  1. what annoyed me as I drove back from the office to Mabprachan through the back roads trying to elevate to higher and higher roads, are all the people with their stupid big trucks, especially the monster ones that are the fashion these days who were pussyfooting around and scared of going through an inch of water. Lost count of the number of times I had to stop in 12 inches of water for a few minutes whilst some guy in a huge big truck looked around all worried even though a vios had just gone through the water no problems at all.

  2. Songthews are so cheap. They have been so low for so long. With the price of gasoline I'm surprised that they aren't charging 50 baht.

I believe if I was A Songthew driver I would charge farangs more simply for the reason most of them have more money than

The average thai and can afford it.

Wash your mouth out with soap! There are poor farangs around here who get mortally offended by 5 baht! Hope the OP doesn't go to any tourist attraction where he would be paying 200-300% more than the locals for the audacity of not looking like an Asian dude.

  3. What part of it's not about the money don't you understand? If you don't live on principles then so be it, move on please.

Personally I don't appreciate being taken, no matter how small. And yes I chose to walk away.

The original post only asked if the fares had gone up, nothing more.

It's not about the money, it's about the principle.

principle over 5 baht? Indignation might be best kept tucked away for 5 baht- people have been beaten and shot for 5 baht here no doubt.

Well I do, but for 5 baht I would let it slide. Not worth getting a bat to the head for 5 baht.

    This type of thing?

Problem with Microwaving an egg in the shell is that the microwaves penetrate about 3 cm and thats where the actions takes place with the heat radiating in and outwards at the same time. All these devices do is add a shield that does not allow the waves to penetrate the eggs, which also heats up passing that ambient heat to the egg which mimicks it being boiled. Rapid heating of pockets of the unprotected egg will caused it to explode.

You can try above Friendship - they usually stock this type of stuff. Also, Hardware Warehouse on the 36 rd towards Rayong or on route 7 - full of plastic crap like this but boiled eggs are not very Thai.

So it you are going to persist in this route, what I would suggest is a tin curry container like this...

    stock-photo-indian-chicken-curry-in-take

.... cut down to the size of an egg. Pop the egg inside it, and then in a plastic microwave box with a bit of water in it, and experiment away. (Those foil containers are completely safe in a microwave by the way... before others say they are not).

Failing this, get a mug, fill with water, heat that up (stir it every 30 seconds though) then pop egg in the water, heat for another couple of minutes and then take out and leave in the water. If you do not stir the water as you heat it in the microwave it can get pockets of superheated water which will explode into your face when you drop the egg in.

Third option - pop the eggs in your rice cooker. Easiest of the lot - its what we do.

  5. The OP needs to clarify if he is actually talking about ping pong shows or not. The original threads seems to be. As Thunderbirds20 states, gogo shows is printed receipt in a cup and very easy to count that yourself and check what goes in there with no problems.

  6. If you are talking about the "risque" shows, then they are not really con jobs but applying a cover charge (but without the forsight of letting you know). If you go in, tip the performers well, buy more than a single token drink each, buy the mamasans a drink, your bill will pretty much be as it should be. The people who get stung are those who go in, drink a drink each, watch the shows with no tipping and try to leave for only 200 baht bin. This is especially the case when you are with a farang lady /ladies who turn their nose up at the performers.

Look to spend 1000 baht a head and spend some time there being friendly and enthusiastic with tipping and you will be OK. Be cheap trying to use their bar to tick off the holiday "must do" list and you will pay the same amount anyway, but in a lot different circumstances.

  7. They have finished their work on the reservoir and it is filling up again now (has been for the last month). Its still about 2 mtrs down, but the dragon boat competition is soon so that will be the target date I guess for it to be almost full.

  8. Now I am not quite sure, but I think that has to be, on balance, the worst most amateur, useless, pile of tosh of a video I have ever had the misfortune to skim through. Acting is woeful as well

    Why did you share it?

  9. .... saw it in Friendship today and in Big C Pattaya Klang yesterday. Seriously - it is everywhere. I think the OP is looking for the wrong thing. Most common type is as seen in the picture posted above. 35 baht or so - every supermarket I have popped into has it, loitering around the Flour section.

  10. Getting that feeling as well. Another thread asking is schools are OK for kids and if they get bullied.

Come on OP - give us more details as there is a chance that the thread might start harassing you as well :)

  11. Thais or other Farangs "harassing" you? Makes a big difference. Also, why are they targetting you? What's the full story?

Finally, a Lawyer will take your money and do nothing because there is nothing they can do. Speaking Malice - might be defamation, and that means you would walk into the police station with 500 baht, and make a formal complaint.

    Just seen your other topic;

"1. What are the Laws in Thailand about Cyberbulling, or Civil rights?

    2. What are the Laws in Thailand about Harassment or Intimidation?

    3. What are the Laws in Thailand about spreading Malice lies or rumors?

    4. And what kind of evidence do you need?

    5. This can be about Civil rights or the Law, and is there any Organization that deal with this?"

If it is online and you know who it is, then this is defamation. Take your evidence to the police, fill in the form, and they will deal with it. It doesn't matter if what they say is true or not, only that they said bad things publicly about you.

  12. Sell up and leave. It is the only option. Try to sell to a Thai if you can, only showing the property in the morning before the cop start that party.

The only other option you have is to bypass the corrupt city hall and cops and get a Thai to go straight to the Navy dudes. Check out some news articles where one of their local officers is mentioned and get someone to complain to him. No love lost at all between the cops here and the Navy and they seem to be playing tit for tat raids on each others venues over the last few months.

  13. Big C usually have it - that's where I buy mine. I use it for a cheap quick solve for heart burn! 35 baht for a bag of the stuff. It is sold in a pouch.

    It looks like this.

  14. Might not have been the ice. I was hit by a horrendous dose on Thursday and only just recovering now with my guts still aching. Chronic lack of hygiene with relation to any food production in Thailand is the usual cause with simple points such as washing hands after going to the toilet being the culprit. I got it from Oishi delivery (curry rice and a side) that I had delivered on Thursday to the office after the staff group ordered and I thought I would join in.

  15. I need to have a staff xmas party. Well, say need, I want to and they are going to go as well whether they like it or not. Money not as much a priority as a good feast, nice lively festive environment, where we would not look out of place dressed up a bit. Xmas eve or before - anyone know of something like this in Pattaya this year?

I don't like repeating myself, or sounding like I'm plugging a particular joint, but Jameson's fits your needs perfectly.

But you will need to book now.

Yeah I starting to think that too. Will go and have a look over the weekend. They would not be interested in some of the racier options, and that might just be interesting. Thanks.

  16. Are you really living in Thailand? There is no Xmas here as such.

Give the laws a great Thai Smile tour and forget about that obligate stuff.

You don't read so good do you. Its my idea, we've had a good year, and I want to celebrate. Last year the Marriott had an xmas eve gala, but cannot see details of it anywhere so just asking.
