If the bank is aware you have passed on they will freeze the account. Someone may be charged with theft???? for using the card.
A will is the only way.
I went to Bangkok bank today..I was interested in daily limit and about if it was possible to name a beneficiary. 50,000 daily limit..with an exception with a call you can get 200,000. They recommended a will and my lawyer agreed.3000 baht for the will.
Thanks to all for their input.
BTW I only have a bank account everything else is already in my girl's name. She is the joy of my life we have been together 14 years.

Can not be in joint account for immigration purposes.

For what it's worth, that suggestion would be how I would do it also.
Another option would be to have the family member listed as an official signatory, which should be possible with most Thai banks. There was a very recent topic about this.
The account can only be in your name only for immigration purposes.

My account is with Bangkok Bank. The account is in my name and my name only. At Bangkok Bank I signed that account over to my wife when I go to the BBQ. All she has to do is present the BBQ certificate to the Bangkok Bank and that account is hers. No lawyer is needed.
Maybe because it is your wife? I will check with Bangkok Bank to see if I can do the same..thanks.

Discussion with who of competence? Your barstool friends?
Been reading almost all threads about this and the Visa experts on Thaivisa - like Ubonjoe - all say that nothing is clear and in writing at present.
Sorry that I trust them more than you.

I was told 2 months if it is your first time to use the deposit method

as i understand, you really need the will. as noted by another, the account can be frozen upon your death. i've been looking into this and got quotes ranging from 40,000thb to 5,000thb. i told the firm with the 40,000thb quote that i was only listing two bank accounts, nothing complex. but they stuck to their price. so i'm now working with the person who quoted 5,000thb. i'm trying to determine who i should use as an executor as i don't want the beneficiary to know they are getting the money upon my death. if i wanted them to know, i'd have the executor and beneficiary as the same person. unfortunately, you can't just list a beneficiary name with your bank (like i do in USA). i was also told i could do the will myself, get it translated, and file it with my local amphur for a cost of 15thb (not counting the cost to translate).
Thank you Sir..for an intelligent response

After a discussion yesterday it is clear there is no option to use a monthly option. The only way to satisfy immigration is to make the deposit and park it for 3 months.
Keep in mind things may change but right now get a Thai bank account under your name and begin the process of depositing monies!
I for one hope that there will be an option to satisfy a monthly option.

So after you are dead and burned your account will live on?
-
Along that line how does one pass on the 800,000 if the XPAT passes on?
Beneficiary possible on the bank account?
or
Do we need to get to a lawyer and get a will?

Ok as usual Beer Chang has taken over this thread so I will sign out..UGH!

That is clearly false the combination method is clearly stated as one of the options.
-
Keep in mind for those who need to renew in July they will need to put their funds together by April not that far off!

I want to thank those that have had constructed some good responses.
I totally agree that an answer now from Immigration is no guarantee what the facts will be in the second half of 2019.
Issues include:
Will immigration honor the combo method?
Do you have to prove that the funds are coming from a foreign bank?
Must the funds over the pension amount be seasoned for 3 months?
Must you show the previous 12 months of pension payments?
Will all immigration offices follow the same rules?
Will Immigration change the rules?
I am sure there are more issues but these are the ones I am concerned with now.
THANKS TO EVERYONE AGAIN.

To say the instructions are simple shows your inexperience with Thailand.

Thank you but I am beyond the 6 months.
My girl has just called Immigration here in Khorat she was told they dont care where the money comes from as long as it meets the requirements.
-
Since there is no more Embassy letter I dont see that working.
-
I would like to communicate with someone actually using this method.
PLEASE if you don't use this method DO NOT REPLY!
Funds deposited in the THAI bank.
1>Must they come from a foreign bank with documentation if so what is the documentation?
2>Must you show the pension portion for the previous 12 months?
3>If the funds are brought over thru an ATM then deposited does that meet the requirement?
4> Must the deposit of the additional funds over the pension amount need to be seasoned for 3 months?
My situation:
I use the ATM to take my pension then deposit in Bangkok Bank I have documentation from my USA bank that the pension funds were withdrawn. Will that be accepted?
If I sell my Motorcycle can I place those funds in the THAI bank to meet the amount over my pension?
Thank you so much

Is there anyone out there that is using a combination of pension and deposit to get to the 800,000 baht requirement?
Thank you

How much do you think Thai Banks will love no more income letters
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
OK 36% of what total number? Would love to know the answer to that question.
If we assume approximately 25,000 USD for everyone of those 36%, lets do some quick math.
1000 EXPATS would be 25 Million USD
10000 EXPATS would be 250 Million USD
my point in starting this thread was The Thai banks have to love this change!
