Hello,
I've read a lot of conflicting info, accounts from people doing their Non-O extension.
I got my Non-O (Marriage) visa from my home country of Australia, valid for 3 months, and now I'm about to do the extension for 1 year in Bangkok.
I reviewed the official document and also nice detailed post, but from Chiang Mai after Covid.
I know there's a line at the end that implies the immigration officer can ask for any other documents they want, and so, there are not clear answers for everything as it's sometimes up to their mood.
I'd like to know people's experience in Bangkok however.
I have gathered all documents as per the Chiang Mai guide, which included even more things than the official guide, but:
Kor Ror 2. I have the copy of the document from when we got married in Thailand. Do I really need to go get another new copy?
Do I need to get the single status affirmation for the extension? My wife seems to think I can get the copy from the same place we got married (if we need to get a new Kor Ror 2). Some people say you need it, others don't, unless that's just for the initial Non-O and not the extension?
Do I need a witness? We don't know anyone here. Apparently we need a close friend or family to join us? We just arrived less than 3 months ago. It seems a bit silly.
For the photos, do we need full-body shots? Obviously that would mean that a 'selfie' won't be accepted even if the house number etc is visible and clear?
For the bank documents, do I need to get documents from the same-day, or is within 7 days acceptable?
Our landlord has refused multiple times to provide signed ID card and House Registration. I do have a copy of the rental contract with their signatures and a photo they provided me (not signed though) of their house registration, but they refuse to provide anything more than this. I'm hoping they will accept the rental payment invoices and receipts along with the mentioned as proof of address.
I know I should try to get there as early as possible, but given bank documents etc may be needed the same-day, that may be a challenge. Does the queue cut off at ~11am?
Bonus question: 400k THB just sitting in a bank account seems like a waste. Is is possible to put it into an account that would earn some interest, or would that be too risky?
