  2. Hello

I am wanting to update a few thing in my current place but don't know where to start looking for prices, in the uk I would be armed with my measurements then get some casual quotes so I can plan a budget, here in Phuket I need some help

I have a double glazed door from living room to patio, another internal door and a kitchen window I want replaced, wanted mos screen on the patio & kitchen window, other plumbing work should be easier to source.

    cheers

  3. I have seen the ones by tot office on my travels to chalong think they were around 300thb an hour too, the ones at sapin hin I will look at on my travels, not sure about reasonable tennis racquets as I brought mine with me from uk but a little shop next to robinsons in phuket town I updated my trainers & they had a few.

  4. Hello, I am also up for some extra tennis, think I am an average player hard to say tbh but never been graded, can travel best times for me early evening but very flexible.

I know the outrigger not been there to play, played on courts at indigo blue, played at Karon Hilton, behind tesco lotus kathu also has courts used last year, Thayapura has excellent courts, send me a pm can do singles or try doubles, I may try one of mens social evenings.

  5. Also a new manager :), I shall try Naka market 1st at the weekend as never heard of that market before, thanks

Baggies looking for a bag :-)

Naka market would be a half decent place to start or expo in phuket town maybe ?

Sent from my GT-N7100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

  6. I brought a great one a few years ago from a place that use to be attached to supercheap, cannot find it any more since the fire, its was a fair price carried heavy loads no problems lasted 3 trips from the uk, replaced it with one costing 350thb after looking at tesco etc, that one is already falling to bits after a couple months, can anyone advise on a reasonable priced place as it seems my last one was a lucky find, maybe 500thb max? I travel a lot around the island so location should be no problems

    Thanks

  7. Hello

My friend age 35 is planning a couple of long stays in Thailand, his plan sounds ok but I know very little of the rules, at the moment he is on an education visa 1st one in passport, last year just normal tourist for one month. When his visa or extension to stay finishes next year Feb he is planning on going back to the UK for a couple weeks then applying for a triple tourist visa there as they currently issue them, after using the time up with that he plans to go back on a education visa for another year before heading back to the uk.

The reason for the break of ed visa to tourist is that he wants to study for the 1st year but then spend time travelling around Thailand not studying on the 9 months part, it seems an ok plan to me??

    Thanks

  8. I have seen (Rassada) in a few posts where is this residential estate, on my poor maps of Phuket its not shown?

I think we've all done a few laps around this course already and Steve is completely correct that everyone will tend to cheerlead their own choice of location.

I would first decide which part of the island you want to live on and start from there. In my residential estate in Rassada there are 150 houses, about a third of which are up for sale or rent. I believe the situation is much the same in most other parts of the island. It is definitely a buyers' (or in this case 'renters'') market.

  9. No spoonman I think that any of the guest houses would not bat an eyelid in patong, I mentioned that area as I know many guesthouses especially on the way in road to the complex would be fine, the way out as mentioned has gay clubs, I do not know lion guesthouse but there should be no problem & as posted the lady boy prob knows all the places.

  10. You only need a letter from Immigration if you want to purchase a bike or car. Not required for a bank account. For opening a bank account there are some banks that are easier than others, but most will open an account with just a tourist visa and a receipt from wherever you are staying

If one bank won't open an account for you , just walk down the road and try another one

Bangkok Bank will give you Internet banking, you just have to force them to call Bangkok and obtain the correct information regarding the work permit requirement which is no longer required but the word has not gotten to some of the branches

Sorry, was a bit wrong on Bangkok bank, they do not require a 1 year visa per se, but do require at least a non immigrant type visa.

Along with needing to call head office for some assistance, as most branches, when opening an account, will flag you as a tourist unless you have a 1 year extension AND points it out to them!

They will absolutely NOT allow internet banking when on a tourist visa.

For more info see this post by one of our members who works as a VP with Bangkok Bank, and is an excellent resource and great help for any matters you might have with Bkk Bank!

This info contradicts info on on website.

    You hold a tourist visa or non-immigrant visa e.g. ED, EX, F, IB, IM, M, O, O-A, R, RS, D, F, SE, MT, S

Click on documents required on this webpage: http://www.bangkokbank.com/BangkokBank/PersonalBanking/SpecialServices/ForeignCustomers/Pages/Openinganaccountnew.aspx

I have read the link too thanks, never seen before, I really want the net access, got a little worried about the atm scammers but been reading a lot of people have a couple accounts and transfer sums across, I will attempt to look at the bank sites later today.

  11. Hello, I am just gathering some information, I will need to open a bank account etc when I arrive in Phuket, I have read that for most things, bank, buying bike you need a letter from immigration confirming your address, a lease or rental agreement have to be shown, can anyone tell me is a minimum length of time required on the agreements?

I think when I first arrive I wanted to only stay somewhere a month or two while sorting out a place for a year but wanted to open a bank account straight away.

    Thanks

    UK

    Non B Visa

  12. Hello

I have managed to get myself confused with what is required on extending the visa, I am thinking at the moment I can apply for a non B visa multi entries here in my home country UK, this give me 90 days entry into Thailand, after this I have to leave, can I just go to Ranong as this seems the best option from Phuket?

I have been reading that at Ranong you only get 15 days but Penang give you more time? I would like the full 90 days

    Thanks
