  1. Thai ladies are used to MEN being the head of the family.

    Dave

    Affirmative

    :o

That may be true unless your wife has lived abroad for more than a few years....... my wife will tell me to piss off in a heart beat! (but that's why we get along so well). :D

  2. What happens after the first three months are over? Nice teaser rates but you better understand the entire loan note before jumping on any "Deals". Now the million baht question.......Which of these banks will even consider a mortgage for a falang?????.......My guess will be zero.....Just like the teaser rates being offered!

  3. this can be sorted in 10 mins.

    1/ open gambling casinos

    2/ open a disney world.

3/park and drive areas,so avoiding coming into central pattaya with own vehicles

then the tourism board can attract more families and wealthier people.

keep the bars too but move them in a different place to beach rd,and make beach road shut to traffic from 7pm until 4am.

    gizza job

    Spot on......Bingo!

  4. It's easier to spot the farangs that are apt to be scammed. They are desperate for love and spend little time building a foundation. Most TG scammers are looking to turn a quick buck and aren't capable of investing time into building a relationship. Why would they waste their time, when there are 10 farangs at the local bar that are all too willing to try their hand at buying their love.

In my younger days, I met many Thais that were after money and most weren't cons. It was a business transaction to them. They were selling themselves at the highest price possible; maybe a few times each night. Not the ideal situation to begin a successful relationship.

In lieu of asking how to spot cons, why not ask yourself if you're capable of investing the time to get to know the girl you're dating. A week in a 5 star hotel in Phuket isn't enough. Invest the time and with any luck you should be able to answer the question yourself.

Best answer thus far!!!!........To be a true player .......you gotta know how to be played!!!

  5. I've always said that Thailand really needs to implement mandatory and random drug testing for all commercial drivers, I've been on more than one bus from Korat to Bangkok where the driver was higher than a kite and felt very uneasy the entire trip. Seems like the regulation of commercial drivers is very relaxed, I've heard of bus drivers not stopping for any kind of sleep for three days straight! I guess they get paid by the trip and if the wheels aren't turning they're not making any money. From now on I only travel by pvt car when leaving town.

  6. Here's the deal, we have a six year old daughter who is staying at my mother in laws house in LOS, we send her a Christmas package from the States (kids stuff), we spend $100.00 to purchase the gifts, another $110.00 to ship them (most came from somewhere is Asia to start with) and when my mother in law gets notice to pick up the box at the post office they inform her that there is a new fee in place for imported items and that she either pays 885 baht or the post office will keep the package!!! <deleted>!!......Of course my mother in law calls us at midnight all upset because she has to pay the tax. We've been sending gifts to LOS for years and have never been charged an import tax, has anybody heard of this crap before?.....Anyway......Merry Christmas Thai style!!

  7. Also, I almost forgot....Regarding buying items for the baby....I wouldn't worry about bringing anything with you. We bought everything in Thailand and it was way cheaper, we even bought the stroller there and when we flew back to California we just gave it to my wife's niece. I will give you a small piece of advice.....prepare yourself for your wife to be spending a lot of time in front of a mirror!!.....drove me crazy.....we couldn't even walk by a window without her looking at herself! I will say over all it was a great experience and I wouldn't of missed it for the world!!.....as you can probably tell, my kids are my pride and joy and your life will never be the same again.....Nothing like the unconditional love from a child! :o

  8. Hi John & Roong,

I've seen this movie before, my Thai wife and myself ( American) also had a daughter which was born in Thailand (korat). Everything went just fine and the hospital took excellent care of both my wife and daughter, if anything she was given extra special care when they found out the father was a farang. The best part was that my daughter cost me a whole $500.00 in medical bills! One really funny thing that happened on the way out of the hospital was an elderly Thai lady stopped my wife and asked her she was able to get such a great job as a nanny for farang baby? lol.......As long as you use a well known hospital everything will be fine and you're wife will love all the attention she'll receive. Good luck!!!

  9. Think I have a bit more faith in the Thai people than you give them credit for. If they did as you suggest could happen, do you not think this would not cause a few problems? Both Internationally and within Thailand….. I’m pretty sure that even in the less well off/educated areas they still value the assistance foreigners have been to their communities. Within the business community they for sure value foreign investment etc… Remember using your scenario, 1,000’s of foreigners would be in jail; they would have lost their assets and businesses. Who would come to Thailand for holiday, retirement, business etc knowing what had taken place to all foreigners just for being a director within a Thai registered nominee company, holding property as an asset. Do you not think this would affect the Thai economy in an extreme way?

With the best will in the world I don’t think even you can say the Thais would want to be another Zimbabwe. For sure I don’t think this would be a “vote” winner for any Thai. Please explain why you think it would?

You may be correct however that's exactly what Mexico did a few years ago and many Americans lost their beach front homes to the government. Many of the homes were worth in excess of $500k. I think one important factor here is that not so long ago there was a huge boom in housing prices for several countries and many farangs cashed in and made a tidy profit. They had the extra money to purchase a home abroad, today that's not the case! Most people are upside down in their homes and no longer have the luxury of buying another home. My other concern would be, do I really feel comfortable investing $100k plus in a country that's having some serious issues. I think in this day and time renting is a much better option.

  10. I'd like to join your pity party but I'm gonna have to pass! I don't mean to sound harsh but my friend you need to get off your ass (and computer) and take care of business. If you're unhappy with your current situation the only person that can change it is YOU! you can't tell me that there is nothing you can do......take a job at McDonalds until you find something else. Forget about the past, at this point it doesn't mean squat about how jacked up your family is (we all have fuc_ked up family members). My advice to you is, stop feeling sorry for your ass and get the donkey bucking!!! BTW.....I also smell a troll.

  11. I'm looking at a few different business opportunities and the asking price is well within reach but my question is this, does anybody have a formula they've used for reserves? I know that just buying the business is only part of what is needed but how do you determine the amount of reserves one should have to feel comfortable? Thanks.

  12. I would never use UPS again....Used them twice to ship from LOS to USA and both times their agents packed my shipment and both times my boxes arrived damaged and the contents were over half destroyed! UPS would not pay either claim....I was told to file a complaint through the Thailand UPS as they were not the same company as the UPS in the States. On the other hand I also used Fed Ex with no problems and they often run specials...25kg for just a little over 5k baht.

  13. I've lost confidence in Sunbelt, I was very interested in looking at a business they had listed for sale and after several emails I still had zero info on the business in question and was finally told to just contact the owner in Australia....which was fine except the only contact info they had was a bad email address....The agent was of NO help what so ever and I felt he really cared less if the business sold or not! If I were the owner of the business need I say I would be very pissed.
