  1. The elephant issue in the room here is whether Thailand really is ready for actual democracy or not or even REALLY wants it. Both the reds and the yellows don't really represent actual democracy. One can argue which is less democratic seeking than the other (the yellow side I think) but both sides fall well short. For westerners to suggest that Thailand has failed at this and maybe should look for a stable other Thai path that doesn't even PRETEND to be democracy (and be honest about it) is probably considered an insult to Thais, but look at the huge numbers of Thais who are saying in essence the SAME thing!

In any case, I think Thailand will continue with some kind of failed flavor of democracy in future if nothing else than to show a face of a modern "democratic" country to the world, even it's not for real.

Agree, where in Asia do you find democracy as we know it in the west?

Look at Singapore, Malaysia, and elsewhere in SE Asia, it´s mainly run by the chinese, same in Thailand, just that the Bangkok Chinese despise the "nouveau riche" Hakka Chinese/Thai from up north:

Maybe a couple of real nasty civil wars, and 100 years more of suffering will wake people up, and get them ready for true democracy?

  2. Hinted maybe, what is your stance?

What is your solution to this mess?

My stance is all politicians, democrats or Peuh Thai are crooked in Thailand, i do not stand for Thaksin but for sure neither the democrats who tried to keep for decades the rural people in ignorance because it served them quite well and needed a Thaksin to wake up...a bit

Maybe i m the only one here to think that I d not have a practical solution to this mess, however mass education seems to be a good start, getting rid of the democracy and asking for an appointed cabinet is for sure not the solution.

So true, why can´t people understand this?

  3. Solution: Break up the country, make Bangkok a HiSo Chic Lakorn joke, and Chiang Mai the Capitol, cut the crap, this IS what we need, two Thailands, good for the tourists, good for the thai, more money to be made that way, right? Solly, drank too mutt laokhao with them motosai taxiboys down the soi, I got it from them...
