after many years...took years to perfect the vaccine, this is not smallpox.it's part of the flu virus family, not the same thing.
It's not rocket science, just a little research will tell you it's NOT the same family as the flu

Thailand should have tested and quarantined everybody entering the country like Australia, New Zealand and many others.
More than 2,650 people were allowed off the Ruby Princess without being tested.
It led to 28 death This was the PM of Australia in who allowed his religious nutter friends leave the Ruby Princess without so much as a "don't forget your suitcase".
I do hear what you are saying though, after THAT Australia has done a pretty good job -

Sure sigh how aggressive alcohol makes some people
Alcohol takes away your inhibitions, aka, if you are normally a funny happy person, when drunk you tend to be happier and funnier, but if you are normally a sour individual and aggressive these are the people to start fights in pubs when drunk and are no fun to be around at all. There have been clinical experiments about this. Alcohol can remove your inhibitions...great for some, bloody horrendous for others

Now the authorities know that some people, Thais and fahrangs, don't give a damn about social distancing....
Does this mean they'll increase the alcohol ban ????????????

I know people here have probably said it all before, but I'll just say this again. "FACE". As a young boy growing up with a mother who majored in Asian Studies, taught Indonesian for years and sponsored students from Indonesia in our home, it's all about "Losing Face". If those at the top admit to making a mistake they are gone. Scapegoats the lot of them, publicly crucified to appease the masses. So, they just lie and the lies are just accepted as part of their culture. Unfortunately (for them) a lot of Asians are now being educated in Western Schools, Universities etc and they have become whistle blowers on their aging political hierarchy and culture a slow but evolving process. Their future lies with the younger generation, the internet will eventually help (it's why the Chinese try to ban certain sites, god forbid the younger generation learn about the propaganda a lies spread by their Govt).
So at the moment anything coming out of an Asian country about that I take with a grain of salt so to speak. Science and fact however rarely lie, the truth will out over time.
All I can add is, stay safe people, it's a mess out there at the moment, because someone ate a bat....-

To those who are trying to make sense of this sad horrific thing.
completing suicide seems rational to the person doing it, and is the best alternative as they see it.
the comments about why in a mall why this why that are perhaps a waste of time n focus.
the overwhelming experience a person has that they see as motivation to kill themselves are myriad.
Interstellar levels of self-loathing is nearly always a component of suicidal people whether they complete or not.
in the case of serious and or terminal illness such loathing and self hatred usually excludes this thinking and associated emotions.
if you are having despairing thoughts or notice a friend taking high risks or withdrawing or letting go of self care then ask them with intent are they feeling ok.
its okay to talk about self harm thinking with and to others.
talking about, broaching the subject with a despairing person does not encourage or initiate self harm episodes, quite the contrary????
men are far more likely to self harm then women. So go talk to your mates.
You are on the money here. Often people try to rationalise why someone did something. You cannot apply normal thinking to an abnormal situation. You'll just chase your tail forever. Depression is just one example of mental illness, people do things when they are depressed and asked later why they did it, the answer is usually, "I don't know, I wasn't thinking straight". Schizophrenia is another often misunderstood illness. A lot of these people "constantly" have voices in their heads demanding self-harm or suicide, maybe just maybe an opportunity presented its self just at that time, only the poor person lying on the floor will probably ever know the truth. RIP

I'm never sure about internet news, or any news anymore. News outlets sometimes just trying to sell news, any news, to make a buck. However, IF and I say IF this man has been charged with murder before (so young 42 to be out of jail), how they hell did he ever get a passport and how the hell did the Thai customs authorities ever let this piece of work into their country. They are only asking for trouble, which they got, or more, some poor bastard on holiday's messing around with a Thai bar lady. The mind boggles. I hope the truth comes out, and those posting picks on social media are just as complicit in this crazy act as the boofhead who clearly has an anger management issue. JMHO

When "natural selection" is involved in road death, there is not much you can do about it. It does, however, remove them from the gene pool. What is sad though is when a Darwin award candidate takes out an innocent human being just going about their day, that is a tragedy...

On Australian news. Absolute tragedy and she was so young and beautiful. There should be a law that you must posses a licence to hire a jet ski, motor bike etc. I know you must have on in Australia but I guess that money comes before lives in Thailand.
Sadly, I think we already live in a world with more laws than you can shake a stick at. I'd like to see less laws. It's one thing I like about coming here to Thailand. Common sense is the law that should prevail. Laws in Australia are "over the top" IMHO. This is a tragic story of misadventure and no laws governing the use of Jet Ski's would have stopped this. However introducing laws will just put more red tap and hurdles to jump over to do something simple and have fun. I've been riding motorbikes since I was 17 years old. Thankfully I'm still alive today and I can tell you that having a license to ride a bike is not going to save anyone's life. Nor are speed limits. Common sense and good safe riding is what will keep you safe. RIP young lady, died doing something you loved while with someone you loved.

second thing 3 on a Scooby, on a highway.
Sadly, what was the tuk tuk doing on the HWY? Someone was impatient, I could be very wrong but I'm thinking the truck cleaned up the girls from behind trying to overtake everyone! Patience on the road is something you don't often see in Thailand. If the tuk tuk wasn't there they'd probably all still be alive...

The prick with the stick has some issues he has to deal with.
Some of his own medicine from a hardened cellmate should suffice.
I'm fairly sure behaviour like this is learned, beating the monk up again won't stop it, but he sure does need to get some anger management help...

It's the five on a motorbike with NO LIGHTS on the WRONG side of the road AT NIGHT that freaks me out. I was parked one night at a local food stall, looked behind in the rear vision mirror (because that's where the traffic comes from right?), nothing coming, so indicated pulled out and missed a family of five on a motorbike down my right hand side, on the wrong side of the road at night. Never saw him coming, no street lights. Crazy stuff...

There can be no denial with DNA these days.... good luck with that one, may that little boy rest in peace. Why is it that some of the worst crimes are committed by those from religious organisations??

I don't think it's any different in any country anywhere in the world. Australia is no different. Some, not all, but a very vocal and noisy majority, whinge about Australia, it's people and it's laws. Let them whinge I say, because they don't care about me and I don't care about them, and there are more of me than there are of them. Nothing to see here. Move along please.....
