 150pesos charge, which is roughly 110baht in local banks. Is there still some ATM in Philipines one can withdraw without this charge?

  7. MMS started as allegedly successful drug for Malaria in Africa.

I was in email contact with the guy who created MMS and also read his books.

The way he acts, it's seems like SPAM to me, but nevertheless, if the inventor is strange and acts strange that doesn't necessarily mean that his invention or MMS is not working.

It really needs to be more researched and if someone would give MMS to these doctors who are trying to treat the malaria cases which are not responding well to other drugs and if they would agree in some kind of way to administer it (I can foresee a lot of difficulties here) to the sick - that sounds interesting. Especially if other drugs are failing.

The prize is here. Since it may be diffuclt to patent MMS and therefore to get monetary profit for it, the only way here is to convince some researches to try it and if found being effective perhaps the researcher himself will get a lot of publicity. Many people wrote positive stories about MMS from their personal experience and perhaps they are not because of placebo effect.

I have never personally tried MMS nor had any of my close friends to try it. But it sounds really interesting to have kind of "all-cure" medicine around. Being advertised as "all-cure" medicine however also makes other to consider it's spam. Go figure :).

  8. So, the MED visa can be given once you are already inside the country and the duration will depend on doctors recommendation verified by immigration doctor? Or does it has a fixed number of months?

Where can I find more information about that?

    However, the extension sounds interesting:

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/post-a70477-.html

    2.25, page 13.

2.25 In the case of medical

treatment or convalescence or to look after a patient:

Permission will be granted for a period of not more than 90 days at a time.

    (1) Confirmation and request has been made by a physician

responsible for the treatment. The Physician must describe the details of treatment and advised that the illness is a barrier for traveling.

So it means that it doesn't matter whether you entered on 15, 30 days stamp or on visa, they will simply give you extension based on the medical recommendation up to 3 months at a time at the price of 1,900 baht.

So, even if he currently has an extension of 1 month which is the last and only extension in normal circumstances he will still be allowed additional extension due to his medical condition.

Is that correct and as simple as that or there are some "underwater stones" as it may happen sometimes in Thailand?

    Thanks

  9. My friend needs to perform operation for hernia. He entered on tourist visa and extended it for one month. After the operation he will still have about 6 days left. However, after operation it's necessary to have a full rest for two weeks and yet another month rehabilitation - he will not be able to carry his backpack, so technically he will need to extend his stay for at least 1 and half months, and this considering the outcome of the operation is good.

He cannot postphone the operation, because hernia should be treated as soon as possible.

What can he do in this case with immigration? Further extensions? Costs? Emergency extension? How to apply?

    Thanks

  10. Hmmm bought a Coby portable dvd player from a stall vendour and its been working for 3yrs!! :o:D :D

Yes, I heard about Coby. They manufacture durable players. The only problem is that all of their portable models are with built-in screen. I don't need the screen, just adds to the weight, I rather connect it to TV only.

  11. This is a reply I received from Central Center Pattaya. As I expected they knew that this shop sells sub-standard products :o.

I know, that would my case be a single, it doesn't have a chance to be resolved. But since Central Center says that I'm not the only one who complained, isn't it possible for the police to request their registration data from City Hall and approach them in their current address?

Referring to your conversation with our call center staff. We regret about our service that made you disappointed and would like to inform you that we try to solved your problem .

But now the kiosk which you bought DVD has been moved out from Central Center Pattaya since 30/9/2550 beacuse of under standard products they sold .

We try to call the shop owner many times but we can't contact him because he changed his telephone number and we don' t have any more information to reach him.

Please accept our apologize, and we hope to see you're still our good customer .

    Thank you

  12. Hello,

I think it's unique move and the guys who will mostly suffer are backpackers who would like to spend 1m in Thai, then 3 weeks in Cambo and return for 1m in Thai.

Also, this 15 days by road/30 days by plane rule just says: You are poor - you get 15 days, you are rich to allow yourself to fly - you get 30 days. Not really fair and it shouldn't be done this way.

I have another suggestion, if "visa-runners" is what bothers immigration they should implement a rule, whereby if you re-entered and stayed in the neightboring country for less then 5 days, then you get 15 days, but if you stayed for more than 5 days you will get 30 days.

This way they will target only "visa-runners" who spend only few hours or less across the border and coming back to Thailand. Yet it will not affect backpacker's or any other traveler as normally they will visit neighboring countries and stay longer than 5 days.

  13. Well, if anyplace would have such stuff, it would have to be Facino Pharmacy on North Pattaya Road, the GNC at Tops Market on Central Road, or the pharmacy at Carrefour 2nd floor has a decent selection of vitamins and supplements.

I was also told about Facino Pharmacy, perhaps if someone could check there and let us know.

I checked GNC in Tops, they don't have.

About Carrefour, I don't rememeber, I think i checked there, but would someone check it again, just to make sure.

  14. Well, if I let it go, then more guys will fall victims to these kinds of scam.

Perhaps that's why this shop now is gone, because of guys like me were complaining. Would noone complain they would continue to stay and scam the people until now.

Many people who replied miss one thing, there is no connection between one year warranty and the fact that they sold a USED, counterfeit product disguised as a NEW, ORIGINAL DVD player. The warranty period is only for repairing.

About having no evidence, I agree that it makes it difficult. But it would have been difficult for me to carry around dead DVD for 1.5 years I was traveling in Phil around. I just threw it, kept the receipt and hoped I can complain when I come back to Thai.

I didn't buy it from a cheap shop.

I bought it from Central Festival, where BIG C is located, I supposed they don't allow street vendors to sell there. And I payed more than the price on the street precisely because I thought I'm buying from a reputable source and it was ok for me to pay a little bit more in order to get a better service and better quality of a product.

As about Phil tech shop, they opened the DVD in front of me. All the chips inside had their names removed by a file. Some wires were attached from one board to the other which is done when someone usually repairs.

I assume, nevertheless, that since the shop was thrown away from Central Festival, the management there aware of the way that shop was dealing. So, I guess they have received complains similar to mine. The problem is, they don't want to take the responsibility. That's really disputable, should they be responsible for the shops located in their area? I think they should, because people are going to the malls precisely because they don't want to buy in a street shop. Street shop is here today and may have gone by tomorrow. But now I don't really see much of a difference.

It's just that the street has no "Customer Service" written there. In Central Festival there is. But what is the difference between having no "Customer Service" and having "Customer Service" which doesn't reply at all? I guess not much of a difference.

  15. Hello,

More than one year ago I bought DVD player in Central Festival where BIGC is located in Soi 2.

I took it with me when I flew to Philippines and after 7 days of work it stopped working.

The tech opened it and I saw that it had been repaired before, and more strange, all the chips had their names removed by file. Therefore rendering impossible to repair.

    I threw it away.

After staying in Philippines for more than a year, I flew back to Thai and went to Central Festival shop to complain in their customer service. They said they will return me a call, I talked to a manager, but later on they said they they WILL NOT give me a feedback to my complain.

I went to Thai Police on Soi 9 to file a case of Distributing (Or helping to) counterfeit goods. There were two foreign guys sitting there and they said to the Thai policeman who suppose to write a report that they find no merit in making the report since no crime was commited and I should use my sense when I buy things. And that one year of warranty had been expired. I countred it by saying that one year warranty has no connection that they sold me old fake reworked DVD as a new original DVD and I couldn't know it's old and counterfeit until I opened it in the Philippines. And it was precisily that I went to Central Festival to buy DVD because I thought I can buy there quality stuff.

That foreign guy became angry and said: "You are becoming a nuisance here. If you will not leave right now I'll get you detained".

Therefore I left with few questions. What are the foreign guys doing there in the police station, they told me they are not part of tourist police? Whom can I complain on acts of ordinary police, because it was clear to me that if I'll ask to talk to station commander about the remarks of the foreign policeman/volunteer they will just defend him and I indeed can get myself into troubles. It is clear to me that what he did is treatening me on personal grounds while abusing his authority.

Do I have a right to file a case in police against Central Festival whereby the shop who sold me the DVD is only used to rent there space and is not located there anymore? Is there any office under Ministry of Internal Affairs which investigates abuse by policemen?

And, finally any ideas how can I get my 2500 baht refunded?

  16. Ditto.....same question.....anywhere in Bangkok?

    CHEERS!

    D

    Hehe.

If I'll get more replies like this, I'll open my own shop of Food Supplement products :o.

In Philippines, it was so easy. You go to SM or Ayala mall in Cebu and you have wide range of products, including 5-htp, St. John's Wort and what's not.

It's really wonderful that there is no such shop in Thailand, especially in Pattaya, whereby many foreigners use wide range of Food Supplements.

  17. Hello,

There is a very useful Food Supplement called 5-htp. It's precursor to serotonin and used worldwide as a mild mood stabilizer. It really works well for me.

Could someone suggest me where I can buy it in Pattaya or if not avail in Pattaya, elsewhere in Thailand.

    Thank you.

  18. Hello,

It's been a while I'd been to Thailand. It seems visa to LAOS gone up to 35$ from 30$, entry to Mnyanmar to 10$ from 5$, Cambodia is still at 20$.

    1) Now, is there still no possibility to travel on land from Mae Sot or other Mnyanmar/Thai borders into Yangoon?

    2) How from Pattaya I can get to Poipet? I mean one way to the border. I don't need a visa run, well, actually I do, but I would like to stay in Cambodia for a month.

Explanation: I know that I can go first to BKK, but looking at the map I see that I can shortcut from Pattaya to somewhere and then to Aranyapatet? Or should I go to Si Racha or Chachoangsao and then where?

    3) How is the road from Pailin to Poipet? And from Pailin to Battambang?

  19. You come to Ranong, Thailand. While in Ranong you should arrive at Immigration which is about 3km out of town towards Sanaplaa. At the Immigration you will get exit stamp and a small piece of paper attached to your passport. Afterwards continue driving on on the same road 500m towards the pier.

At the pier you pay 30-50 baht for a boat one way, depending on your baragaining skills. It takes about 15 minutes for the boat to reach Thailand checkpoint on some small island. You or the boat "captain" will show your passport with exit stamp to the officials. They will put another exit stamp on the small piece of paper which is inside your passport.

The boat will continue it's way (about 25min) to the Burma Immigration. Within 2 minutes and for a payment of 5$ they will issue 3 days "visa" stamp.
