Officials warned that an increasing number of massage parlours are illegally operating as fronts for sexual exploitation and prostitution. In some cases, these establishments are also linked to human trafficking, particularly involving vulnerable women and migrant workers.

Authorities reminded the public that such activities are not only criminal but also serious violations of human rights. In cases involving minors under 18 years of age, the offence escalates to child sex trafficking, which carries severe penalties under the law.

I'm Shocked. To think that a business exploits the man this way using massage services for the men they make horny whilst massaging them is outrageous. How could they exploit such a prominent therapy as massages? Such a thing never happens in Thailand.

Posing as a client, an undercover officer paid 400 baht for a one-hour oil massage. Around 40 minutes into the session, the masseuse allegedly offered a “special service”, referring to sexual services, for an additional 1,500 baht. After agreeing to the deal and paying the total of 1,900 baht using marked banknotes, the officer signalled the arrest team to move in. Officers stormed the second-floor room mid-service and made the arrests.

i am especially curious about this. Usually, in a massage business. You pay after the service. This also goes for paying for the happy ending afterwards. So this cop got his rocks off and then paid for it hence alerting his buddies dreaming they were the ones in the massage place to come in and arrest the girls. I have never ever been to a massage business and asked to pay in advance. So this scenario seems most likely.

The types of thugs who 'go in and attack' like this are very far removed from any Buddhist ideology...

The juxtaposition between Buddhism and some of the behavior we see in Thailand is extreme - such characters are not the the types to be practicing any form of Buddhism or have any such points of views on life - they are just thugs.

Thai Buddhism is not the same as Buddhism. So anything goes and make merit afterwards... So being a Thai Buddhist has no meaning for social behavior.

There seems to be a lot more drugs being caught by police than previously in Thailand. Perhaps this has added to the hostility and quick r

Can I clarify a term that seems to be causing confusion.

This was a controlled detention, not an explosion.

Controlled detention is a term used worldwide by EODs, law enforcement, military, emergency services and responsers.

Controlled Detention is a non-destructive procedure used to temporarily contain or stabilise a suspicious item, so it can be examined or dealt with safely.

I know the terms well. but that is not the issue. It was said

But you need an explosive device to be able to detonate it.

He reassured that today's military "can think for themselves",

The OP kind of twists this into their meaning of it is a political issue. However, it could mean that he is saying he does not decide for the military anymore (which we all know) and that a decision for them to make a coup would not be within his ability anymore.

    This is normal in NYC.

yeah but, it would not have made the news if the woman did not choose to make it into a hate crime or twist the story to instill a suspicion Asians get more violence.

In New York City, the violent crime rate is approximately 684.1 per 100,000 residents. This includes offenses like murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

You mean when they say one device detonated really means nothing confirmed as an explosive device? Where did you learn this type of English? https://aseannow.com/topic/1364870-suspected-explosive-device-safely-detonated-on-patong-beach/

Senator Veerapun highlighted that most casino profits worldwide tend to benefit private investors rather than the states. As a result, the government’s optimistic projections regarding tax revenue might not materialise, leading to potential budgetary shortfalls.

This would be calling out the PM for lies as well as several other PTP members in government. Say it isn't so. they would never lie about something like this. We all know the economic benefit is huge for Thailand tourism. As well as for all those millions of Thais waiting to lose their money in gambling without doing it online or in another country or behind someones house.

Warner pointed to unnamed conservative groups that have worked to dissuade companies from engaging in inclusive marketing, warning that this pressure began well before Trump re-entered the White House and dismantled DEI programs within the federal government. “The headwinds began at the beginning of 2024,” Warner said. “Everyone thinks it must have started and got really bad [after Trump]. It really didn’t.”

Nothing could make me happier than to see promoting this ended completely.

The fact that it started before Trump really puts a hamper on all those Blaming Trump for its demise. He only carried out the peoples wishes to continue ending its promotion after the fact.

He confirmed that the Air Force is on standard alert, with aircraft ready to launch defensive operations within five minutes if a conflict arises.

What good is being ready in 5 minutes when it takes a Thai jet 30 minutes to get to the border to investigate a plane flying there?

The last 2 times this happened it took them 30 minute to get to that area and by then the planes were gone.

I think you're the one who doesn't understand basic English.

I asked you a rhetorical question as follows: "The average in the US is $100?" (per hour) Discussing $100 US (100 USD) and approximately 3,200 THB, based on the current exchange rate. I didn't need you to answer the question. It's complete and utter nonsense.

Wrong again and trying to make excuses..... it is really ok you missed the part when i said 100 US and thought i said 100 in the US.. Simple mistake ....

... the thai police will take both, the salary increase and the bribes ...

getting corruption out of the police is like trying to "remove the bar from a barlady ..."

it would take much stronger (more draconian) measures to achieve the nearly impossible goal of reducing police corruption ...

there's no hope that anything will truly change in our lifetime ...

Can not argue with you there. But the timing of this smells alot like the PM wants to make sure the police are committed to her agenda and to protecting her. What better way then to promise salary increases to the lower ranks and large increases to the higher ones.

The only clueless person here is you. First of all the dinosaurs are not made with "AI". It is highly skilled CGI.

Second, the majority of the crew were Thai and it was a real boost. You clearly have no idea how the film industry works.

And of course movies like these have a tourism effect. White Lotus had a measured impact on tourism in Sicily, Hawaii and Samui. The Beach had a huge impact on tourism around Krabi and Maya Bay. Ever heard of Harry Potter and all the Harry Potter tours? Game of Thrones increased tourism by 400% in Dubrovnik. Does Lord of the Rings ring any bells? Massive increase in NZ tourism. Even naff movies like Kong: Skull Island had a knock on effect on tourism in places like Ha Long Bay.

    Your ignorance is shocking.

Of course I am clueless.. Making this movie will surely attract more tourist especially from China. There will be swarms of them coming to see the location. In fact, TAT should set up fake dinosaurs there to include in their attracting these tourists.. New Dino park sounds good.

On the other hand. I do not seriously think the tourism will increase or dispel the fears of travelling to thailand along with the other problems being a tourist here like overcharging, visas, safety to name a few.

If you're paying $100 or more for an hour with a Thai woman in Pattaya, you're a goose without a clue. I can spend 3 whole nights with a Thai woman for that, and their figures are just fine. Stay away from Gogo clubs and do some homework. The average in the US is $100? How did you calculate that in a country with 50 states?

Sorry you can not understand English... But when i said 100 US... It meant US dollars.. to pay a thai woman... Do you understand now?
