  1. No dogs in my village

    Where is your village?

Not far from temple in Nongprue

Oh there are plenty there, the nearest to the temple being NIBBANA, am I correct?

I've almost rented a lovely house there, but when I actually visited the place I figured out that the pictures in the ad where taken some 10 years ago, if not more.

  2. I went to Soi Khaonoi which is parallel to Soi Siam Country Club, beside all the Chockchai villages is there anything interesting there that I should know of?

By the way look at what I just found in Soi Siam Country Club: FRENCH BAKERY!!! no need to go all the way to Friendship Supermarket!!

Now I hope that it's the real deal like the ones sold in Friendship (south Pattaya) or Foodmart (Jomtien) and not this shit they sell in Foodland!

  3. It has been asked several times before but WHICH is the best most relaxed/cleaner etc.

I would definitely not use the word "cleaner" but "less dirty" instead. The same for "relaxed", better use "less noisy" wink.png

I was at the Jomtien beach yesterday and the water was soooo dirty that it lost all its transparency, it could be easily confused with sewage water, and I'm really not exaggerating!

So instead of swimming we decided to enjoy the sun and have a fresh coconut, but we were disturbed every 3 to 10 seconds by the vendors walking along the beach, sometime with as short as 2 to 3 meters between them!!!

I'm not even mentioning the extremely loud music coming from Thais and their disco-cars from the road only a few meters away, we couldn't hear each other with my friend so we finally decided to go home and enjoy a movie instead. We watched "Adore", which really sucked by the way (two boys f*cking each other's mom) but the beach in the movie was really beautiful, quiet and clean! Funny day ^^

  4. 1. How many more houses being built? It all depends on how many workers the developer has quality of build and flow of material. Took my developer a bit over a year and a half to complete 28 houses.

    2. A serious developer would have taken care of the dog problem. Let him/her know about it.

    Thanks all for the replies!

I will be moving to a new village not yet finished near the football stadium about 5 Km from the Sukhumvit.

There are only a few houses finished and only a few people who moved-in, and I'm a bit concerned by two things:

1 - the terrible construction noise during the day (they said it'll be over in two months, but to me it looks like it's gonna take at least a year to finish all the houses and buildings!)

2 - dogs!!! yes you heard right, there are about 9 dogs "living" in this new village!!! Each time I go there they're barking and running after me. My friend told me that once they'll get to know me they'll stop attacking me but I'm not so sure... still scary if I wanna have any guests.

That's about it! Regarding the traffic, I was there at about 6:30 PM and it was a NIGHTMARE like I never saw in my entire life! Especially at the junction with the Sukhumvit...

What are your thoughts about points 1 and 2 above?

I haven't seen more than 10 or so workers, and there are at least 15 houses not finished + many big buildings (townhouses) for which even the structure is not yet finished. With only 10 workers there's no way on earth they can finish everything within 2 months! And they still manage to make a hell loud noise we can't even hear each other when talking, must close windows and still pretty loudy... Did I mention the entry road being pure sand at the moment?? Can't even walk there, if you don't have a vehicle you simply cannot leave the village without putting your foot into some 20cm deep wet dirty sand!

Regarding the dogs problem, it seems that they "belong" to one of the now owners who moved there, she keep one dog locked in, and all the other 10 dogs are standing in front of her house, barking and attacking anyone who'd come by!

This is a deal breaker for me :(

  6. I am up around "Lake" Mabprachan and it suits me fine in all respects.

I am not sponsored by Honda, though.

Most road signs have English on them even if they are just transliterated from Thai.

But since you probably wouldn't find a Siam Country Club in England ........ anyway, that is not the official name of that Soi, just a convenient reference name.

How much does it take you to get to Friendship Supermarket in south Pattaya? and how about to the beach? (Jomtien's one)

I'm guessing a good 20 minutes drive, correct?

Regarding the soi name, good point I didn't see that it's actually "porn prapa nimit" (translated from "porn papa, gimme!")

  7. From http://siamcountryclub.com/oldcourse/about.php

Shortly after the Old Course was opened in March 2007, it hosted a world class tournament, Honda LPGA Thailand 2007 in October. In February 2009, the tournament moved to Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation. Since 2010, the Old Course has become home of the LPGA tournaments in February. Events such as the LPGA are testimony to the quality of the golf course, clubhouse, and services.

So because there was one event from Honda in 2007 in this golf course we are now displaying "Home of Honda" at the entrance of the road? That's a big honor for Honda! (and for the golf course as well)

  8. Hey there,

I wanna move there and have a few questions:

    1. is it a good soi for a foreigner? are there many foreigners living there? Went there a couple of times and didn't see much.
    2. Where does the name come from? "Siam Country Club"? I'm surprised to find English words in soi name
    3. Why there is a big red panel saying "Home of Honda" when entering the soi? Honda's CEO has a house there or what?
    4. I've been there a couple of times and seen a small fresh market, 7/11, Tesco Express, BigC mini, but are there anything else interesting that I should know in this road?
    5. How is the traffic to get to the Sukhumvit Road? The village I'll be moving to is about 5 KM far from the Sukhumvit, is it a good location or is it "too far from the city"?
    6. Are there any water issues? I mean when it's raining is the road like a big swimming pool?

By the way are there any inconvenient from living in a house there? I was thinking of electric cuts, water cuts, internet cuts, the king of things that I never experienced in a condo in pattaya.

    Cheers!

  9. I know it's not an easy thing to do, especially as the doctor won't understand why you're leaving before making the injection. What I usually do if I need an experimented eye is to go to a pharmacy and ask advice, and as usual he or she will try to sell you medicine, then take note of their name but don't buy them, then go home make your researches.

Now I'm not sure about rabies specifically so I won't comment on this, but the question also concerns how likely the dog has rabies or not, which is a statistic we can find online I guess. Anyway usually most doctors tend to scare people and tell them to act quickly to avoid any risk, but keep in mind that this is their main marketing strategy.

Now regarding financial interests, even if it's a covered by insurance or it's a public hospital, the hospital (and therefore the doctors) receive found based on their spending (i.e. "sales") so the more injections they make the more money they get, it's a sad fact.

What else are you not sure about.

But how would you feel if your child died of rabies because you waited too long ?

Well this is the risk of life. Life is deadly by itself ^^

Here's what can potentially happen to your child because of a vaccine:

Crazy isn't it? I personally prefer to take the risk of not getting any vaccination than taking the risk of the vaccine's side-effect.

Also if the disease is most certainly fatal ?

    Yes.

There are literally thousands of diseases that are certainly fatal and for which you are not vaccinated.

Like I said it's a matter of statistic – how likely it is that the dog has rabies? How likely it is that you'll have a car accident by going outside tonight? You could just stay home all the time then! That's why you need to weigh up the pros and con, and not let the big pharmaceutical industries (and their corrupt doctors) scare you and push you to get vaccination.

  10. So you would suggest I go to the hospital see the doctor and ask what he's gonna inject, then step outside and go to an internet shop to research what he has told, then go back to have some further discussions or eventually allow him to do what he suggest ?

  12. I should trust the doctor in that.

Never trust any doctor, especially in Thailand as the system push them to sell more and more treatments because they get a percentage on each treatment sold.

Most doctors are salesman and should not be trusted!!! They don't care about your child's health, they care about their income more. They won't hesitate to prescribe (i.e. "sale") as many medicines, injections and antibiotics as possible to increase their salary, even if it's no good to the child, unjustified and dangerous.

Never trust anybody. You can use the Internet, so do your own research. Look for symptoms, name of products/medicines you will get lots of information in English. The best choice when you don't know what to do, is to do nothing and let the life heal by itself.
