Thank you kindly
rent a car and drive there...

I'm pretty sure Dara accepts students at any age: I used to work there and we were looking at putting one of my ex-wife's neices there, the school said that would be fine, as long as she passed an entrance exam. They have a well-financed Native-Speaker program which is worth a look...

I think you are too late for Dara - their admissions are settled by christmas. PRC is probably the same...

i saw le creuset pans in the emporium. They were about 7000 baht each - or thereabouts...
Le creuset sell sets of pans and they are much cheaper than buying individually. I got a set of 5 for about 175 quid.

Will they have a vietnam style helicopter taking off from the compound withdrawal?

Looks like I am nice and safe in Aberdeen...
and bored to <deleted> death...

I did a class with some geology students a few years ago and they said that there was a low possibility of a severe earthquake in Chiang Mai as they weren't the right type of plates - they did say that the posibility existed in Lamphun or Lampang (Can't remember which).

technically no - not even voluntary work can be done on a tourist visa - but who would ever know?

We got fantastic rings designed for us on the block at 114 Ratchapakinai Road. We went on the the net and found a design we liked - a Celtic band, which they had never done before. They told us that if we weren't happy then they would melt them down and try again. There was really no need as they came out looking fantastic. We got matching bands in 18 carat gold for 9000 baht, but that was 6 years ago - so the price of gold has gone up since then. Not sure how long it took, but no longer than a week.

Is farang price so expensive?
YES.
(And it's not a Farang price actually, it's a price for non-Thai tourists.)
True, but watch those Chinese tourists stay quiet and hand over the thai price...

upper class people, such as myself, would never tell

Bamboo
in Chiang Mai
If you want some information on this, google for "bamboo", "Khamthiang Market", "Chiang Mai".Don't mean to be a <deleted> - but I am - but typing that into google gets exactly 0 hits!

I think i got one from marks and spencer in central once - had to keep it in the fridge cos the ants would have got to it!

The Thai moo kata places, and garden restaurants, are much more appropriate places for little ones....
I don't think a restaurant that has people walking about carrying red hot buckets of charcoal is an appropriate place for kids at all...

ajarn dot com has teaching jobs. This is a good time to get a positions as some of the schools hire in october, after the break.
BTW, welcome to Thaivisa. Not all members are quite as pompous sounding as the above member...
On second thoughts, most of them are!

What about Itunes? I bought tracks from itunes in Thailand, although my account and card were registered in the UK...
-
SO why don't Thai ISPs have download limits?
-
Yesterday I watched the Scotland/Macedonia game on a Macedonian TV website - I would never bother doing that with a Thai one cos I know it would be too slow.
So, Thailand: crapper internet than Macedonia!
-
No, but it seems a shame to block torrents when there are legitimate means under which it could be used.
The bottom line is that the internet infrastructure in Thailand is woefully underfunded.
-
Aren't torrents also used to share open source software legally and although torrents are used they may not be being used for illegal purposes?
-
Imagine people having the tenacity to actually think they can use the internet!
Maybe TV users are using up all the bandwidth in Changers!
-
Amazon would be your best bet.

But there are countries where English does not reach officialdom whatsoever, and the citizens can achieve a good level of spoken English.
Holland?
-
That's silly. English is an Official language of the Philippines.
I think it's fair enough, English is an official language in India, there are millions who can't speak it...
And my point would be that if standards were applied consistently and bad students failed then you wouldn't have situations where someone can become an English teacher and speak awful English.
How To Divorce In Uk When You Married In Thailand...
in Marriage and Divorce
Posted
Ok, first post in absolute ages. I've been seperated from my ex for about a year and half. We both live in the UK. We were married in Thailand at an Amphoe. What I'd like to know is how we can go about getting a divorce. It's not contested in any way. Can we just get the quick divorce from the post office? What would we have to do on the Thai side of things?
I tried searching and couldn't really find any answers.
Thanks for any help!
