I wonder how many Taxi drivers refuse fares in BKK and how much potential baht they fail to make. I know that in BKK on many occasion if you don't have exact change they will gladly withhold it. I understand they may not make so much money but you cannot only blame it on the low fares. The drivers must accept some of the responsibility.
We were driving in and around central BKK today. Wifey was driving so I was free to observe. I noticed several taxis stop, blocking traffic, and then refuse to take the people. All the customers were Thai.
This was around Siam. Cenrtal World, Platinum and Wireless Road at different times of the day.
Last week four refused me and two refused Mrs. BB.
It's getting worse than I ever seen it.
+1 re the part about it getting worse. It seems to be deteriorating BY THE DAY! I remember the problem wasn't so bad and that was just what... two to three years ago? I used to tell people that being refused is an exception, but it's becoming the norm now. How the hell are they supposed to make money when they refuse fares? Once, a taxi refused to take me from Suk-11 (yup, ground zero for these idiots, in my book)... then he drove into and sat in a traffic jam on Sukhumvit road. And all I wanted to do was go to Suk 24!!! Now if he had taken me, wouldn't he at least earn some bahts while burning precious fuel sitting in the traffic? I am realy, honestly curious about the reason behind this strange phenomenon particularly on Suk-11. Anyone here has some insights?

Will there be a centre on Koh Tao?

74 percent of the tourists did not doubt the investigation into the murders... really.

"I am committed to do good things and create understanding with people and am determined to solve problems."
When will that start, General Sir?

Ah... but it's safe to breathe hydrogen sulfite.

Thailand wants this, Thailand wants that.

What sort of 'authority' is this? Taking a reading to confirm there exists harmful gases, but does nothing to solve the situation i.e. shut the place down and get the problem fixed? And people blame the lot here for being cynical and bash LOS at every opportunity.

The poor crew - over half were injured (14 out of 25).
And I thought the Airbus 380 was so big it must be more stable .... wrong.
Another way of looking at it is, lucky it was an A380. Imagine if it had been an A320. Or an even smaller craft... *shudders*

And who owns the phone that sent the messages???
I am pretty sure the technology exists for a simple trace. The bigger question is, will it be used at all???

"it will not bring good things to Earthlings and Bangkokians". No worries then. If you're from the north, Isaan or south, you'll be OK. This nutjob is nuttier than my fully-crunchy peanut butter.

You need to conduct a survey to find out the obvious? What a waste of time and money.

Urged? No crackdowns?

Not so nice when the boot is on another foot eh

I don't think the thai police have the brains to play this game with the British. They will shoot themselves in the foot with every answer they give, every excuse/piece of evidence they produce & they won't even know they've done it until the British inquest is complete.
I don't think the Thai police have the brains. You should have stopped just there... LOL

Wow... now he's represnting Asia, not just Southeast Asia, but ASIA! Which includes countries like Japan, Korea and China, to name a few. I'm sure these and other Asian countries will be very thankful to the good general for paving the way forward.

Chawalit, since all beaches are public property and cannot be owned or rented out to private citizens, what else is there to sort out? Which area is owned by a smaller 'boss', and target that one first for some media-photography sessions?
As for the junta showing little patience for corrupt politicians and 'influential' private figures, never mind whether they are encroaching anywhere or not... hmm... really? Seems like 'little patience' is actually a 10 km-long BACKUP fuse to a non-existent dummy bomb.

Question, dear RTP Chief. What are the measures? Or is this another round of RTP hot air?
Two, I'm sure the Suk-11 taxi-morons's refusal to take passengers are well documented. So, 'several cases in tourism areas' is a bit of an understatement, and then some. So, the 'dispatched several coppers to investigate' line doesn't fly anymore. Get in there and solve the problem. Quite faffing about. Or stop talking.

Simply put.....the honeymoon is over......
When the General left Thailand he asked people to 'look after the country for him'.
What is Thailand...his pet dog?
The same way some prison officers asked inmates to monitor other inmates. Only in Thailand.

Thailand has SCREENED TRAVELLERS??? Come on you bozos.
I landed in BKK mid last month, the scanning area was just before passport control. Passengers were walking two- and even three-abreast past the scanners. Now I could be wrong, but can the scanner scan three people abreast? Secondly, the operators were just paying scant attention to whatever they were looking at behind the camera. Very laid-back. Relaxed. Sabai-sabai. Do these morons know how important their jobs are?
Seriously I sometimes do wonder how is it this place is still up and running.

Everyone is unhappy? I thought everyone was actually HAPPY? Hmm...
And what's this coming from a PM... talking about arguments with his wife, blah blah blah? Stick to the agenda General Sir, no need to add drama to the equation.
Enjoy Europe :-)

I know many people here, including myself, have said this many times. And I won't apologise for saying it again - what has changed, apart from the disappearance of some street vendors and reclaiming (albeit temporarilty) some beach-front real estate?
This is yet another case of 'the law is for everyone, while we have a different set of laws'. How is this different from the previous administrations? Ok some of you will reply and say that at least the previous administrations were 'democratically' appointed. Ok, I'll give you that - not about to launch into a debate on that particular issue. Be that as it may, and despite the blue-sky-and-everything-nice promises and the teary-eyed-vows to reunite the country and make it a happy one again, what has changed?
