  1. When I went to the Ram with Conjunctivitis I was told I had a melanoma in one eye, until they checked 5 minutes later and there wasn't one...

But, where else are you gonna go?

  2. A stick works for most Thai dogs that have learnt that humans with a stick normally win in these situations. Some time ago I punched a big farm dog that was in a barking dispute with one of our smaller dogs, the yelp and surprise of a human getting involved seemed to work.

Apart from the stick, dogs respond to a deep growling voice. I have faced a barking dog square on and closed the gap while growling - looks funny but in doggie terms I'm just being the agressor, not come across a dog that was trained enough to doubt me.

    Woof !

I would not like your chances if confronted by a pitbull.....

perhaps a squeaky bark and roll on your back may help :o

A thai bred pitbull would be so inbred itwould be so corr-eyes it couldn't see past the end of it's nose...

  3. Hi

I'm applying for a UK passport for my son. My son was born in the UK, his mum is Thai - I'm from the UK. Do I need to have a translated copy of our marriage certificate? We don't have one - so other question would be where does one get such a thing?

We must have had one to get my wife's uk visa, but it's been lost to the mists of time!

    Thanks for any info!

  4. I used to work at Dara Academy, they are a well-funded, well-run school. Some people are under the misaprehension that they are a girls school, but they haven't been for the last 15 years. The are owned by the same organisation that owns Prince Royal College so those 2 schools are quite similar.

They teach the Thai curriculum, which all the schools you are looking at will. The teachers I worked with are hard-working and commited. They also have an English-speaking program - which costs a little extra.

There is demand to get into Dara, and I don't know if you have left it a little late to get into the best schools - although someone will come on and blow that idea out of the water!

I think dara costs about 15.000 baht a term, double that for the english program - but I could be wrong.

  5. when hammond has his accident last year the health and safety report indicated that an australian touring car driver, whose name escapes me, was present. It is believed that has is the current stig, although there have been a couple of other racing drivers who have played the stig, namely perry macarthy and julian bailey.

  6. if watermelon is grown with dirty water then whatever the water is contminated is in the watermelon, as opposed to most fruit/veg which don't absorb bacteria - the bacteria is in the skin

:o Oh man. I don't know where you got that from but that is no where near being true.

    Food Standards Agency training course...

  7. if there is a major tournament the bars still close. In 2006 the corld cup coincided with the Kings birthday/jubilee (can't remember which now!) and a special tribute show, which was on all channels every night meant that many people missed a lot of world cup football - much nashing and moaning on certain subforums here.

BTW, how can you possibly describe the cricket sixes as a major tournament? What is cricket sixes - when as many as 6 people watch cricket? :o

  8. Khao Soi is good, but I can't really differentiate betweeen what is really good, and what is crap. I usually go by who gives me the biggest bowl. And how much there is in the bowl. My worst is my old school - being named and shamed here - Dara Academy - who used to serve it on a plate and for that reason they are the worst.

Also, splashability is a factor - I like my chicken off the bone, I think we've all had a drumstick fall between your chopsticks and the resulting tsunami of curry sauce goes all over your top - I like a nice white shirt and that ain't no good on Khao Soi day.

My favourite? Well you made it to the bottom of my post, so I should tell you. I like the Blue Diamond Khao Soi - they make it farang style, so it's not like something you get in many place, great big pieces of pumblin. You just have to suffer stinky backpackers who like to avoid any sort of personal hygiene/grooming product.
