Thailand should have tested and quarantined everybody entering the country like Australia, New Zealand and many others.

More than 2,650 people were allowed off the Ruby Princess without being tested.

It led to 28 death This was the PM of Australia in who allowed his religious nutter friends leave the Ruby Princess without so much as a "don't forget your suitcase".
I do hear what you are saying though, after THAT Australia has done a pretty good job

Sure sigh how aggressive alcohol makes some people

Alcohol takes away your inhibitions, aka, if you are normally a funny happy person, when drunk you tend to be happier and funnier, but if you are normally a sour individual and aggressive these are the people to start fights in pubs when drunk and are no fun to be around at all.  There have been clinical experiments about this.  Alcohol can remove your inhibitions...great for some, bloody horrendous for others

The reported number of deaths in China does look incredibly low compared to other countries given that it was the original epicenter of the CV-19 outbreak.. Italy, Spain, US, France has more deaths than China.

I know people here have probably said it all before, but I'll just say this again.  "FACE".  As a young boy growing up with a mother who majored in Asian Studies, taught Indonesian for years and sponsored students from Indonesia in our home, it's all about "Losing Face".  If those at the top admit to making a mistake they are gone.  Scapegoats the lot of them, publicly crucified to appease the masses.  So, they just lie and the lies are just accepted as part of their culture.  Unfortunately (for them) a lot of Asians are now being educated in Western Schools, Universities etc and they have become whistle blowers on their aging political hierarchy and culture a slow but evolving process.  Their future lies with the younger generation, the internet will eventually help (it's why the Chinese try to ban certain sites, god forbid the younger generation learn about the propaganda a lies spread by their Govt).
So at the moment anything coming out of an Asian country about that I take with a grain of salt so to speak.  Science and fact however rarely lie, the truth will out over time.
All I can add is, stay safe people, it's a mess out there at the moment, because someone ate a bat....

On Australian news.  Absolute tragedy and she was so young and beautiful.  There should be a law that you must posses a licence to hire a jet ski,  motor bike etc.  I know you must have on in Australia but I guess that money comes before lives in Thailand.

Sadly, I think we already live in a world with more laws than you can shake a stick at.  I'd like to see less laws.  It's one thing I like about coming here to Thailand.  Common sense is the law that should prevail.  Laws in Australia are "over the top" IMHO.  This is a tragic story of misadventure and no laws governing the use of Jet Ski's would have stopped this.  However introducing laws will just put more red tap and hurdles to jump over to do something simple and have fun.  I've been riding motorbikes since I was 17 years old.  Thankfully I'm still alive today and I can tell you that having a license to ride a bike is not going to save anyone's life.  Nor are speed limits.  Common sense and good safe riding is what will keep you safe.  RIP young lady, died doing something you loved while with someone you loved.

second thing 3 on a Scooby, on a highway.

Sadly, what was the tuk tuk doing on the HWY?  Someone was impatient, I could be very wrong but I'm thinking the truck cleaned up the girls from behind trying to overtake everyone!  Patience on the road is something you don't often see in Thailand.  If the tuk tuk wasn't there they'd probably all still be alive...

  6. It's the five on a motorbike with NO LIGHTS on the WRONG side of the road AT NIGHT that freaks me out.  I was parked one night at a local food stall, looked behind in the rear vision mirror (because that's where the traffic comes from right?), nothing coming, so indicated pulled out and missed a family of five on a motorbike down my right hand side, on the wrong side of the road at night.  Never saw him coming, no street lights.  Crazy stuff...

  7. I don't think it's any different in any country anywhere in the world.  Australia is no different.  Some, not all, but a very vocal and noisy majority, whinge about Australia, it's people and it's laws.  Let them whinge I say, because they don't care about me and I don't care about them, and there are more of me than there are of them.  Nothing to see here.  Move along please.....

    Note to Yoram.

Avoid riding a bicycle or motorcycle if you are in a busy urban area. Avoid Thai buses if you are worried about dozy drivers. Take the train where available but be aware they derail when attacked by trucks at crossings. Taxis can be safe providing the driver is unarmed and sober and willing to go to your destination.. Flying from Bangkok to Pattaya would seem to be expensive, best to drive or hire a car. Otherwise remain safely at home.

you can fly to Pattaya now??

  9. Can the driver be charged with murder as they deliberately drove through the red light?

Manslaughter perhaps, as murder shows premeditated intent, but yet, I agree, this driver should spend a long time behind bars and never to drive again. RIP the poor rider, probably on his/her way home...
