My Wife will start to rent out a property ,she is not registered to pay tax ,so that will be first thing to do right ? So I suppose tax will be due after one year of rental and it's 15 % ,is that correct ? can you deduct maintenance expenses from tax due , like servicing A/c ,any repairs , any other advice will be welcome thanks Countryman

When I first moved here 30 odd years ago ,you had to get a tax clearance before you were allowed to leave the country , it was a farce ,only ever had to pay more than 500 Baht , the lady doing the assessment was more interested in asking me to bring her some knickers and bras from my overseas trip.

Just last week we had a group of people in the Moo Bahn ,with cameras and clipboards, the wife asked them what they were up too , measuring for land taxes ,we have never been asked or paid any taxes on our properties , either at this Moo Bahn or others where we have property , so looks like the new Government may be trying to claw some taxes in from property owners and Farangs bringing earnings into Thailand , to pay for the proposed 10 k wallet scheme .....
