  1. Appreciate that feedback thanks so much. Did you set this up yourself by following the instructions on that link? (again, thanks for that). How did you manage to get the health app to show the ECG/BP stats when apparently that also is blocked in Thailand (the app i mean)> These might be stupid question, I apologise if they are! Knowing this information I am going to go ahead and buy one I think. If you wouldnt mind confirming about the health app - thanks!
  2. Wow. That's super useful to know, thanks so much mate. Can I ask though, what about the health app? Another commenter on this thread mentioned the health app also blocked ECG features?
  3. So annoying. Its a useless ranty thing to say I know - but all those countries with the best medical doctors in the world (probably) and amazing health systems have it. Yet a country with utterly useless doctors and a poor health system (in my opinion) have blocked it. Its another one of those silly laws and its so frustrating.
  4. Yes the galaxy 4 is 500 baht cheaper than the store. Im still baffled though - the Samsung Thailand website clearly states, in both Thai and English, that the watch has an ECG. The staff at the store are adamant, and I mean 100% adamant, that ECG and BP features are restricted in Thailand. Just a quick rant - I have heart disease, and it took 5 cardiologists to reach the conclusion that I have it. Each time I visited a doc I would tell them 'im certain I have heart disease'. Each time they would run basic tests and tell me I dont. They would blame my symptoms on coffee, or stress. On the advice of a UK doctor, I asked for a CT scan and Echo which showed I have coronary artery disease. In short, the doctors are bloody useless and it was super hard work, expensive and frustrating getting the correct diagnosis. Now, I want a watch that is proven to be accurate in showing BP and ECG results, but the government, presumably on the advice of more useless Thai doctors, have seemingly restricted those features, denying me and hindering me yet again. It does my head right in sometimes, this country.
  5. Thanks. I live in Thailand and want to buy one here. I just need to know if certain features - crucially the ECG and blood pressure features - are restricted in Thailand or not.
  6. Yes, thanks bbko. The app isnt the problem its showing up on app store, I am more bothered about the ECG and if it is restricted in Thailand or not
  7. Thanks Fangless. So that link confirms heart rate monitor (same as a standard Fitbit watch for example, just beats per minute) but doesn't mention ECG/EKG, so I am not sure, hard to know. I wonder why in the Samsung shop they insist the G4 does not have ECG/EKG when that is a fairly big feature of the watch? It must be a restriction thing you would have thought?
  8. I wanted to buy the new Galaxy 4 which has an ECG heart tracker. On the Samsung website, they clearly state this feature is on the watch. But I asked at two different Samsung stores and they all say none of the Galaxy watches have this feature. I tried to tell them that they do indeed have this feature, but I just got 'mai mee' as an answer without further detail. I just read something online about some features being regionally restricted however, and I wonder if that is why they are stating this in the shop? Does anyone know if the Galaxy 4 in Thailand does actually have ECG/HRM or is it restricted here? I cant find anything online about it. And if it is restricted, is it possible do you think to jail break in some way?
  9. Mate come on lol you know exactly what I mean. I saw two Americans within 10 mins of each other in Big C maskless. I know one of them was American, as I have seen him out and about in the boozers over the years. Another one I heard speaking to his mrs and I picked up the accent. I wasn't following them around with a magnifying glass like some half arsed bumbling detective, they just happened to be around me and I saw & heard them - once when I was buying a jar of overpriced tasteless pesto, and once when I was looking for car wax lol. Both American, both maskless, just a simple fact. I live in a moo baan that has around a dozen ferangs from different corners of the world. When I am out and about walking the dog, I cross paths with some of them and have a quick chat about football, music, Thailand stuff, whatever.... Apart from the three Americans who always bore the brains off me, banging on about pandemic related conspiracy theories. That's all they talk about, ever, and it does my nut in. Obviously that does not mean every single American is an anti-masker, but lets be honest there seem to be a larger percentage of Americans making a fuss over not wearing a mask. My next door neighbor who is an absolute barn-pot (crazy, in other words) also refuses to wear a mask to the extent that he hasn't been inside a 7/11 for 20 months. He also believes that Queen Elizabeth is the head of a pedophile ring which includes, amongst many others, Hunter Biden as one of the chief kiddy fiddlers, so his opinion on the reasoning for not wearing a mask is of little value to me. Because he is a mental person. Nothing personal of course. I dont have anything against Americans. I will say however that many of the stereotypes applied to them do seem to be true in my view, and I always struggle for banter with them, so if I am having a pint somewhere and there is an American around I will usually bury my head in my phone, and act too busy to strike up a chat.
  10. I agree with this! Twice seen people walking around Big C maskless, they were both americans!
  11. LOL. Well I dont understand the point in my doing it either! Whenever I see other people do it I always think whats the point in that, a little over the top isnt it? But because I see many other people do it, I just figure I will do the same lol. Yah you got me, silly really.
  12. I see your point but I dunno if you are being totaly fair. Sometimes it looks cheesy/corny and other times it looks alright. It depends on the car and the driver I reckon. A bright yellow Range Rover Sport fully loaded with massive alloys and a personal plate that says 'RICH KID' or something just looks daft, especialy if the driver is dressed like a pillock. A bit of a <deleted>, as we say in UK. On the other hand, a half decent motor nothing too flash or garish with a plate indicating his initials something like 'RJB 88' is fine, nothing 'douchey' about that. Its a cool little touch that puts a smile on the owners face without being too corny or look-at-me. As for the alloys wheels, I dont like them either. Makes no sense to me and looks terrible I reckon, half the time it ruins the look of the car. But calling someone a douche just because they are doing something that improves the look of their car (in their opinion) is a bit snobby and self righteous if you ask me. Sorry mate, just being honest. As for the Vespa, I brought it and the bird who ran the place said 'do you wanna personal plate' I said hmmm I dunno, what about the number 1 does that cost much? She said no, costs nothing extra, so I thought sod it why not.
  13. I bet it is an incredible stress & hassle also, the paperwork and what have you.
  14. Ah ok thanks, that makes sense. My plate is prechuabkirikahn 1
  15. ITS PRECHUABKIRIKAHN, HUA HIN. YES PROBABLY WAY DOWN THE LIST OF DESIRABLE. ITS ALSO A BIKE NOT A CAR SO REALLY PROBABLY ISNT WORTH MUCH. sorry - caps lock on again!
  16. Yes very true. The number 1 isnt a desirable number compared to fives, eights and nines. A wealthy merc owner would not seek out 1
  17. AH THERE YOU GO THEN. THATS THE SAME AS ME (sorry, caps). Just as i suspected it realy isnt worth anything.
  18. That dosent make any sense though - plates are transferable, if someone wanted that plate, they would not have to buy and use the vespa of course not, blimey wake up mate. The plate is transfered. Who in their right mind would say "oh i fancy that plate #999 all i have to do is buy and ride a 17 year old Honda Click and I can do it" You have not seen 'plenty' of single digit plated bikes around. You just havent. I have lived here full time for 18 years and have driven/ridden over 300,000 kms all over the country. I do not see 'plenty' of single digit plates knocking around. Rare? No. But plenty? Come on mate...
  19. Something just cropped up during a discussion on facebook about personalised plates. I mentioned that I haappened to have the plate '1' on a bike I purchased 11 years ago. The plate cost me nothing, and a fellow poster seems to think I am either lying, have a fake plate or got very lucky as it must be worth a lot of money, and there is no way a dealer would let me have it for free. He showed some prices from a recent tabian-rot auction, one of the examples listed was '1' for 500,000 THB. When I brought the bike I asked for number 1, and they said I would have to wait for that to become available. They said it could take a few days, or it could take a year, there is just no way of knowing. I got lucky and recieved it in just 6 weeks. I am not getting my hopes up in the slightest. There is no way that a plate which cost me zero extra is worth much money. But I am interested to know if it has any value at all? The bike is at the end of its life (its just a modern Vespa, albiet a nice one), its 11 years old and I cant be bothered to repair it. I have a couple of original Italian classic Lambrettas, they take up all my focus, time and money, and I also have a car, so the vespa isnt essential and I was just going to leave it by the side of the house untill I figured something out with it to be honest. But if it transpires that the plate has a value, I might repair it and get it re-taxed/inspected and sell the plate, if thats something I am allowed to do, by law. Does anyone know if there is a way to check the value?
  20. Hi there. We might need to get a CT scan for our dog, told it will cost 15000, does anyone know if that is about the normal price for it? Just wanted to check dual pricing isnt in play. Thanks.
  21. Does anyone have a link to the facebook group this was posted on - or a photo of the guys face without pixels? I want to post and share. Whats the point in pixelating his face????
  22. Unlike actual cash, which is never ever used for anything dodgy, right?
