  1. 700k cover - absurd. 'Light version' - sad, like a low alcohol beer.
  2. Would be interested to see his comments although I doubt he'll say anything positive about a cheap charlie who undercuts the mainstream insurers. For my part I just want entry with the least cost even though I'll be driving around Issarn over Songkran, which in itself raises my risk profile and thus increases the viability for the non-covid part of AXA's insurance package. I suspect the pickup I hire will come with comprehensive insurance which might, through dual insurance, jeopardize my position in the event of a claim.
  3. Personally I've never bothered with insurance as I've always self-insured. Now I'm over 60 and having never made a claim (against myself) I must be up six figures. As long as the insurance is good enough for entry then that's all I need. Still unsure just because the premiums are so different (THB650 vs THB2,200). I mean, you try googling USD20,000 covid only insurance Thailand. Noone wants to quote, they just want to flog you a whole load of extras.
  4. AXA and others are creaming off in excess of THB2,000 for mandatory covid insurance (30 days) but on tp.consular.go.th, the Thailand Pass website, scroll down and under 'Recommended Medical Insurance...' there is USD20,000 30 day covid cover available from TQM for THB650! Can anyone comment on this please.
  5. Strangely it doesn't work on Google Chrome but it does work on Firefox and on an iphone. Can anyone explain?
  6. For those staying longer than 30 days it seems unnecessary to try to reduce the period of insurance as the requirement seems to be for general medical cover, not necessarily covid cover, for the initial 30 days. This from the TAT director general. After all, if you test positive you will only need to do 10 days in a hospital and possibly 14 days quarantine afterwards so a 30 day policy would cover.
  7. I've tried to register five times in the last 24 hours and on each occasion I can't even initiate my submission, just get 'application error - a client side exception has occurred'. But the information I've given is perfectly normal. Can anyone explain this or give a solution?
  8. At what stage during the process did you apply for your visa, what type of visa did you apply for and how long did that take?
  9. I was basing insurance costs on AXA's prices who seem to be the yardstick. I did try UK companies but found them to be more expensive. I think salerno mentioned All Clear Travel Insurance @ GBP145/year but I found them much more than that when I enquired. Meanwhile do you suppose immigration would give a 30 day visa exempt even with a return air ticket for 3 months from date of entry? I can't remember if they look at the air ticket when you enter the country.
  10. Given the insurance cost is about THB2000 pcm, there could be a THB4,000 insurance saving if entering with a 30 day rather than a 3 month visa. If, as you say, the rules are the same as for COE then you'd want to avoid the visa route. But the 3 month ticket dates would imply the 30 day insurance is insufficient.
  11. How much attention does the TP process/Thai immigration pay to the length of the insurance policy vs. the return ticket date? If going for three months but entering with a 30 day stamp on arrival, or even a 3 month visa for that matter, would 30 day insurance suffice?
  12. This is very helpful and thank you for the website. In the meantime there are a couple of things I'm still not clear about. When do I buy the air ticket? Now or after I have made the application? What about the ticket's validity? Also there is the question of health insurance? Thank you.
  13. Thank you. It seems any of the tourist visas would not suit if the borders are closed. So in the first case that would be 90 days + 60 day extension (=150 days total)? In the second case you are saying 90 days then extend at Immigration upon showing bank books. What is the financial requirement to get the initial 90 days because my bank books have not been updated for almost three years, having not been to Thailand due to the lockdown.
  14. I'm in the position that my Thai wife and I want to visit Thailand for a period of 3-6 months from February 2022. I'm not sure whether to EITHER enter without any visa and sort something out at Immigration in Bangkok OR apply for a 60 day single entry tourist visa then extend it, at about 90 days leave at a border and immediately re-enter on a new tourist visa (still allowed?) OR apply for a 6 month multiple entry tourist visa and refresh it at border points such as Aranyaprathet or Pedang Besar (also don't know if this is still allowed) OR enter on a 90 day single entry non-immigrant visa OR select another method. I have >THB 800k in Thai bank accounts in my name although the bank books have not been updated since January 2018. I could probably get the Thai banks to email statements but not sure if this would be acceptable. Sufficient funds also in UK bank accounts, have Thai house papers and a Thai marriage certificate. Also not sure about health/covid insurance. Is this a requirement and does anyone have details of a Thai insurance company providing this? Is it required with the application or is the insurance certificate shown at immigration upon arrival? We have both been double vaccinated. On the question of flights, do these need to be booked before or after the application and is a return booking needed or can it be an open return? Sorry to ask so many questions but I cannot find definitive answers online. Answers to one or more questions would be much appreciated. Thank you!
  15. What's new? Everyone's walking around with a gun in their pocket in Thailand.
